In my area of the world, every 17 years we are bombarded by a plague. What kind of plague you ask? Cicadeas, other wise known as locust. Starting around may 21st ( give or take a few days) the Cincinnati area will have between 5 and 6 BILLION of these little, darlings! rolleyes.gif

Well, if they like it there it must be an obsession here... Let me explain...
The last time they were around was 1987. And for six weeks the area was covered... for example
the average yard had about 100 cicadas per sq yard!!!!!! And this was everywhere!!!!!

Has it been that long already? geez, I remember them in Winchester. Don't remember which year it was, but we only moved there in 1990 =)

Thinking it was early though. . . . First time I'd ever seen them....

Just an update
The ground has warmed 10 degrees in a week! Which means that the ground temp. is now 63.5 degrees. Which means the cicadeas are on their way! It *will* happen this week! Once the ground temp reaches 64 degrees and above they begin the emergence.

I have to go out and get a couple containers of washer fluid. Because ones windshield takes a beating even driving a short distance.

I will hopefully remember to take pictures of this little event. So, that way everyone will understand what the heck I am talking about.

Didn't they make a movie about them during the 80s called..."Attack of the Killer Cicadeas!" or was it called "Red eyed Cicadea Eats Japan"??? laugh.gif lol.gif

Hello Jason,

Maybe "Barddas" can write and perform the soundtrack for the movie.... tongue.gif wink.gif

But seriously, is it a school project or is it a hobby---your friends film project?

Cheers,

It's his own project. He moved out LA area a few years ago. He has been a camera man for the show 'The Osbournes' for about a year or so. So he films inbetween that....
