Hello, I'm from Tennessee, USA, and I had the pleasure of visiting England and Scotland several years ago. Ever since I have really loved the culture and the music. I love a good fiddle or a flute, especially traditionals like "Loch Lomand" and "Lord of the Dance" etc. I listen a lot to the Thistle and Shamrock show on NPR here in the states. I love the beautiful sadness of the traditional music. I don't care much for the more uptempo stuff or the newer material, though what I heard of "Great Big Sea" I really like.

A lot of music here in the Appalachian region (like bluegrass) has heavy celtic and irish/scotch influences. My dad is tracing our lineage on his side, but we have yet to get back across the ocean. On my mum's side we're at least part English.

Thanks for this wonderful station.

Welcome smile.gif There's a thread on appalacian music that I'll see if I can find. After reading your welcome I wrote a whole big reply about Country Music's Celtic ancestery, which is better placed in the Celtic Music forum than posted here wink.gif
