My dad might end up getting a shitzu puppy(sp?) Friday. As nice as that sounds, we already have a Yorkie/Silky mix and Dad already dogsits my sister's maltise dogs, one of which bullies the other two to no end, he's cleaver enough to mess in the house and get the otherr pups blamed. I'm afraid this will not turn out well.
Any advice for introducing new dogs to other dogs in the family?
We dog mushers frequently introduce new dogs to our teams, and I often have "visitors" from a sled dog rescue organization staying in my yard for a few days. It's fairly easy for someone with a kennel set up so that dogs can interact without actually coming into full contact with each other. For the more typical pet owner I think it is more difficult.
The didn't give Dad the puppy, much to his grumbling. I really think he needs to shop around instead of adopting pets on a whim. He's a very high-strung, bi-polor man. Getting the wrong dog could make for a very unhappy home.
