Everyone has an ugly shirt, shorts, sweats, something that is so comfortable but you can't bring yourself to put it in the Goodwill or it's so bad that not even Goodwill would take it. What's yours?

Mine is a grey pair of old Naval Academy sweatpants. They make me look heavy but I love them. They are about 20 years old and have worn spots all on them but they are so comfortable. Sometimes when it's really cold I like to sleep in them. One of these years I know I'm going to have a formal burial service. I've even considered a burial at sea for them.
A

So what's yours?

A Murray State University "Racer's Edge" Fencing Tournament t-shirt. The bloody (literally) thing is 17 years old, but I still wear it, especially when I am sick. My wife continues to attempt to dispose of it, saying that the blood stains from an overenthusiastic saber bout aren't hygenic. I figure that after 17 years, any biohazardous remains are gone. I also have a West Point sweatshirt (Annabelle) that I steadfastly refuse to get rid of, but it is only 15 years old.

Just my tuppence.

I did have a Split Pea Soup Green shirt that I dearly loved biggrin.gif and my Wife threw it away because she did not like it. sad.gif

I found it and dug it out. biggrin.gif

She threw it away again. sad.gif

I found it and dug it out again. biggrin.gif

She then poured a lot of Bleach on it and it ate holes in it. sad.gif She said it was an accident. dry.gif

I have never found another shirt like it since. cry.gif

Oh poor Richard! If I ever find an ugly peagreensoup shirt in some thrift store, I'll buy the godaweful thing for you, OK? Now, stop crying. wink.gif

I have a red Christmas sweatshirt, and a pink flowered sweatshirt I painted when I was pregnant eleven years ago. The pink one has been worn so much (three kids worth, plus many comfy days) that it is in tatters. It has become indecent to wear in public, so I use it when I color my hair. (just highlights of course, nothing to do with gray rolleyes.gif ) The red one I still cling to, even though it has become so thin it is almost see through in places. I've worn it year round, in the off-season I turn it inside out.

Oh Sis, I wasn't just because it was Split Pea Soup Green. It was a heavy short sleeve banlon shirt. It was sooooo comfortable and warm to boot. Ahhhh just the memories of it. rolleyes.gif

Many many moons ago, I had a bright yellow sleepshirt with a picture of Snoopy on top of his dog house and the caption read "I think I'm allergic to morning!".
I adored that shirt!! I wore it for years until it literally fell to pieces in the wash. I was heartbroken when I pulled it out. Kept the shreds around until my hubby insisted the thing had to go. (I then hid the largest pieces wayyy back in the closet. One day I'll make a small pillow out of them, or something. Flannel shirts are heaven!)

Did I mention I'm a packrat? rolleyes.gif biggrin.gif

P.S. You'll still find shirts of his from our college days in his side of the closet...yellowed, faded, holed, but still there. NO! I don't let him wear them now, even if he wanted to!!

a short denim dress that I like to wear every summer. It is hotter than H**l here in Arizona and I love to wear that dress everywhere. Couldn't fit into it last year and I doubt I can fit into it this summer either. sad.gif

So what's yours?

How 'bout a Viking funeral biggrin.gif ?

Mine is an old pair of Reeboks that were the most comfortable shoes I ever had. I still wear them, but only when I'm exercising.

My good buddy, George Frayne (aka Commander Cody) gave me 2 t-shirts with his art work on them. He signed both of them. I wanted one to put away forever and wear one all the time. I get more comments about that t-shirt.

I promised George I would get out to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, some day and check out the paintings he was commisioned to do for the lobby for the "Grand Openening".

OK, OK, so it's not clothing but it's still something I have pride in and won't part with.

It was a really, really close second to my Commander Cody t-shirt but my Hamilton pocket watch collection has to be right there. All of the watches, I have restored and are in good running condition. Since Hamilton went out of business in 1969 and some of the parts are not available anymore, I had to make some of the parts. It does help when you have $40,000 in watch making tooling to do that but it still gives you a sense of pride when you see one of the old time pieces come to life.
