Hi everyone! I'm new here... my name is Amy. My husband and I live on the Ohio/Michigan line on Lake Erie. We enjoy a lot of outdoor activities including but not limited to hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating, and just plain walking around. We have grown twin boys that just moved out this summer and so we are rediscovering a new romance between us. My lovebirds just laid 4 nice pretty eggs and I hope to be handfeeding baby birds shortly. They will be thieir fist clutch since I have gotten them so I really hope they are fertile and will hatch. My mom has been researching our family history but has run into a few problems. She got as far as our people coming to America but there seems to be a shortage of records in Ireland. I think she told me there was a church fire or somthing that destroyed all family records. She has been to Ireland a few times looking for more info but keeps coming up empty. I'm not really involved with the search, I just found thru her that I enjoy the music. I have tried a few online radio stations but some of them just disappeared or somehting. But I really like this one. I usually have it on in the evenings and late into the nite. I like to sleep with it on. (I think i drive my husband nuts with it. LOL) Well, anyway, looking forward to knowing everyone here. Oh yeah! almost forgot! To ValaneyValaun, it can't be all that bad living in Canada! When researching our family history we found one branch of the family went to Canada! We even had a meeting with them a few years back and they were a great bunch of people!

"You thought the leaden winter would bring you down forever, But you rode upon a steamer to the violence of the sun. And the colors of the sea blind your eyes with trembling mermaids, And you touch the distant beaches with tales of brave Ulysses: How his naked ears were tortured by the sirens sweetly singing, For the sparkling waves are calling you to kiss their white laced lips." "The tiny purple fishes run laughing through your fingers, And you want to take her with you to the hard land of the winter." Tales Of Brave Ulysses by Eric Clapton and Martin Sharp

May the Irish hills caress you. May her lakes and rivers bless you. May the luck of the Irish enfold you. May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

If age is a learning experience, I should be a genius by now...

"I'm great. I can't see but I'm good." "Try using both eyes." "Oh, oh yeah that's better." "Think you can stand?" "You mean I'm not?"
Top O' the mornin to you all, despite the fact that it's afternoon here, and probably later where you all are.
My name's oldraven, (Adam E. Reeves in actuality), and I just stumbled upon this today in my search for worthwhile Celtic radio. It seems I've found it.
I hail from New Scotland, Canada, and love all things Celtic. I hope to keep an ear out here, and an eye on the forums.
I have one request, please get a larger choice of Stan Rogers tunes on here. I see only two, and they are hardly his best. Perhaps his most well known, but not his best. The Genie C, The House of Orange, The Witch of the Westmoorland, all songs I'm sure you'd all love.
Anywho, nice to have found this community. I hope I'll get to know a few of you, or more if possible.

"I am a Canadian by birth, but I am a Highlander by blood and feel under an obligation to do all I can for the sake of the Highlanders and their literature.... I have never yet spoken a word of English to any of my children. They can speak as much English as they like to others, but when they talk to me they have to talk in Gaelic."
-Alexander Maclean Sinclair of Goshen (protector of Gaelic Culture)
Yeah, Stan Rogers! My favorite is Northwest Passage. My favorite CD is live fron Halifax! If we're going Canadian here, I want Garnett Rogers, and James Keligan, and Irish Connection. Oh, and Oliver Schoerer(sp?), and don't forget Penny! Hmmm, some of this may not be Celtic enough though.....Oh well, Loreena's Celtic enough to make up for the rest of it!
Nice. Stan and Garnett are the only two there that I recognize, (and Loreena, of course), so pardon my ignorance. Northwest Passage is a great tune, and it's also very depressing to listen to while moving out west. If you want to know my life story, just listen to The Idiot. I believe that's on 'Home in Halifax', where he speaks of Morris Dancers.
Hey! The name's LilithBurns, but most people call me Phabius, not that anyone here has too. Burns is my middle named. I was named after my grandparents who have way way old Scottish and Irish history. We were a bunch of Gaelic/Celts that came from Lancashire in the south, northward to the south bank of the River Clyde in Scotland. The fam came to America in like the late 1800s and here I am! Anyway, that's the lowdown on me. Good to be here, hope to have fun!!!!
