Since we know where he's buried, I imagine tissues samples COULD still be taken, should the right people request, and permission be granted.
Just a thought...

QUOTE (scotborn @ 27-Mar-2008, 04:26 PM) | anybody ever seen the commitments, its about an irish group of misfits who start a 'black soul' group. |
Oh yeah! Saw it first time when it first came out on home video way back when...it's still one of my favorites, not to mention the great music.
In addition to many already mentioned here....I watched the tale end of Into the West yesterday. I'd seen it before years ago, but would love to watch it in its entirety again. Beautiful scenery and I loved the story. |

Thanks I'll look for that one.
Yes but John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of any wrongdoing, though criticized for using poor judgement.

As many times as Ralph Nader has thrown his hat in the ring.....you'd think by now we'd scratch our heads and say...hmmmm maybe he's got a point! lol
I agree with what gwenlee said about our forefathers turning somersaults in their graves and planning another revolution. They'd probably want to give us all a good thrashing for starters. |

I'll certainly check out those sites!
As far as membership in a clan association for me? It is really hard...because my family tree goes back very strongly into several - Campbell, Stewart, McDonald, Douglas, Munro, Ross, de Brus, MacKenzie, Fraser, Graham, Comyn, Baliol, (WAY back there!), to name just a few (and some of these are on both my mom's and my dad's side!) The list goes on and on...and for hundreds of years longer that we've been in America (some since the 1600s.). I'd feel that if I decided to join one I'd be disrespecting the others, know what I mean? The blood of all of them pumps through my veins!
So, I'm a member of the Celtic Heritage Society, usually volunteer in some compacity for our annual Celtic Fest, when I can, and attend whether I'm volunteering or not. My teenaged son enjoys going to these things and it brings his own pride to the surface, knowing he IS of that ilk and not just a "wishiwas wannabe". |

Well said, all of you!
My maternal great grandfather was a Confederate soldier. I know for a fact that he as well as many others were opposed to slavery and knew it to be a shameful abomination.
What they fought so bravely to defend was their homelands. The "main" issue wasn't slavery, as so many would have you believe, but states rights. |

Besides reading up on the subject online, I'm wanting to go by the library the next time I have TIME.....and check out a book or two, The Rebel King is just one of them I'm wanting to read.
Though I've always been interested in the history... found out a week ago...we have family line that goes back to de Brus and beyond. Icing on the cake!
Needless to say I was more than just a little surprised and elated.

QUOTE (Camac @ 12-Feb-2008, 09:01 PM) | 12/02/08
To those members who are really into Scotlands' History I would like to mention that whilst in Scotland last October I watched one of the series "The Clans" the night I watched it it was about the Clan Campbell and one of the asides they brought up was that they seem to have proof that Robert the Bruce was a Leper. This fact was of course kept secret from the people at the time as no one would have followed him and History would have taken a far different course. In the movie Braveheart (piece of garbage) it was his father that was portrayed as having Leprosy.
Camac. |
I don't think we'll ever really know what exactly it was, not without "forensic" testing anyway! History states he had an "unclean" disease, which could mean leprosy, syphillis, psoriasis, some sort of neuropathic malady even. Who's to know? |

You'd think if they just left the clocks alone, that Nature would take care of the rest. |
