Celtic Radio Community > RPG - The Playground! > Highlander Castle Novel Adaptation

I'd like to play with this. The story is getting to the point where it actually follows a plot, and that's just too nice to waste on an online RPG. Would anybody be upset if I decided to write this out in novel form?

Oh, and if I should ever get something published, and this is one of them, I'd be sure to split something like 5% profits to each of you involved. (just don't hold your breath, tongue.gif ). Or maybe just donate like 25% to Highlander Radio. (and the pipe dream keeps going)

That's a great idea! I'd buy it! biggrin.gif

I think it needs doing, although there would be quite a bit of reformatting that would need to be done, and probably revisions within the posts. I'd kindof like to see what came out of it of someone reformatted it from this thread into prose. Kindof seems only right though, that all involved should be listed as authors of course, with whoever reformatted it listed first.

Let's see, maybe Aon could get a nice shot of a true Highland Castle, or someone already involved could anyway, and then send that to one of the graphic artists among us to fix up the cover

And maybe it would be a good idea to also list who was the main author of what characters

I'm with you, Aaed. I'm completely aware of how much of an undertaking this is. Which is why I came here and asked you all first. Full credit for character development, and such, to each person involved. This is a group effort. smile.gif band.gif

But I too am quite interested to see how this would read if it was written in a more focused manner, as one story instead of ten, but just as much about each character. It would have to be from an omnipotent perspective, so all the I's and Me's would have to be removed to keep any one character from taking focus from the story. And, yes, some things that have nothing to do with the story may be simply removed.

Imagine reading a book full of amazing characters and then being able to see a person behind each one, rather than one singular credit to one author. It would be interesting, to say the least.

Aaediwen, I like what you say about putting the story to prose, or song. I'm a huge fan of using lyrics in stories. It would be a very cool acompaniment to a book. smile.gif We should meet in chat soon to mull this over.

For some reason, I've got a good feeling about all this.

Just remember to invite the characters to your first book signing in NYC biggrin.gif

Yeah, buy your tickets now. tongue.gif

If nothing else, this is a good chance for me to excersice my writing skills again, and remember the things I've forgotten.

First thing to do, buy a new Thesaurus. Can't find my old one to save my life, and you can't write without a thesaurus.

well good luck. This thing isn't my baby and you can do whatever you want with my char... but there is alot of stylistic stuff that has to be done...

Friends of mine and I wrote something some years ago and published it with a small fantasy publisher (it was never translated and never sold all that well) but we were very proud of it and it was a huge undertaking. If you need help just ask.

I would be more than happy to help if needed. At the moment I'm in the middle of my own novel and very stuck.

If you should get published I would like my share to be donated to Celtic Radio.

It is a great idea.

Any linguists who can help create these strange languages we chant and sing in?

Posted by: Aon_Daonna 13-Feb-2004, 09:54 PM
=/ the easiest way to do that (as a little tip) is going to find the grammar rules of another language (like chinese or maybe finnish) and start inventing words for certain things and rules for the declination of verbs and such...

Thanks for the offer Aon_Daonna. I sent a rough draft to my step father. He has the honor of being published 3 times over. He gave me a list of things to work on with my story.

The problem now is to find the time to sit down and write. Between work, kids and packing to move into a new house there is very little.

I will keep you in mind though.

Thanks again.

yeah.. I know that problem... I usually don't have the time/can't be bothered to do brainstorms for myself.. don't mind doing it for others though =)
