On our radio broadcast tonight I played the ballad of Tam Lin, as I mentioned before, I'm very taken with this ballad.

I offered a Celtic Connection T shirt to the first listener who could phone the station and tell me the name of the lass mentioned (9 times) in the ballad.

(her name is Janet)

It was a way to get listeners to take note of the words.

We also played for the first time in Tasmania Wicked Tinkers from one of the CD's they so generously donated, along with Barleyjuice (also donated) and Clan an Drumma.

I'm hearing so much fantastic music on HR, it's enhancing my own humble broadcast in so many ways.

The t-shirt was a great idea! You must be very proud of your broadcast, as you should be.

I didn't realize you were a jockey! That is great Tessiecelt! Couldn't imagine a better job than playing celtic music! What is the station and where?

Thanks Paul, actually, you would be amazed at how similar the music is that we both play - except you have so much more, over the years Ross and I have accumilated a lot of the good stuff, Battlefiled Band, Altan, Dervish, Pipe bands of all sorts, Scottish and Irish mostly.

Plus some groups like Barleyjuice and Wicked Tinkers send us CD's. Ross has a relative with KRL Lochshore in Scotland, so he gets sent a lot of free stuff.

We have a great time, it's all voluntary, actually it costs us..we paid for the shirts and give them away, all we can do is about promoting celtic music and culture in Tasmania.

HR has been an inspiration to me and a great source of new music to buy sad.gif biggrin.gif

Sadly, the station doesn't have the resources to go online, but then, with HR we don't need to!
