Mommy is unfair. She won't let daddy take paws to the pet store without her along, just because all the pretty young women are drawn to the cute puppy like iron to a magnet.
Poor Maisky. You are so mistreated. LOL

In today's episode of "As The Puppy Turns": Our fearless "mommy" reports:
Hi, I watered as planned, then let Paws out. She was wonderful. Ran around chasing her ball and POOPED - terrific right? So I decided to come in for a while. Well she had OTHER plans. She found a stick and began to run from me and she ran and ran. She wouldn't "sit" or "come" and I couldn't catch her. Finally I did, but when I told her to "drop" the stick she bit me. I spanked her on the snout and carried her into the house. She is in the pantry right now. I didn't want to put her in her bed since that is a 'good' place and she is mad at me right now I'm sure - if her memory extends that far! I'll bring her down and cuddle with her shortly. I'm not mad at her at all - I know she's just being a pupppy - sigh.
Today's episode of "As The Puppy Turns" could be entitled "As The Stomach Turns".
The little monst....ahhhhh.....darling is starting to figure out that it is not good to poop in the house. Her physical control and ability to communicate her needs are still not there, however. She tried covering it up on the rug, with obvious disasterous results. Her latest ploy for hiding the evidence is...you guessed it....to eat the evidence. Aside from turning a bit green, the "mommy" is watching her closely to prevent the "destruction of evidence" and letting Paws know we dont approve. Sigh, puppys and children can be soooo disgusting.
Geez - why did you step on my niece's toes? I realize that her feet are almost as big as yours, but still...

Maisky, you do realize you now have two owners. Her is a picture of a terrorist in training.
I recognize that the household now has a new Queen. I thought about that at 1 am as I was taking her outside. Bathrobe and slipper time. She is teething, so she has to go more often. Sigh...the things we do for our dog!
Today's issue of "As The Puppy Turns": (note the dog ate monday and tuesday's issues).
Paws did SO SO well in training today. We worked ONLY on "COME". The book says to take nylon cord and tie it to her collar, let her wander off and then say "come", simultaneously jerking the cord and when she comes to you giving her a tidbit. Repeatingly of course. Well, we did this 8 times. And she was great. We will do it again tomorrow. Eventually the book says we will not need a tidbit/reward - simply praise; nor a cord.
Paws went out right after you left and did "heel" twice around the pool running with me. VERY well. Then she played by herself on the grass where she peed and POOPED! When I said "come" she came, and when she tried to pick up rocks and I said "no" she dropped them - amazing.

It appears that training "mommy" is coming along nicely. Paws is a good trainer.
"Paws looked LONGLING at the door. I really wish she'd bark! Paws just went out and peed and pooed. I of course gave her a treat after each. I read that if we'd attach a bell to the doorknob and train her to ring it by taking her paw and batting the bell before we take her out she will begin to do that when she wants to go out. We ought to try. She is DEFINITLY smart enough!
and a bit later:
I just fed Paws breakfast and fresh water. She took a BIG bite of food and hopped up on her sofa to eat the food. NOW she will have mining to do!"
Get the impression that Queen Paws is in charge of the household?
Maisky! I have SO enjoyed reading "As the Puppy Turns." So hilarious and yet so true of puppy training! Please continue as I am so enjoying this and remembering my days of mommy of puppies!
