"Your Puppy did in MY loaf of bread!! She reached up on the counter and grabbed the edge of it, snatched it and ran downstairs with it in her mouth. By the time I caught her the bag of bread was ripped and so battered that I had to toss it.
I just retrieved your earphones from her.
Earlier as I was transferring laundry from the washer to the dryer she stole a sock I dropped. She made a beelinne for the downstairs with the sock in her mouth and I finally caught her in the office!
That puppy is a real terror all right. Women who want another baby should just get a puppy!"
The little monst....errr.....sweety, is 12 weeks old now.

Sounds like a little Chessie and her owner need some training. Need a referal?
Seriously, Chessies are noted to be just as "resolute" (read "headstrong") as ANY sled dog breed. You are in for plenty of challenges, but assuming you persevere and remain consistent the reward will be an AWESOME dog.

"You can't run with the big dogs if you still pee like a puppy".
Paws grew a new name this morning. I can't repeat it here. Things got quiet, so my wife went looking for her. She was VERY quietly gnawing on a corner of my wife's new coffee table......sigh, Chessies and so SNEAKY!
No money retrieving. Good idea, though. Early morning success for puppy: did her business outside two mornings in a row. Yesterday it was raining. Today just cold. Bedroom slipers not waterproof. My bathrobe is a might drafty. The things we do for our puppys.
Paws just really scared herself. She knocked the top off the (paper) shredder and all the contents of the shredder felll over (it was full). She got spooked and ran out of the office and through the Gohonzon room, up the stairs and hid in the pantry. I unplugged the shredder, dumped the container, reset the shredder in place but did NOT replug the plug. I doubt that she will try that one again but I'm not taking any chances! She came down and climbed in my lap for protection - she kept glancing at the shredder! I finally made her get down so I could type. Now she's hiding under my desk.
A few minuets earlier Paws and I were outside playing and Paws POOPED on the lawn!! YEA!
And this afternoon: Note that pantry has two closed doors and a baby gate. Should be escape proof.
Richard, I think Paws has figured a way to get out of the pantry. DON'T ask me how. I haven't figured out how she does it. YES my dog is smarter than I am!
So we might consider putting her in her cage when we go to the meeting tonight. K
Paws is ALL washed. WHEW am I beat after that ordeal. She had never seen a bath before, and getting that pup clean was interesting. Part of grooming a Chessie is introducing her to a hair dryer so she can be groomed afterward. She was finally clean and sweet. So I put her in the pantry so I could clean the bathroom and tub.
But the real clincher to my early morning was when I returned to the pantry and she'd pooed AGAIN and stepped in it. I thought I'd scream! - opps - I did!
Maisky, Please keep "As The Puppy Turns" coming. I am so enjoying it. Been there, done that and it makes me smile. Our labs are so old that they have reverted back to needing to be housebroken all over again.
In today's episode we see that training is proceeding successfully. Paws now has "mommy" trained to sit and groom her, pet her, cuddle with her and adore her for hours on end.
The result of all the grooming is the most beautiful Chessy pup I have ever seen. She will be champion show quality, it she lives (and is not strangled) to grow up.
In today's episode, the 3 month old Paws successfully took care of her "business" twice in the morning. Once at 4:30 (on Saturday), when SHE wanted to get up and once at 6:30 when Daddy was ready to get up. She is being a little angel......I am worried! What dasterdly deeds is she cooking up?
I love these stories of my little niece! Sure wish I could help "mommy" pet her and groom her. Also make me happy that Mathilda isn't a puppy anymore. Too bad she won't retrieve money as opposed to eating the checks. Keep the stories coming, my brother.

Leprechauns, castles, good luck and laughter. Lullabies, dreams and love ever after. A thousand welcomes when anyone comes... That's the Irish for You!
Today we learned how to did a hole and plant shrubs! Paws isn't much with the planting part but joined enthusiastically in the digging! The the grumpy old mommy made daddy take Paws inside so she wouldn't help so much. Paws has decided she really likes her "crate" (steel cage). She sleeps in it and spends time there when we have to go shopping.
Mommy is unfair. She won't let daddy take paws to the pet store without her along, just because all the pretty young women are drawn to the cute puppy like iron to a magnet.
