Favorite Celtic singer/group, Vote!

Ghah! Too many of my favorites up there to make a choice...

One I'd like to see around on the playlist but haven't though, is Catherine-Ann MacPhee. Anyone else ever heard of her? She put out 3 albums that I know of (and own), between 1987 and 1994 - I'm still looking to find out if she did any more. Great voice, all her albums are in the Scots Gaelic, which for some reason seems hard to find generally.

The albums, in no particular order:

Altan are fantastic. I saw them live at celtic connections in Glasgow and they were wonderful . The singer has the sweetest voice.

My favorite is "The Poxy Boggards" to bad that they only have one song here.

I think Loreena McKennitt is great, but her music is hard to find in my area.

Emerald Rose, has to be one of the greatest Celtic Rock Groups around

I voted 'Other'.
My favourite's probably The Crossing, or Clannad.
Most of the bands listed I've haven't heard yet.

Out of the list I had to choose the Glengarry Bhoys. They always get everyone on their feet. I live in western New York and I get to see them often.

A special mention must be made about a celtic rock band out of Buffalo, NY.
Kilbrannan has a growing fan base and perform regularly in the Norhteast, primarily in New York State.

I'm new to this forum and new to the site (although i'vbe been listening to it for a few years now). I may be off here, but the first celtic CD I ever bought is still my favorite- Sons of Somerled. Steven McDonald does awesome work. His music is haunting and uplifting at the same time. He also throws in quite a bit of a history lesson when he can. I also like Gary Stadler-although he may be considered new age he is played on this site. He is one to listen to when you go to bed at night or just want to relax. Steve McDonald is who you listen to anytime you need an emotional jarring around.

I really do not know who is my favorite, but a couple I do Like that I have not seen listed are BARLEYCORN and FAIR ISLE FOLK. They have a sound that appeals to me.

I'm new as well, but I love the voices of Mary Black and Karen Matheson

My vote, of course, had to go for Loreena McKennitt

All of the music is stellar, but my #1 and #2 picks should be Loreena McKennitt and Heather Dale

I certainly consider Gary Stadler as New Age, used Fairy of the Woods to relax after class in college, most of the time found myself falling asleep without meaning to. Nice stuff =) And the first insturmental I found that I could listen to.
