Paula! Those guys looked terrific! Make-up is definitely an art. Did I tell you I did makeup for Merle Norman? Was going to go back to school to be an aesthetician. I forgot, did you tell me you went to school for makeup artistry and esthetician?
Anyway, I had a ball doing make-up! I would love to see more of your facial creations! Show more! hey! The guys are pretty easy on the eyes too!
Oh Paula! I know that it is art. I paint portaits on canvas and paper, but whenever I was doing makeup at Merle Norman, I always felt like the person's face was just another canvas. So you are definitely an artist! And I want to see more faces you have done! I subscribe to all these beauty magazines just so I can look at all the makeup done on them. It is a real artform and you have to be very creative and know color very well. I was deeply upset with Kevin Aucoin died. I thought he was a genius! I have several of his books. Show me more!
Funny, here we spell esthetician with an a in front. Wonder why that is? It costs about $10,000 to go to school for that here, which is why I have put it off.
But Rose, I can't draw or paint on canvas or paper to save my life! you can do all of that , and more !
I had to get my Beauty Lisc too, here in PA , when I went to school, you could not touch anyone in a shop with out one,, period.. Now they break them down.
As for the spelling...I really don't know,, My CIDESCO cert is spelled with an A ... the line I use at the Salon spells it with out it... The peel at the Enhanced Images place , it has an A... LOL its anyones guess...
I will beat my scanner in to submission ,, and find some stuff to post for you.. If not Ill take them to Kinkos and try them on a disk, I need to do that anyway ..
I thought the make up looked great Paula (I'm color blind so I don't know what awful pink stuff you are talking about )
Rose - Arminta and I are playing a show as a duet next week and once again I found myself without any duet photos
So I took about 2 hours yesterday afternoon to make one. I did a couple of things to make the edit look believable. I cut and pasted sections of the wall in different places and then made them semi tranparent so that I could see myself and Arminta behind them.
I made all of the cut at mortar lines and then blurred them where they connected until I could not tell myself where the line had been. I used the clone feature (Photo Shop 7) in a couple of smaller places. When the perspective changed I used the skew feature to change the angles on the brick lines and resized the bricks appropriately.
finally I flattened the whole mess and used the blur tool to blend in our body outlines with the new wall.
Thanks for the flowers Keltic
Peace to all
Mikel
BTW I'm almost to 200 and trying to think of a really cool title

Paula! It doesn't matter if you can paint or draw on paper or linen canvas. You can paint on another canvas ......skin! And from what little I saw, I can see you do it well. Do you have a porfolio? I was working on one. Merle Norman changed their policy here that no one could touch another person without a beauty liscense; hence, there went my job. I was stuck cleaning the store, selling cosmetics, which I loved, but the cleaning of the store every day killed my back, so I had to quit. Anyway, it is getting that way here too that you cannot do makeup on anyone without a license. But I don't have $10,000 right now and with a bad back, I kind of gave up the dream.
Mike! Thanks for taking the time to explain to me the process you went through to do your photo project. It is just too cool. I really love it.
I see you're almost at 200 posts and I am sure you will come up with a great title. I finally changed my title -- Paula will know about this one --- it is a place in Scotland (probably fictitious) that is in the series of Scottish romance books we are both reading. I am also a member of the a such called group that is taken from the books. Oh! Fun and fantasy ! I do indeed love it!
I do have a portfolio..you almost have to .. about ten years ago, I started to put most of it on video.. beats sleping around a book full of tear sheets and comps... See here , in PA you could work at a Dept Store, or a place like Sephora. As long as it isnt a Salon, the Board rules do not apply... Makes it dicey here for Spa workers..most are not trained . Don't give up dreams Rose .. we have to talk about other avenues you could try, such as your local film board !
I did a little research, and found out why the different spellings, First of , its a study from Europe.. then there is the study of, and the application of the study .. so there! another mystery solved.
Rave.. ty ty ! I would love to be able to do that with some pics I have ! Is it very hard to do ? AH ha I just read 2 hours ... I figured it had to be fairly intense... great job !!!!!!
I love your new Title Rose! You West facing Tower YOU ! lol
Have a great day, all you very artist Celtic Hearts !
You are a make-up artist. You might be able to make even me beautiful, or beautiful enough to elicit from my husband a response beyond - good, fine or nice. I'm coming right over. Brew the tea, I'll be there in 2 hours.
Seriously, it most certianly is art and you are an artist.
Hey, Rose, I recognised the place of your title as well. And if you have the desire to do creative make-up, most community theaters are dying for volunteers to do make-up, sets, anything. You would be an amazing addition to any theater.

Elspeth .. Mother Nature made you beautful...... inside and out !
NARS and MAC can only take care of the outside.. and that part is easy .. I've seen your pic..and I won't blather on about how pretty you are.. There will be no dealing with you then !
I think most everyone looks better with a lil touch here and there.. I'd be happy to glam you up a bit.. and I won't make you look like a tart,, I promise ! gah I hate that...
Kettle is on too !
Rose , that was a great idea from Elspeth.. they would keep her buzy night and day!
So Paula and Elspeth, you recognized where I got my title, eh? thought you both would! I actually belong to the Arizona Ladies of Lallybroch, so I thought appropriate.
That is a great idea about the theatre. I live in a small town so not sure how active our theatre is, but it is something to check into. I was going to go work at the department stores and do the over-the-counter thing, but my back just will not tolerate me standing on my feet for very long anymore. Besides, I live an hour from the nearest mall! The only thing they have here in my town is the Merle Norman salon I worked at and Super Wal-Mart
Paula are you familiar with Paula Begoun? I have several of her books. Thanks for doing the research on the a or esthetician title! Interesting, eh?
Ooh, show off time. Here is one of my painting of buffalo Indian dancers. I photographed these guys in New Mexico and did the painting from that.
That picture is so cool Rose. Especially since I just finished reading a book - The Children of First Man where some of the characters wore the buffalo headdresses. Gave me a visual of what I just read.
