WHERE I WAS BORN

In the place
where I was born,
north winds blow.
They would braid
my hair for me,
kissing my face
with fingers,
knitted from
the storm..
tossed waves,
that grasped
the sea walls
edge, heaving
great, sodden,
shoulders of
the north seas rage.
I would turn my face,
once more.
to feel that
winds embrace,
I would be lover
to the storm,
In the place
where I was born.

Has anyone thrown a Haggis dowhill yet? I hope everyone enjoyed my old family recipe. In Aberdeen it is said we have hardy women and hardy cattle. ALL must have a strong stomoach to cook a Haggis let alone eat one! wink.gif

I have already posted a cool.gif traditional recipe for Haggis. If you want an updated less gruesome one let me know. Otherwise, start by killing a duck, bleeding an ox (the blood from the throat is preferred) and rip out the stomach of a sheep NOT the lung. My job when I was young was strangling the duck.

walkman.gif I was born and grew up in Scotland. I helped make haggis. If you actually threw a haggis downhill. 1. You would not hesitate to let it go and few would run after it

Recipe
.
The entrails of a duck, onions and oatmeal, mix and bind it with the blood of an ox. Wrap it in the stomach of a sheep and boil it until done. A LONG time. slice and serve.

Since I know what is in the traditional haggis, you may chase it ! smile.gif smile.gif

NOW, if you want the Black Pudding Recipe dont through away the blood of the ox!!!!

Thank you for your welcome. I do like the music of the Celtic Nations. Being part of that 44 allows for so much variety it is impossible not to find exactly what you want. That includes Roy Orbison, John Prine etc etc. I like the traditional music and right now my favorite is a relatively new performer Dougie MacClean.

I have been in the USA for a long time but no matter where you plant heather, heather it will be, do not expect it to bear roses. I was a teenager when I left. My mother was a Campbell of Dalgleish, my grandmother was a Gordon, My great grandmother was a Stuart so and and so on. I am sure that most if not all of you already know that clan affiliations are taken from your mother and grandmothers.

My father was born in Scotland but his ancestry was Irish. He was a Fleming which is a sept of the Murray clan.

I have lived in Alaska,Washington, Arizona, Missouri, New Jersey and now in Idaho

Thank you once again for your warm welcome. smile.gif smile.gif

I was born in Aberdeen, Scotland. I grew up in a Nationalist family and I rejoice that we are finally gaining our separation form England. I went to school in England and had many English friends. It is the English government and its explotation of the Scottish people and Scotlands resources that I fought and fight against.

Like many Scots before me I came to the USA to be able to gain a higher level of education than was then availble to a working class Lassie.

"My heart's in the Highlands.
My heart is not here.
My heart's in the high
lands chasing the deer.
Chasing the wild deer and following the Roe.
My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go"

A poem by a great poet who wrote these words for all of us.
