Celtic Radio Community > General Discussion > Sadness Like I've Never Felt

Posted by: Keltic 20-Jan-2013, 11:06 PM
I apologize for the following and please understand that I'm now writing this because I am trying to stay strong for my family and colleagues at this tragic time. I just have to release some pain like I've never felt before.

For those who don't know me, I am a Celtic jeweller but I am also a martial arts instructor.

Last Monday, I received a phone call from a colleague telling me that she wanted me to hear something before I heard it on the news. Two of my young students, Katie (6 years old) and Alex 10 (years old), were murdered by their mother who in turn, took her own life. Another student, their father, found the children and mother in their basement.

This last week was surreal. We had the difficulty this week of having to tell our four children, three who had close ties to the children and one who also shared many conversations with Jon (the father) about their mutual love of guitar, about the deaths and the circumstances.

I am finding this really difficult right now so I'm going to stop writing right now. Please, whatever your beliefs, send prayers, thoughts and whatever you have to Jon as the children are layed to rest on Monday Jan 21. As hard as I find this, I can't begin to fathom what he is feeling and what is in his future.

I send up smoke for the children and their father.
I also do for the mother, what awful thoughts were going through her head to make her do this.

Keltic, you owe an apology to no one. I am glad you felt the liberty to share with the community here about this awful tragedy. My heart goes out to you and your dear family. I just recently buried the dad of one of our church families who was found dead at home. This old life can sure be a challenge.

Certainly, I will continue to keep you and all involved in prayer before my Lord. May the sweet Lord Jesus minister to you and yours in a very tangible way.

Take care and stay in touch.

Thank you all. There is a reason why a lot of us may leave this community from time to time but we always seem to find our way back here.

It's hard to believe that anything could cause a parent to do any harm to a child, let alone this.

This is truly tragic. They will all be in my prayers. Though there are many reasons that these things happen today most relate to our economic times. There is a lot of stress behind closed doors in all of our neighborhoods.

May all find peace. Thoughts and prayers total those that are dealing with the aftermath.

Our prayers are with the children, mother, father and those effected.

I can not imagine having to deal with the innocent loss of life in such a manner. I've often wondered what turns people, good people, into killers and what thoughts did they have to become that.

There is no clear answer, and no clear reason, other than this world will always have an element of evil that must be confronted at every opportunity.

Prayers and condolences.

Thank you all. Life does move forward for the rest of us. Every event and every person that comes into our lives, defines who we are and I was fortunate to have had these beautiful children in mine although, for too short a time. I don't know if we will ever see Jon (father) again. He has a burden to carry and may not want to put it on others.

Hopefully, none of us will ever have an event like his define who we are.
