Would it surprise anybody that i voted for "other"? :D Though i have to say that i love Capercaille, The Corries and most Scottish Folk stuff as well. But nobody beats Runrig and "Dust" Thanks to the person who requested that :D

I had to vote for Christy Moore. It's from listening to his music that I've been hooked on Celtic music. He sorta jump started my passion for Celtic music.

I agree. Christy is fab!!! He makes the hair on the back of your neck stand on end when you hear him live. He just stands there with his guitar and enthralls.

Voted as I must, but just saw a group last night who would never make the poll.  They are called The Hooligans, and were at a place in Philadelphia called Maggie O'Neills.  WOW, what a show!  I like bands that encourage folks to join-in on the singing, the piping, and the celtic dancing!

I found their website this afternoon at www.hooligansusa.com.
Interesting mix of traditional music and soccer hooligan attitude!

BTW, I just downloaded some more of Ms. McKennitt's songs. I love "Marrakesh Night Market". "The Mystic's Dream" is ok but not great. You all gotta admit the lady has songs that are quite entrancing.

I have to agree with ye there, MDF3530....her songs are very entrancing. The thought and work she has put into creating some of them is really something too.

Solas, Silly Wizard, De Danann, Niamh Parsons, Tannahill Weavers.... I better stop before I list my whole collection. Too many great bands to chose just one.

Oh yeah, did I mention Gaelic Storm? Don't know who their fiddle player is, but they can rip a great Tam Lin Reel!

The Brobdingnagian Bards are an excellent duo from Texas!!! We have a number of their songs on the broadcast and they have been very supportive of our broadcast. Placing links on their site and providing us with a number of their CD's.

In fact, I just heard from Mark a few weeks back. He is sending us their latest CD - Memories of Middle - coming soon on the broadcast! I am really looking forward to this one!

Here is a link to their site for more information:

I'm new to the forum, just found it tonight. I voted "other" as my favorite is a group that performs primarily at American Colonial era living history events in the Eastern U.S.A., called "Father, Son and Friends". I may change my mind as I keep listening here, though.
