I'd like to welcome everyone to the new "Member Introduction" forum. Feel free to post your own message about yourself here - members old and new alike. We have moved the member welcome thread to this forum, but feel free to post a new topic on your introduction. It does not need to be part of the welcome thread.
I am Monarch's Own (Yes I love Mercedes Lackey Books) and I live here in North Carolina in between much camouflage uniforms. Yes you guessed right - I live in a military town - Fayetteville, Home of Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base.
Originally I am from Germany and live here in the US since 1997. I love Men in Kilts (even though my husband doesn't wear one - yet ). Otherwise I read Historical Romance and everything about celtic mythology and also I am interested in the Northern gods of the Vikings and Germans.
I am a fan of Richard Wagner Operas and also everything that has to do with Knights. Be it King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table or everything that has to do with the Holy Grail or be it of Knights which rescue damsels in distress. And of course I love Celtic Music - I guess otherwise I wouldn't be here.
Also I like to read some Fantasy like Mercedes Lackey and David Eddings and a few more which would take to long to mention.
As you can see for all the new ones I am already a member for a while but figured I make another introduction since it's been a while since I did my first one.
I thought I'd also introduce myself for all of our new members!
My name is Allen Alderman, and I live in Wytheville, Virginia. I am 40 years old and have been married for the last 18 years to a wonderful woman named Jenette. We have a daughter named Tiffany who is 12 and in the 6th grade. I am a Christian and attend a Pentecostal Holiness church.
I have been a member of Celtic Radio since March 12, 2004. I was introduced to it by my good friend CelticRose on a Gaelic site we both visit. When she first told me about CR, I thought she had said the address was CelticRadio.COM and for a long time I couldn't get in! I am so glad I finally figured out my mistake, though, because I just love this place!! I enjoy listening to the wonderful music here and posting in the various forums. However while the music here is nice, in my opinion it is the people who make this the place I keep coming back to! There are many wonderful people here and I am proud to be able to call them my friends! I am currently the Moderator of the Brittany and Celtic Languages forums and can often be found in the Live Chat room.
I love Celtic music (some of my favorites are Capercaillie, Mary Jane Lamond, Clannad, Dougie MacLean and Loreena McKennitt) and Contemporary Christian music. I also like some rock music like Evanescence, Creed, U2, the Corrs, Sarah McLachlan and Fleetwood Mac. I am trying to learn how to play the tin whistle. I was also trying to learn the piano, but recently I've had to put those on hold. I am tecahing myself to speak Scottish Gaelic and would someday like to also learn Irish Gaelic, Spanish, Russian, and Hebrew. I enjoy reading (favorites include the Bible, Shakespeare, the Left Behind series, and books by Charles de Lint), watching movies (favorites include The Secret of Roan Inish, The Seventh Steam, Dune, and anything with Whoopi Goldberg), walking outdoors, singing, and spending time with my family. I don't like to watch much TV, but when I do I like Survivor, Andromeda, Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis and all of the various Star Trek shows. I don't like sports at all, though I will occasionlly watch the Olympics, ice skating and soccer.

Hi, my name is Mike F. (I don't like giving out my full name over the Internet)
I live in Chicago, Illinois. I am single and I don't have any children, although I love my sister's three kids as if they were my own.
I am a sports fan. I love baseball (WHITE SOX RULE! CUBS DROOL!), football (more college than NFL), basketball (and due to the fact that the team from our state university, the University of Illinois Fighting Illini, is in the NCAA tournament, I'll scream if I hear ONE MORE REFERENCE TO THE 1989 "FLYIN' ILLINI"!!!) and our minor league hockey team, the Chicago Wolves(you'll see the arena they play in tonight if you watch the Illinois-Arizona basketball game).
I have a varied taste in music. I like to say I like just about everything from AC/DC to ZZ Top. My favorite TV programs to watch are American Chopper, CSI, MythBusters, and Monster Garage. For movies, I'm more of an action/sci-fi/fantasy fan, like The Matrix, Blade and LOTR.

I guess I should explain my membership circumstance. I happened across this site while looking for a web radio station for celtic music. I wasn't too impressed with what I found here MUSIC wise, because of the deal with having to download a special player to hear the music at a better quality. But I looked hard at the layout and thought: "hey,....this looks like Invision!"
And lo and behold it was!
I have my own forum with the free version of Invision, so I was curious to see what a payed forum looked like. Yes, I'm nosey, but that's how boards get new members.
I look around and was impressed with the atmosphere of the board over all, and the fact that it was all about celtic culture. Heh, it definately sold me! I always appreciate a well-run board with no flamers and "weird" people. (hopefully you catch my drift)
Ah, now to the part about ME!
My name is Catriona M. (I also dislike posting my full name all over the world) I live in the very southern part of North Carolina. I am a junior in Highschool, and have a great interest in all things Scots'-Irish and Gaelic. (I am scots-irish, german by blood) I listen to all sorts of music. Heh too many types to name, but mostly you can find me listening to Irish and Scottish reels and jigs on the radio and CD's.
I play the flute, and have a HUGE thick book of celtic and folk music that I play from on a daily basis.
I sing, in a choir with over 80 highschoolers, who are ALL HOMESCHOOLED just like me! It's very fun, and In the future I would like to start a celtic music band with vocal and instrumantal repertoire. That will be a while though.
I also look forward to taking this forum by storm and posting as much as possible. Can't wait to get to know all 7000 plus of you! This might take a while....

Many's the men who've battled foe Many the number slain Many the lads have fallen though Scotland shall rise again.
My name is Mark, I'm 45 years old, and I live in Conyers, Georgia, USA (20 miles due east of Atlanta).
I am the father of three: Stephanie (23 and out of college), Stephen (21 and in the US Marines, currently serving in Afghanistan), and Tiffanie (19 starting college).
I am married to the brightest jewel there ever was, Denise.
I have a Bachelors degree from the University of Georgia.
I am an analyst/specialist/computer geek for Delta Air Lines.
I cannot speak Pictish, Scots Gaelic, or the Queen's English. I speak Southern, y'all.
On TV I like any of the Law & Order's and the Vegas and Miami CSI's. When my wife turns on Everybody Loves Raymond I run screaming to my computer and play Diablo II or one of the MechWarrior series.
I could sit on a hillside and listen to the pipes all day.
You can normally find me hanging out in the Politics Online Forum: I'm the one getting beat up by all the mean Liberals.

Hey everyone, I am Susanna. I am 28 years old and live in the middle of North Carolina. I am the moderator for the forums The Parenting Post and Wales. I love Celtic Radio! I have made so many wonderful friends here, and learned so much.
I do have to warn you though, Caitriona, that I am weird. So, just an FYI.....I think it only fair that everyone know I am certifiable Nice to meet all of you.....again.

Hello everyone. My name is Joel Moore and yes I just used my real name on the internet. When I first joined CR in April of 2004, I simply did not know any better and used my own name. I recently varied it a bit by using my middle name, Patrick (Padraig). I was named for the saint. I live in Central Ohio; have been married for almost 24 years - not always happily, but things are good now. Have two boys, 19 and 16. The 16 year old is currently giving mom and I fits. I work for a large, multi-national engineering firm. My job takes me in and out of the office. So, if you don't hear from me for a while, I am out working somewhere, with no computer access. My family came from England, Ireland and Scotland. My mothers parents were immigrants from Poland. During my formative years, my family tended to spend more time with my mother's family, so I was somewhat ignorant of my celtic heritage until a few years ago. I am trying to learn as much as possible. The whole family loves celtic music: Old Blind Dogs, Loreena McKennit, Enya, Andy M. Stewart, etc. I know I've done right by my kids, when the other day there were some bagpipers on TV and my 16 year old turned around and said, "Bagpipes are so cool!"
Hello everyone! My name is Rosemary or Rose as some people like to nickname me. I am a Christian. I live in Arizona with my husband of more than 20 years. We have no human children, but have two wonderful Sheltie dogs that think they are human. I worked for 30 years in the medical field, 20 of that as a medical transcriber. My husband and I moved to central AZ to buy a locksmith business and now I stay at home. I am from southern California originally, but have lived in Georgia, North Carolina and now Arizona for the past 10 years. Love it here! My interests are all things Celtic, especially Scotland and hope to travel there one day. I also love music (love Loreena McKinnett, Clanna An Drumma, Wicked Tinkers, Twin Flame, Capercaillie, Runrig, Bono and U2, The Corrs, Evanescence and many others), art and photography, reading (especially historical fiction romance novels ), Gaelic and going to the Highland games. (I love bagpipes too). I am moderator of The Book Stop here. I am of English, Scots-Irish, and Italian ancestry. I think a wee bit of Welsh too. I found this site by accident a couple years ago when someone from author Diana Gabaldon's site mentioned they listened to Highlander radio. I wanted to hear the Celtic music and discovered this wonderful site as well. Have made some special friends here and hope to continue as new folks come in.
Wow, it is so nice to read about everyone here! I will try to put something together about by mundane life background!
Uh, weird....hmmm, maybe that's why I fit. I am definitely weird, although maybe crazy is a better word. People often think of me as this nice, reserved "young" man until they get to know me and me them!
Yes, the forums are built on invision. It is not a paid version at all, but the free version. I have perhaps modified added 60% of the code to do what it does today. The website uses a bridge to the forum database, but all website pages are completely written by myself. Ok, I will stop now before I bore everyone!
Well I guess I could introduce myself. Anyway, I'm Ceciliastar1. I"ve been a member for almost a year now...wow who knew. I just got a new job so I haven't been in here as often as I used to or would like to be, but I try when I get the chance. I just graduated college and loving the fact that I am done with school FOREVER!!! Until I have children and have to help them with their homework anyway. I dunno, I'm not sure what else to tell anyone. So if any of ya'll got questions about me, or if anyone wants to know the essence of Ceciliastar1 then let me know! haha!

There's a dear little plant that grows in our Isle Twas St . Patrick himself, sure, that set it; And the sun of his labour with pleasure did smile, And with dew from his eye often wet it. It grows through the bog, through the brake, through the Mireland, and they call it the dear little shamrock of Ireland.
Hi Ceciliastar! May I ask what kind of new job you got? Congrats on just finishing college and the new job! What are your hobbies? How did you find this site? Nosy, aren't I?
Hi everyone I'm Gwenlee (my real name, but most of the time I'm just Gwen). I'm 47 and I've been married for 27 year. I get teased when I go to Celtic events because my last name is Latino, so I tell everyone the family dropped the Mac a long time ago. I am Scottish/Cherokee decent some how my family is related to chef John Ross and some are from the town of Rossville which is a town he founded before the removal, so I am told. We also have a little bit of Irish too. I have 4 children, 3 girls ages 25, 22, 14, and one son 18. I live in the north GA Mountains on 5 acres with 6 horses, 5 dogs, and 3 cats. I'm an army brat and so is my hunny. I've been a nurse for 20 years and my speciality is Labor and delivery, high risk pregnancy. I'm a member of Clan Ross and Clan Donnachaidh. But I'm mainly active with Clan Donnachaidh. I and my youngest daughter do Scottish Country Dancing. I enjoy gardening, riding horses, cross stitching, and reading. I found out about CR from a Clan Ross newsletter and I've been hooked ever since. I don't have to buy so many CDs. This is a really great site and I've meet some very nice people.
Mark do you drive your family crazy listening to the pipes? I drive my family crazy.
