| Durdatha whye! Good day to you! Welcome to Cornwall, here in Celtic Radio. My name is Em and I will be your moderator for this forum. For those who are not familiar with Cornwall, it is the south-western most point of England. Vast tracts of Cornwall have undergone very little change down the ages. And their language, Cornish, is a Celtic language which is thousands of years old. Cornwall has always been rich in folklore, with giants and piskies, mermaids and saints throughout their culture. Cornwall's flag is the flag of St Piran, patron saint of miners, and is said to represent the triumph of good over evil. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to PM me. | Dear Cornwall, I just checked out Celtic Radio and came across your post. I strongly hope St. Piran is with our U.S. miners in the State of Utah who were recently trapped in the mine about 1500 feet under a mountain. It doesn't look like they will get out. Amen Brother, it couldn't have been said better. My candles are lit and prayers ascending. On the subject of Cornwall I am all ears. I remember my Gran's stories about the magical place. | Can't wait to read all the info from the home of my 3xgreat? grandma. Don't know what part she was from but hope to find that out someday. Upper Michigan has a large Cornish influence due to the mines especially in the pasty area. It's the main dish of Yoopers worldwide. Mmmm. Nummy! I know of a few Cornish internet sites in our area if you or anyone needs any info from the U.P. of MI |

| Man- Cletic Radio forums rock! getting to know more about various celtic cultures intrigues me to no end! I just wish I had more time to spend on the forums. The Cornish countryside sounds like a wonderful place as does the Language- what little I've seen posted here it looks to flow off the tongue. |
