Why Do People Hate Bagpipes?, my ringing tone..

Love the bagpipes and like you just don't understand why people hate it.
Either they're just saying it without even listening to the deep sound of it
or they just don't know real music. That's what I think.

That's possible, people just say thay hate something even before they have tried it.

I LOVE the bagpipes. If I didn't love the bagpipes...
I would have never joined a pipe band...........
I would never have met my husband...........
who was a snare drummer in that band........

Thank you Drothgord. I will add that we had a full Scottish wedding complete with pipe band, kilts, etc. The only down side, it would have been great to have actually gone to Scotland for the honeymoon, but you can't have everything.

Most of the general public have never been to the Games, therefore have never heard a Grade I gold medalist pipe his winning set (a sound that will stop a passerby in mid-step and mid-conversation, compelling them to awed silence). Their only exposure to bagpipes has been rank beginners braying out a sound somewhere between a cacophony of car horns and a drunken cow in labor, that piper in "I Married an Axe Murderer", or perhaps the guy who completely massacred "Amazing Grace" on national TV in a futile attempt to pipe Gerald Ford out.

It's hard to find people to do that here in Finland, we have tried to look for someone with my girlfriend, but with no luck so far.
Pipers are also very hard to find here. And you can't have scottish wedding without pipes.

How can they actually HATE something if they haven't even heared it well before.

About the pipers before the soldiers thing. I think so too, what would rise the spirits of soldiers more than hearing familiar sound of pipes on the battlefield. And the british must have thought something like "damn those crazy scots and their pipes, nothing will crush their spirit!".

Why do people hate bagpipes? Because most players look and sound like they are holding a cat under their arm and biting its tail....hard.

I too love the bagpipes, so much i know subject my family and my neighbors by playing them and love every minute. I have a new teacher Emmet and will now learn to play better. At least i hope too

Our family love the pipes. My daughter's wedding march was Scotland The Brave. I was so proud and happy to have her on my arm as we followed the piper down the asile playing Scotland The Brave. Wow! That moment in my life was as good as watching my other daughter give birth to her son. As the grandfather I watch the father cut the umbiical cord and I was the 3rd person to hold the new grandson. The Lord is Good.

My pipes CD and Celtic CDs are the oddities of my album collection cus most of the other albums are rock and blues, but I love them cus Irish ballads are great to mellow out to. It's very soothing.
