I was watching the news and was horrified to see that more than 30 students were killed at Virginia Tech this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends fo the victims. What a terrible tragedy.

Unbelievable tragedy. Much prayer for the families, students, and faculty.

Hi all,

My wife told me about this when she picked me up to go for lunch. Virginia Tech is where her brother went for his MSE in ChemEng and where my company's ex-VP went to school. I've been there to visit and can't believe this could happen - it's such a peaceful place, considering it has about 24,000 students!

I agree, prayers for families, students and faculty are the order of the day!

Best cheers! Robbie

Curious, anyone else in this community who actually attends VT, currently? This incident makes me rather glad I didn't get out the door early, 'cause by the time I was ready to go, campus was locked down and I just stayed at my apartment, else I'd have been one of those Students standing in McBryde (one of the photos floating around), waiting to be let out.

Hell of a day, just had to sit here and watch and listen, very frustrating.

CeltWolf, we are very glad that you are OK and were not on campus at the time. Our thoughts and prayers go to all those who are affected; the victims, their families, the witnesses who are traumatized and all others who may be suffering.

While there are many who are critisizing VT's administration, it is difficult to know what information they did and did not have. From the reports I've heard, they obviously thought the dorm shooting was a single incident and were not aware a shooter was still "at large" or much more aggresive action would have been taken.

Correct, that's what our emails said, and I really can't blame them for it, with what little I know. Thinking it was an isolated incident, I wasn't particularly concerned about it, and was hoping that the mess would clear up in time for me to go to class. Obviously, well, it didn't.

They just gave us the whole week off, which I find frustrating, given that what I really want to do right now is get back to classes so we can be doing something. Now, we just have to sit here and wait for info to trickle in. I guess I'll do what little homework I have left (only had a couple days' worth).

If there is anything for which I'd like to criticize the administration, it would be the weapons policy, but I will not go into that at this time (and I didn't like the weapons policy for all the four years I've been here before this).

i found out about this this morning, the news was comparing it to what happened here in montreal at dawson college not that long ago.....something like this shakes up whole communities as well as families and takes a long time to get over the trauma, if ever.

my heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones and my prayers go to the whole of the community.

My heart is so full. Full of sorrow. Full of fear for what is happening to our world.

Most days when I drop my kids off school, I tell them I love them, knowing it could be the last words I ever say to them. Just yesterday, as I looked at my daughter's sweet face, I knew the danger she would not survive her school day was real.

What is wrong with these people?

Satan is on a rampage.

My Prayers go out to the families, victims and survivors. So many senseless tragedies caused by thoughtless uncaring people.

And my thoughts and prayers go out to the parents and family of the shooter.

Can you imagine living with that horror?

QUOTE
Satan is on a rampage.

I think you hit it on the head. People seem to forget how powerful Satan is.

I know what you mean about his family. I think it would be so devistating to know that someone you love so much is capeable of something so terrible. I do pray that Cho's family will be able to heal and not be persecuted by our society.

I'm glad you are ok. Hang in there and try to keep busy as best you can. I heard about it soon after it hit national news about 12 yesterday. Mom Couture called to tell us. She heard it on the news and was worried about Julianna. Jim heard it too before we did and all we knew was it was a Virginia College. It was scary for a bit around here. Julianna is at SVU.
I finally got to talk to Julianna and she said they were doing ok. I'm not sure I would be. It may be down the road a ways but it's still too close. She is in a small school and they have plenty of help. I'm sure they are talking about it in many of their classes today.
If I was there I would not want to go in the building or classrooms where it happened for awhile. But I would want to get back to my classes and studies so there is something else to accuppy my mind and would aoid most of the news coming out. Maybe you could get together with some friends and start a new project of some sort that would left your spirits. Satan is strong and will pull you down but the Lord is stronger and can lift you up if you will call on Him.
You and everyone are in our thoughts and prayers. May you all keep Faith and stay strong.
