Thanks to Haynes9 for those Bands.
Yes , I forgot Altan !!
Just after I posted I found "Welder's Dog" a folky group form New England (Australia) and they are well worth listening to. Bought their CD

Something stirring about the Bagpipes aren't there. As a kid I went to the Maryborough Highland Thingy on New Years Day. 5 pm Mass Bands....Great !!
Take care .

Not sure on the protocol, but here goes.
Ballarat is in the middle of Winter, so is very cold. As distinct from Nth Hemisphere where Summer is blooming !!
Celtic Radio is part of my Journey into Celtic Music, which started off as an interest in Irish Music (hasn't everyone thought the Dubliners & Chieftains were the only Irish Groups going !!)
Was "dragged" into the Podcasts from Marc Gunn ( originally thought I was being a heretic getting Irish Music from USA, but I think his enthusiasm has converted me)

Have now recognised that Celtic Music is a pretty broad Church and have found interests at Copperplate , Raymond Mc Cullough and Folk Radio plus probably my favourites are Fiona Ritchie in Thistle & Shamrock and Pure Brilliant (from Canada) so the Internet has given me new interests.

In Australia we have a Mick Thomas who is an "Irish " Type folkie. Listen to his songs and you will get what I mean. Particularly " The Cap my Grandfather wore". Another new artist is a Jess Chalker . Sings sometimes with Lior. Good SOund (coming from a person who does not have a musical bone in my body (envy those people) BOth of them are on Youtube.
