Technology is changing once again in the streaming internet arena and unless Celtic Radio makes some changes, our channels could eventually be obsolete.
It's OK - we have been through this before and we are currently testing some new technology that we will transition our channels to over the coming months.
No worries though, as long as you use our website and App there should be little interruption to your listening. With the exception being our Celtic Christmas broadcast.
Right now Celtic Christmas is down and we are working on bringing it back using this new technology. It is just going to take us a little bit of time to learn. Luckily we have until about June or July for our other channels. Basically, Google Chrome will no longer support our format at that time, so we hope to be setup with the new technology by that time.
Thanks for your continued support of our site which makes these changes possible so we can keep up with the technology. It is much appreciated!
If anyone wants to give it a try and just confirm you can hear the music, that would be great as we begin to transition all of our channels over to this new format.
As previously stated, this year most browsers and apps will drop support for http streams, so it is important that we upgrade all of our streams to https.

Tested it and it sounded great to me! No problems at all. Seamless.

The channel now has the ability to stream in two different rates, HD or CD. Eventually this feature will be good for people on phones that can not stream at a full HD rate (128kps). The CD rate is half of that or 64kps, but still sounds pretty good.
Tomorrow we should restore listening to our Celtic Christmas broadcast on the website and app which this technology is backwards compatible.
We will be featuring some of the cool things this technology brings to our streaming pages on a brand new micro website. More details on that soon!
Update on our broadcast channel technology. We are updating all of our channels over the next 2 days. Unfortunately this means the addresses for each channel will be changing.
No worries though, just make sure you access the channel through our App, Desktop or mobile website.
