Spending the weekend near Traverse City Michigan. Beautiful area!!!

Came up last night in the rain. Woke this morning to a temp in the high 30's and very overcast.

Put the soft top on the Jeep in anticipation of warmer temps to come. This afternoon the temp climbed to the mid 40's so I put the kayak in the river and went for a paddle. Checked on a Geocache I have hidden along the river then I started exploring the backwaters along the river. Kayaked with swans, geese, ducks of all sorts, but my favorite companions were a pair of beavers. An adult and a young one swam around my kayak for a while while I sat silently and watched. Spring is in the air!!

It's been cold & rainy here in Chicago all weekend. The White Sox-Blue Jays game was rained out last night, so they are trying to cram in a doubleheader today. The Sox won the first game 4-3, but are losing now in the nightcap, 7-5.

We are having a bloody heat wave. Where's our spring? Our lovely Southern California spring with fog every morning, and temps that get into the high 70's? Instead we've got temps in the 100's (Fahrenheit for all these temps, folks. Sorry) like it's already July!

No global warming, eh, Bush?

--------------------
Where now the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?
Where is the helm and the hauberk, and the bright hair flowing?
Where is the hand on the harpstring, and the red fire glowing?
Where is the spring and the harvest and the tall corn growing?
They have passed like rain on the mountain, like a wind in the meadow
The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow
Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning
Or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

Sun is shining up here temps should get into the 60's today. Snow's just about all gone got a few hills where they plowed during the winter. Won't be long and the trees will be green. Can't wait for that to happen. Here in Fairbanks Ak we don't call it Spring it's Break up. Can be ugly and dirty. Nice when it happens though. We know summer is on it's way.

Lived in Fairbanks for 3 years. Breakup sucks! Too much mud! About the only thing entertaining about it is the Chena tripod pool. For those who don't know what that is, in Chena, Alaska, they put a tripod on the Chena River when it freezes. They have a huge pool for the date and time the tripod will tip over. I can't remember how much it's worth, but it's substantial.

Blazing hot here today. We'll be close to 100 degrees again today and only 4 miles from the beach. The temperature and the fact that there are brush fires around us again makes for a lovely day. The house smells like a campfire. disgust.gif

Really hot, sunny, clouds up floating in the sky. Yesterday it rained in the afternoon. First real rain we have had since December, still no rain in La Arena where I work though.
