I think that some things should be changed, no matter what, and I’m only glad that my Dad isn’t alive to have heard this news. And I say good riddance’s to you, for I would have been proud, to have stood in the ranks, of the Black Watch.

are you scottish john clements ?, and why would you want to fight for the black watch

it says on your profile that you are in america, so assuming that you are american and not scottish why would you fight for the black watch ?,
have a horrendous two faced history, from slaughtering and oppresing highland jacobites to the atrocities they comitted in ireland throught the 20th century.

but you wouldnt know the kinship or culture of the black watch being american would you

A very SAD day!

Being an American I can tell you these regiments had a very large hand in shaping our history on this side of the pond!

We the colonists ( now citizens ) of this now great country, fought hard and long both with and against these soldiers of the crown and over came them to become our own nation...

To not morn the bravery, fortitude, and commitment of these regiments would be a slap in the face to all that served in the "French and Indian" as well as the Revoluntionary Wars here on the left side of the pond.


These were great soldiers and to see them diminished into obscurity makes me sad.

Shadows and I don't always agree (some might say we never agree on anything, probably because we're both descended from stubborn Scots! ) but on this point I'm in 100% agreement with him!

What makes it worse MacE is we both er of the same clan...

Teashoci, yes I may have been born in America, but both my Mother and Farther were born in Scotland, and the way I see it, that makes me as Scots as I want to be.

As to the history of the Black Watch, although I may not know as much as you, what I do know is, that in recent history, the Black Watch are about as distinguished a regiment, as you can get.

Maybe you can direct me to some reading material that could change my opinion, and maybe you can tell my why, the hair on the back of my neck stands up, when I hear a piper blowing amazing Grace?

The black watch are a horrible institute that panders to the ideology of the oppressive english crown,none of these so called scots fight for themselvs they only fight for their english masters,in particuler serving in n.ireland to crush and kill irish republicans and civilians.

I myself am a scottish republican who belives in an irish , scottish and welsh republic.

I do not consider myself anti english,I do however despise the british crown like many other scots ,welsh ,irish and even some english.
That is why i would never dream of throwing away or re writing my history to join the black watch and fight for an english queen and country.

The black watch does not represent scottish culture it represents oppression.

I am not writing this statement to offend anyone,But i have a write to divulge my views on the black watch when yu are talking about them.

easter rising in ireland (where the black watch played a cowardly part in)
ireland and n.ireland -a tragic shame
The jacobite rebellion ( where the black watch fought for the english ad slaughtered their own countrymen)

i am glad you have the mind to have formed the opinions you have but have you ever thought where the freedom to think and develop those ideas came from? Dare i mention the bravery of the scots regiments in two world wars but please remember without those brave lads you would have been in a state where freedom of speech and thought was quickly disposed of. Pretty much the way blair and his cronies would like us to go. So please continue to use ur mind but in developing your thoughts and ideas take a view of the wider picture
