The Brest European Short Film Festival will be celebrating its 20th birthday from the 5th - 13th November 2005.

Since its creation, the Brest European Short Film Festival's vocation has been to reveal the talent of future European fiction filmmakers.

Today the Brest Festival screens around 200 short films during a nine-day event, which is divided into 30 different programmes (approximately 100 screenings), which include in particular:

- the European Competition
(9 programmes of short fiction films*).

- the Cocotte-Minute Competition
(1 or 2 programmes of short films* lasting no longer than 6 minutes each).

- the Brest Off Programme
(4 theme-based programmes of European and French shorts*).

And also
- the Young Public screenings
(3 to 4 international programmes of short films suitable from age 3 years and upwards)
- the "Europe en Courts" programmes
(3 programmes from the European Film Festival Coordination)
- the "Music Videos" screenings
(music videos from 1985-6)
- the Panorama Bretagne
- New Turkish Cinema
