Hello, Ciamar a tha thu. I’m excited about the level of activity in this forum. My name is Ross. I live in Connecticut, USA. I’m a bit into heritage… my mother was Irish and my father was Scotch/Irish (with rumors of random English). I play Scottish/Irish mandolin at pub sessions and read a lot of history (fiction & non-fiction). I’m an on/off student of Gaelic (when the classes are available). I’m starting up again beginning the end of September. I’ve studied the fine and structural metal works of the Celtic culture(s) and work at reproducing those when time allows… silver, brass, copper & iron. I also play at doing pattern engravings and etchings.
Welcome to Celtic Radio Ross. I hope you will enjoy the music as well as the nice people that you will find here on the forums. There's lots of information here on the celtic culture. I look forward to you posting. Enjoy!
Hello and welcome Ross. I am also new but I have already found this forum to be one of the friendliest forums I've ever seen. I hope you also find this to be true and enjoy your time at Celtic Radio.

Welcome! Apart from the wonderful music and great people, you'll also find a forum here with some good and patient scots gaelic speakers, who will be happy to hear from you and will also be a lot of help and encouragement. Enjoy!
Tapadh leat and thanks for the many welcomes and comments.
As for pictures of my work, I’m just finishing up an iron gate… won’t say how long ago I started it. The weather has been a bit too hot to want to spend much time in front of a forge and anvil. Not much stays around my shop once it’s finished. They say you should never display unfinished work, but I ken you’re an understanding bunch, so I’ll put a couple pics up in a day or two.
I am Camac from the Golden Horseshoe Of Ontario. I have used that term many times and I guess I should explain it to our US Cousins . It is the very Western end of Lake Ontario running from Niagara-on-the-Lake at the mouth of the Niagara River all the way around to Toronto. Best part of the Province and dare I say the Country.
WELCOME ROSS!!!! It is a pleasure to meet you. You have found the greatest music and the greatest people. Enjoy.

Well, I’ve taken everyone’s advice and listened to some really great music. Some of that music has moved me to be up until the wee hours working out new pieces on mandolin. Yesterday I bought a couple of CD’s by artists that, two days previous, I didn’t know existed. This is good stuff!
Thanks once again for the welcome(s). Now I need to refill my glass with St. James’s Gate and start digging back through a few choice threads.
Oh… Mitzie, I agree. Diana Gabaldon tells a great tale. I’ve read all the Fraser books to date. I was bored last winter and my sister-in-law left Dragonfly in Amber lying around. I picked it up… hooked! I had just finished Princes or Ireland/Rebels of Ireland and was ready for bit more whimsy.
