Okay so I had fun last night at the concert and I want you all to have a chance to see them too. They're touring the midwest for much of March and in April move over to the Eastern US.
They'll be hitting Kansas City-MO, St. Louis-MO, Columbus-OH, Indianapolis-IN, Harrisburg-PA, Portsmouth-NH and Boston-MA among other stops....
Even if it's a two hour drive or more to these places...it's well worth the trip to see these guys perform in person.

Senara-ism : Life is like a theatrical production only you get to be actor, director, and audience all at once. So break a leg, sit back and enjoy the show!

Just saw them in St. Paul last night. Great show and very well done. It was a smaller college theatre so the band could joke around a bit. They even gave Rick Springfield's "Jessie Girl" song a bit of a tryout. They sang most of the favorites and a few new one I didn't reconize so they may be working on new material already. The only two songs they left out that alot of people noticed were General taylor and Gideons boat. Wish I would have brought a camera but mine seems to have gone missing along with a bottle of baileys from my house while we were gone one time. Kids! Should have bought the dogs first.
We also went past O'Gara Irish bar which is were Charles Schulz (Peanuts) grew up and which is also near our old neighborhood. The place was packed and the line was around the corner. Mall of America didn't have anything going on and I waw a bit disappointed there. Just some cooking contest in the rotunda but there were a few kilts here and there.

Glad to hear you both had a great time at the shows. I think the new music is working well for them and they're getting a lot of great feedback about it. I still get a grin on my face when I think about that show. It was a great time and just so much fun that I wish I could do it over and over again.
Lucky Ducks!!! I am so green with envy!!! On their my space page they have added new pictures it looks nice. Some day will come this way....may be...lol I would sure like to see them.
As for a fav GBS song-I would have to agree with Senara, there ar just way too many. I would have to say my top five are Lukey (the Chieftans version), the Old Polina, Harbour Lecou, Excursion around the Bay. and the Scolding Wife.
All right I'm going! I am new to the Celtic music scene and the name of Great Big Sea kept coming up when I was researching Celtic music. I started listening to them about a month ago and I was hooked. They're sound is unique and sounds very energetic.
They are coming to my area (Boston) the 24th and after reading your posts I went and purchased 6 tickets. I'm taking my wife and some friends. My wife's going because.... well she's my wife. My friends are going for a night out.
I think their music will be pleasing to anyone and from what I've read it's such a fun experience as well. Even though they are not GBS fans (yet) it will be fun to share their music.
Now what can I expect from those of you who have seen them?? Anything special I should know?? What kind of crowd, young, old, mix?? Just enjoy the ride??
Update: Went to the show Friday night. It was AWESOME!!! These guys are great. They were even better than I expected. Great crowd and boy do they have a tremendous following, eveyone was really into it. They played for 2 1/2 amazing hours. Loved every minute of it.
The 5 other people I brought with me are fans now too! My brother, who never heard of GBS, said it was a "10" performance! He'd said he's go see them again in a heartbeat.
Well, next weekend they are playing up in Maine and New Hampshire. Discussions have started on...... a road trip!
