QUOTE (Shadows @ 23-Jul-2004, 05:36 PM)
I still say use great caution when encouraging bats to roost near your home... I endured the shots I spoke of just because these creatures made my home theirs also!

Today on the news there were a mother cat and her kittens put down because they bit a child... they were rabid ( and family pets ) and now that child and her family must undergo the "treatment". Just use caution is all I ask.

O'siyo,
Well, Well, Shadows...always have the most happy and pleasant news don't you? ~grin~ Wow, must say the part about the Mama cat & her babies, well, I am the biggest animal lover I know and that just brought tears to my eyes cry.gif
I guess there was no other choice in the matter~~ down.gif
Ni Ya We for the tips on the mothballs..I have covered my entire attic and you failed to mention the wonderful 'aroma' of these mothballs sly.gif smile.gif
I wouldn't want to endure the shots that you spoke of either or the treatments that I have been reading on the websites that barddas has provided! Ouch!

Today I had a long black snake that thought he was going to get my wee baby birds in the bird house. I know snakes have to eat too, but I didn't want him to take up residence in my flower garden since I have hummingbird feeders and bird houses set up for the birds. I finally talked my hubby into giving him the axe. Off with his head! Usually we don't kill black snakes , when one comes into the yard we usually let him/her slither back into the woods, this one had to go, I don't like nothing messing with my birds.

Here's a plant you DON'T want in your garden. Some States are fining people big time, if they are found growing it.

O'siyo,
~As Fall approaches I am seeing less and less of the butterfly's, hummingbirds, honey bees and various other 'bugs' sad.gif
~I am being blessed with 'my' family of Cardinals that hang around when Fall is here~ They know when the first feeding is~ My rule of thumb for feeding the birds is the day after the first eve you 'can see your breath outside'~ To me that is a sure sign that it is getting cooler and time to begin feeding my feathered O'ginalli's (friends)~
~I miss the lively and colorful bunch of wildlife/plantlife that disappears with the Spring/Summer but, like everything on Mother Earth, time to rest and rejuvenate~ sleep.gif

Just this morning, there was a Deer Family in the yard..
Mom, dad, the kids...
Bold as brass.. opend the double doors to the Patio..
let both dogs out..
They never moved.. just watched..
Magnificent to see ..

O'siyo,
~ Well I discovered a 'new' family in one of my garden patches tongue.gif I have a grassgrain tote that I use when collecting my veggies in the garden and I had it hanging over the fence~ The wind must have blown it down into the garden~ I went out there to pick it up and there bright-eyed were a family of mice unsure.gif I honestly don't have anything personally against rodents, I just don't really want them hanging out around my home~ sad.gif I saw one adult and I believe 4 smaller ones..I left the bag there and guess will continue to allow that to be home~ laugh.gif Maybe they'll 'move out' before the first snow~

Loons used to visit our "Rock Garden" and sun bath there. It was right off a lake were we lived... 5 years ago now?

We would wake up to there beatiful cries.
