South Side Irish Parade Family Fest

A new event taking place on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Beverly Arts Center in Chicago, Illinois, is to be the marquis event in a ten day celebration of St. Patrick's Day. This event is replacing the South Side Irish Parade which was apparently marred by unruly crowds in 2009.

Thank you Mike F. (MDF3530) for supplying this information to us.
QUOTE
You can add the Chicago South Side Irish Parade to the list of cancelled festivals.

It was cancelled after last year's parade due to unruly crowds coming in from the suburbs, ruining it for the rest.

It is being replaced by a weeklong series of events.

Dixon Scottish Games and Gathering

More often than not, festivals that go on hiatus, do not return but fortunately some do come back. There is still some time before the resurrection of this festival but it has been announced that after being shelved in 2007, the Dixon Scottish Games and Gathering will be held on September 24, 2011 in Dixon, CA.

In Kentucky, there is the Kentucky Scottish Weekend in Carrollton on May 7-8
In Tennessee, the Gatlinburg Scottish Festival takes place May 14-16

I maintain a large list of festivals on my website if you want to find festivals around the world. Festivals are listed by date as well as geographic area. I have been building and maintaining this list for over 12 years now. http://www.kelticnations.com

I noticed from your profile that you are in Henderson, Kentucky. I held a contest, ending in the fall, where individuals could vote for their favourite pipe band. The prize was two rings for the most popular pipe band to be used to raise funds for their pipe band. The winner was from your neck of the woods in Evansville, IN. The Evansville Firefighters Pipe and Drum Corps received over 500 votes. They just recently held a draw for the rings at a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser.
