A Shule Egan! Very interesting story about your grandparents. I am working on my family tree also. Got as far back as 1700 with my grandmother and hit a brick wall! At 1800 with my grandfather and hit another brick wall. Not sure what to do now. Did you use the websites to do your tree or did you buy one of those family tree software packages?

Maggie! Like the new avatar! She looks like a little Irish girl! wink.gif smile.gif

ASE, I like that =) I will get all the old photos from my Grandma's, we have alot of Sepia photographs, especially from my mothers family. One of her Ggrandfathers brought home a girl from Sicily and she was so beautiful.. She had really beautiful black hair and brown eyes, they said.
I think I would like to walk around in the 19th century for one day or so, seeing how so many things around me developed...

Fortunately, we have a lot of old letters and pictures but I still needed to hit many web pages and piece a lot of the puzzle together. Didn't hurt, that I was able to track down some of my relatives in Shrule, after 27 years of searching for them. They helped with a lot of the missing pieces. Still missing a great deal of info but we have 9 generations and have I received many compliments from others on some of the genealogy pages of how much I have together. We only go back as far as 1793. Haven't found anything before that.

Keep looking on every web page you can find and leave as much info as you can on the genealogy pages. You just never know who may have some info that can help you out.

Hope Paul starts up the genealogy page soon. That should be fun for everyone.

I could put up my genealogical tablet up to 1483 (a lot of work to type, hehe) but only from my mothers side... =/

I know for certain that within that time there is alot of different Europeans, North Africans and even a Japanese is found. But that's basically it. My family's history is quite an interesting one, being seafarers through out (okay, a few black sheep were allowed wink.gif ).

Aon, it's worth the effort to get one of the genealogy programs and get it all organized. It will fry your brain at first gathering it all together but when it starts to take shape, you really start getting excited about it.

Just go for it!!!!!!!!

Holy cow! Anon! You have been able to go that far back?????? Plus, look at all what you found? How exciting!

ASE, what genealogy program do you recommend that I buy? Someone told me Family Tree was good, but I don't know if that will work with Windows XP.

CelticRose, Family Tree maker is a very good software program for geneology study...it's also user friendly...you can also sign up for updates to the program. My husband and I have used it for both of our family research . I have it on my lap top that I take to the library and I have XP also. You'll really like the program.

My cousin started all of this on Family Tree Maker a few years ago. Unfortunately, she passed away a few months ago at age 48 from smoking. I was given the program and took over adding things to it. I still haven't figured out how to do everything on the program but it sure makes things easy. Guess I should really sit down and read the instructions and use it properly.

I'm still a novice with computers but I haven't had any problem figuring out what needed to be done on Family Tree Maker. Very user friendly.

BTW, my cousin had XP on her computer, so I know Family Tree Maker works with it.

I'm sorry about your cousin! Way too young to be leaving us for the ultimate reward. I have found it fun to print out my Family Tree using that software. It displays it well.

Gosh I hope I don't have the same avatar than someone else. I love mine, it really show how much I love the scene. It is everything I dream of me being.

Check Celeste Ahilissaa May, she used that one or something like it. I'm not sure so you'll have to look her up on a post.
Good luck. We are glad you are here.
