We wear the Henderson Ancient tartan- mainly because it was all that Sport Kilt offers in the Henderson tartan varieties-

I like the great kilt or Feileadh Mohr and my son likes his small kilt or modern kilt the best. I'd really love to be able to round out my kilt collection with all of the different Henderson Tartans, but, tartan fabric is so expensive.

I have a cheapo Blackwatch kilt I like to wrap on after a shower or to run up into the hills and hike in. Stillwater Kilts have a line for $38, although the tartan selection is very limited.

I wear the Georgia tartan, the McLennan with my band and Legion color guard, a saffron kilt, an Irish National, and perhaps once a year or so a great kilt in a free sett.

Does Sport kilt carry a great kilt anymore. I have the McDonald "the works" kilt from thembut I didn't see a spot for a great kilt anywhere. Otherwise I would have ordered that. Very nice kilts although I wish I could get the patch off. Just got a request form my wife's work place to wear it there next time I drop her off. I don't mind but she works in a nursing home and now I'm really beginning to wonder what going on!

You might try The Frugal Corner; they sell McDonald by the yard in an inexpensive polyviscose or acrylic.

Sportkilt will sell 60" wide PV tartan by the yard but you have to contact Seamus about it. Just call and ask to speak with someone about ordering yardage to make a great kilt with. We paid $20 a yard for ours- not too bad a price.

I wear McAlpine Ancient, as per my avatar. 6 years ago it was £330 and my plaid was an additional £210, the matching hose were £100 ..... so, that's over $1000 to be only half dressed. cool.gif

I was looking to buy a pair of trews but I can only find them in wool and the cost is £180 +

It's an expensive business this retro clothing laugh.gif

himself;

I wear the MacArthur Tartan ( I can also wear the Campbell of Argyll) which I bought in Troon 45 years ago for $150.00Cdn. When I was back last October I priced a new kilt in Pitlochry, my old one is a bit to small for me now, and they wanted 385 pounds or roughly $845.00 Cdn. I bought two ties instead one MacArthur, and the other the Ancient Campbell. As I told my cousin Alister "I'm no the bluidy Laird. Read my last posting under Thr Red Lion and let me know if its a good idea.

Well, I can now say I own more kilts than pants. My main one is my McDonald tartan which comes about because of my Kelly ancestors. I'm still hoping to get my Italian National and my Cornish ones. And maybe the Outlander tartan in a Great kilt when they drop down in price
