| Interested in reading your stories of your ancestors' migrations from as far back as you can go to where they are now. There are several cousins and myself working on our family tree on both sides of our grandparents' ancestors. As of yesterday I learned that it is confirmed that my mother's ancestors settled in Scotland, Ireland and England, then came over to America. There were also Irish and Welsh. The ones that came over to the states, they started in Pennsylvania and migrated to North Carolina and Georgia to where most of them are now. Some of my ancesters joined the Mormon faith and relocated to Utah to where some of them live now as well. |

| My greatgrandparents and grandparents came over from Finland to Michigan at the turn of the century. The route was by steamship from Hanko Finland to Hull England, by rail from Hull to Liverpool England and then by steamship to Boston MA or New York NY, then by rail to Michigan. The Finnish Steamship Company sold the emigrants a single ticket that was good from Hanko to the destination in Michigan. The cost of the tickets were ten to thirty five dollars, depending on how many and how old the passengers were. This seems like a small amount, but it was a small fortune in those days. Often, the first immigrants sent money back to pay the passage for later family members. From northern Michigan, various grandaunts and uncles moved to Wisconsin, California and Oregon. One granduncle was a minister and served in a mission church in Astoria Oregon. |

| The Clarks left Glasgow in 1905, and settled in Manchester, New Hampshire. Eventually, they purchased a piece of property in a little place called Mount Vernon, on top of a hill. The first structure built was the barn, where everybody lived during construction of the house. It was painted bright yellow, and named "The Lemon Drop." Both my grandfather and grandmother were teachers in the area for many years. There is a bird sanctuary named for my grandmother at one if the local schools. |
