Hello to all,
I am gearing myself up to the task of trying to locate family. I am a Canadian born of Irish descent. My mother was Eileen Norma O'Connor. I've NO idea of where in Ireland her folks came from before they settled in Ontario, Canada. Most all of the family is dead or long ago scattered with no threads to tug at to bring them close to me.

Does anyone know the best way for me to attempt to locate those to whom I may/am related? I'm especially interested in those living in Ireland at this time.

I appreciate any assistance or ideas.
Respectfully,
Robyn (Roberta) Coe (kept my married name)

Go to your search engine and type in "Clan O'Connor" and multiple geneology pages should come up. It's time consuming....but you may find some leads that way. Also, try Familytreemaker.com may find someones family tree listed that has links to you.
If you find out the town your family is from, punch up the town on your search. The town may have a web page that has links to the town geneology.
Keep plugging away, we did and we now go back 9 generations. It's a lot of work but it's worth it when you find a new bit of family history.

Here is a good site to go to to find out where the O"Connor's lived around 1850 in the counties of Ireland. Just click on Irish Ancestors and type your name in the surname search.

Just a follow-up.

Be prepared to run into a lot of roadblocks. During some of the uprisings, some of the public records were burned and lost forever.
