Does anyone have a good recipe for Corned Beef and Cabbage? I've been trying to find one that's traditional, and I can't seem to match what I've had in the local pubs. If you have one that you've actually made or tried and liked, please pass it on. I've been craving it lately, but don't want a miserable failure like I had one time. lol. Thanks in advance!

not sure it is what you are looking for but it looks mighty tasty!

I am still searching for the one I use... it is lost in the kitchen drawer somewhere.

the guys in my firehouse like this one
in a very large pot (I use the one that you fry turkey's in) bring water to a boil then cut down heat1/2 way place in the meat and add 2 bottles Guinnes Stout 2 cloves garlic cover until it reboils . Turn heat down to a simmer and let cook all day untill fork can go through meat .Peel 1 large cabbage outer leaves only and discard ,next cut cabage into 1/4s and place in pot with meat add 2 onions, This will make the cabbage not to soggy let simmer to the point where the cabbage is soft but dosn't fall apart. Scoop out cabbage, onion, into serving dish cover. Take out the meat and let it rest about 5 mins or it will fall apart when slicing . IT will melt in your mouth and won't be salty for the beer pulls the salt out and adds an earthy flavor. beer_mug.gif thumbs_up.gif wink.gif good eating
