Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there was any Wiccans or Pagans out there? I have seen some people talking about how they study Wiccan but there aren't that many posts under The Grove.
I myself am Wiccan and have been practising for about 4 1/2 yrs now. I am a solitary witch and at times it gets a bit lonely to practice by myself. My best friend is also a wiccan but she doesn't do her studies or is into it at deeply as I am. I have at times thought about joining a coven but I like the freedom to do what I want. Are there anybody out there that is in a coven?

White Goddess,
Yes, I am also Wiccan, I am in a coven although we call ourselves a temple. I am actually taking classes and will be Dedicated this Saturday. I am planning on continuing my studies so that I will be a full Reverend. I have been very excited about this since I started classes. If you want to know more I will answer any questions you have.

Merry Meet VetteGal,
It's nice to talk to another fellow wiccan. How long have you been studying in your temple. I really don't know much about covens since my mentor and I use to practice alone together but she's moved away and we don't talk anymore for so for about the past couple of years I have been flying solo. I really don't mind but when I find new info or buy a new book or even find a new web site I really don't have anyone to share it with. My best friend like I said practices but doesn't do any studies and barely rarely ever does any spells which if fine it's her choice but it's nice to talk to other people who are wiccan as well. Here where I live we have 4 different new age shops that I love going into. I feel so comfortable going there and the owner is really nice, she's a High Priestess I think...I know that she is a clergy for sure. So tell me more about what your studying and the different levels you have within your temple.
Merry Part till next time!

I was a pagan, but not anymore. I discovered that only the love of the Lord Jesus Christ can lead to light and eternal life.

He only has the future in His hands.

White Goddess,
There are two levels to our studies, right now I am working on level 1. Level two will make you Clergy, and with it the legal ability to perform handfastings, wiccannings, and lead rituals. Our temple is Qabalistically based. Right now we are learning about the tree of life and the rituals that work with it. It is very interesting, but somewhat confusing. I am still having problems with my meditating in that I cannot stay focused, I have always had problems with that though. rolleyes.gif And to you Tassie, you didn't like it when someone came into Kirk and Chapel and was explaining things through their view, so just because you changed to be a Christian doesn't mean you can come into the grove and disrupt it. I was brought up Lutheran, so I do know the Christian side of things. I don't like alot about organised religions. So please do your preaching to the other sheep. In other words, I have a brain, I don't need to be told how to run my life by people that really need to look at their own lives. Sorry, White Goddess for that bit of a rant but, it needed to be said.

I happy for non christians to come in as long as they are prepared to be challenged with truth.

"Having a brain" means just that doesn't it? - being open to being challenged in a search for truth.

Those that know the true God are not threatened by alternative views.
sorry, I didn't know there was a 'membership badge' I had to wear here, is it not an open forum?

Ladies and Gentlemen as moderator of this forum I say tolerence by all for all should be exercised. Some of us post in the christian forums and some christians post here... I have seen nowhere that either forum is closed to outsiders! Let us treat each other with respect. If you have a concern with any posts here in the "Grove" please contact me with it. I want this place to be open to all opinions, and I would like all to think of how they are saying things before they say them when things start to get heated.

Every Member of Celtic Radio is welcome to post in the "Grove" their opinions and thoughts, but let us all keep it to that and leave the converting to the streets where it belongs.

Now let us get back to the original question.

Don't worry about it VetteGal, I know how you feel as I do as well. So what different things do you study in your level 1. When I first studying I as well had a problem trying to mediate and sometimes still do depending on where I am and what's going on. If I'm in the house I like to play some soothing music to help me get into deep mediation. I love listening to Enya, I have a certain CD that I play that helps me into mediation pretty deep. If I choose to mediate outdoors I go to my favorite spot in the city. I live to go to the river that runs through my town and sit on the bank and just listen to the water rushing and it helps as well. If you need further help I have notes on different mediations that you could use. I've used a couple myself but more or less have collected them for when the time is right for me to pass on my studies and teachings to someone else. I don't feel that I will help anyone new but in the future I do foresee it!

To meditate one must clear the everyday clutter from their mind. Everyone has a method that they swear by... but not every one method works for others.

Consider what relaxes you the most, then use that for the jump off point for your meditations. Once you can master that it all becomes easy.

Posted by: White Goddess 20-Jan-2005, 10:08 PM
I totally agree with you Shadows! It took me a quiet awhile for me to get use to clearing my mind so I was able to mediate and once when I started doing that I found it way easier to mediate!

Posted by: Shadows 20-Jan-2005, 10:13 PM
OOps Sorry all that other BS got in the way of my answer to the original question:

I am a solo practicioner of Shamanism, both Native American and Eastern Rite.

Posted by: White Goddess 20-Jan-2005, 10:14 PM
What do you do with practising Native American??

Posted by: Shadows 20-Jan-2005, 10:23 PM
If you mean what things do I do....

I use the herbs and plants that the creator gave us to help the sick, to empower others to see their path, and walk amoung the worlds to help spread the wisdom of the ages.

I see people as they are and things that others don't see .

These are gifts that are not easily learned but bestowed on one by fate and awakened by ones mentor.

Posted by: White Goddess 20-Jan-2005, 10:27 PM
That's cool! I have always felt that my calling is to help people who are sick but I've been so rapped up in my studies that I haven't been able to branch into that yet! wink.gif

I was trained a Gardnerian. Got the scars...err...degrees to prove it. biggrin.gif

Belonging to a coven is purely a matter of personal taste and choice. Some people thrive in that kind of a group, but I've found that the group has to "gel" in order for any kind of smooth workings to really come out. Otherwise it tends towards grandstanding, drama, and/or the whole thing just falls apart in time. Being a serial coven member or founder isn't fun.

I had one for years. And yes, I was the high priestess. When the group started to wander off due to mundane things, I just let it go, and never actively sought new members. I figured if they were meant to come, they would. Currently I just practice with another couple, and we observe the high holidays together. When someone comes around who needs taught, I teach till they wander away to "the next thing", or they find their own path.

If you're looking for those of a like mind, they're out there. It just takes some looking, or letting yourself "be seen". They'll wander in when it's time. smile.gif

Posted by: Shadows 20-Jan-2005, 10:36 PM
You will find there are occasions that bring likeminded folk together, you just have to be aware of all the sign... if you exchange eye contact with someone do you go start a conversation... or do you just walk away?

Every person you come in contact with has a message for you, it is the ability to see that there is something for you to learn and something for you to share. There is no such thing as coincedence.... there is meaning to it all!

Hello,

I follow the Wicca spiritual path. I belong to a group that studies Pagan, Wicca general metaphysical concepts. I also go to a church called the Goddess Temple (located in Southern California) that practices Wicca type sprituality. It is the first Temple in America outside of one near London that practices Wiccan type spriituality and honors the sacred feminine. They see that the devine has both feminine and masculine aspects, but give special attention to the feminine since our world is out of balance due to humanity neglecting honoring our faminine aspects. It is a beautiful place and the people are wonderful.[/SIZE]

I'm certainly one of those who do not speak up here often. One reason might probably be that I have had problems with giving names to things or with finding appropriate labels all my life. So I learnt to get rid of the feeling that I HAVE to give a name to everything and learnt to meditate and listen inside.
It took me such a long time to get to this change in my life; so I'm quite new to my path which is, to say it in general, Native American Spirituality. I've found me home there but I still have to learn a lot.
I read through the thread and it is good to know we are more than one would have expected; I often miss the exchange with others.

Hello Everyone, you can add me to your list as well. smile.gif
I have been studying the pagan/wiccan path for a few years now, though I haven't gotten to concentrate on it as deeply as I would like with my classes being as intense as they are (hopefully I will be graduating within the next 2 years!). Though I've gotten the chance to take a few anthropology classes that focus on paganism and that helps keep me on track, as well as my hundreds of books at home I've yet to read! I too was brought up a Lutheran-forced into it my whole life even though I can remember dreading having to go even as a small child...I always wanted to run away from sunday school and play in the grove and watch the animals instead (sometimes I did! biggrin.gif )...I always had the calling. wink.gif I haven't found a specific path yet though I've focused myself towards shamanism, totem animals/familiars and 'green witch' subjects. I look forward to reading and sharing our experiences of our paths!
Blessed Be!

I'm so glad I ventured around a bit more today & found this! I've been on my path for 37 yrs now & have always honored Mother Earth in my ways. I come from a long line of curanderas in the old country (on my paternal side) & have been healing the family critters as long as I can remember. I've never joined any temple, coven, or the like but travel my path as revealed to me. I was fortunate enough to have worked for a NA art museum for many years & was involved with Windstar, which opened many other doors to Earth-based spirituality. I was raised Roman Catholic & respect all who strive to bring out the goodness in people. I practice herbalism, am wiccan (although I do not necessarily consider myself a witch), solitary, love history, learning of world cultures, & respect honesty. I also have inherited a profound ability to see... something I am truly grateful to my ancestors for.

Thank you so much for having this board. I look forward to learning more about all here.

Welcome CoyoteMoon!
I think you will find us in this forum amiable to solitares, witches, and what ever form of belief you have.
The Grove has been slow lately, but I am brain storming on ways to get it moving again. Any ideas any of you have please feel free to try.

Thank you, Shadows, for the warm welcome. I've been a bit remiss re: checking as we had a small celebration for my son's birthday (26). I was also tuned into the Pope's health as my mother was quite devout & loved him very much. I find it refreshing how so many of different faiths are celebrating his life, which could be an interesting topic from a Pagan perspective. I think my favorite site was seeing him kneel to kiss the Earth! It always served to remind me of the commonalities we all share.

Thank you again. I look forward to many interesting discussions!

All who serve good should celebrate the life of this Pope. He served as his faith and conscience dictated and truely worked for the betterment of the human race and peace between all people. That our paths aren't his should make no difference. There is a need for all of good faith to unite rather than shun each other over minor differences. Each in their own way have something to contribute to promoting love, kindness and caring for the world. John Paul can go to his God having done the best he could do and having accomplished much.

Posted by: CoyoteMoon 05-Apr-2005, 09:56 AM
I agree wholeheartedly, bubba! There are a number of groups to which I belong that seem to be deliberately skirting the issue, completely ignoring the fact that he managed to put aside longstanding differences between many of the major religions (& this includes apologies given). Commonalites are far greater than differences, as you so eloquently stated. I may be dreaming but it would be nice to think that we could oe day put aside the bashing & attempts to convert to realize we are all cut from the same cloth, that each piece contributes to the whole.

Hey Dreamer!! I've missed you too!! Well after we left PA we went to WA and were there for 6 months. The only internet access I had was my mother in laws. Shes great, but VERY territorial! So I was only aloud to check my e-mail. Now we are in Denver, CO and we're buying a condo in Parker (About 30 mins away). It's closer to work. Oh yeah I'm working now!! How cool is that?! I work for Jackson Natl Life Insurance as a processer, but hope to be licensed with in the next year. The kids are doing great. The oldest just turned 15 last month. My middle girl is still on A honor roll. I swear I think the child would have a heart attack if she made a B in anything!! The youngest girl is still a spoiled brat drama queen and my baby boy is 9 this year!!
Other than that everything is basically the same. How's everything in your neck of the woods?

Greetings to one & all!! Sorry I've been so remiss but closing/selling a house, a d-i-l getting ready for a hysterectomy (2-3 days before I move her & the grandsons out of NM for good), the heat here in the SW... things have been crazed!! Now that I have dsl at the computer I use most (none at the NM house), I hope to visit more. Also hoping the discussions here become lively. Maybe now that I can listen while visiting & all running so smoothly, I'll even become a member!!

Well, count me in. I was interested in the wiccan way of life for almost 4 years when I met a friend of a friend of mine (who happens to be one of my best friends by now). She got me into her circle. It's a really nice group (as I mentioned in the thread about covens) and I'm really glad I met them. smile.gif It's almost two years I'm learning with them.

And now I forgot what else I wanted to say sad.gif

I joined a coven when I first started looking into paganism, as I was told the only true form of paganism and/or witchcraft was Wicca. It was several months before I learned the truth.

Now I practice my religion, and my craft alone. I have support from others on my path as and when I need it though.

Posted by: marthien 27-Feb-2009, 05:38 PM
I too am Wiccan, have been walking this path for about 9 years now.
I've heard about Wicca from so many people and didn't really think nothing of it, But one day I read a book "Spirit of the Witch" by Grimassi. He asks 3 questions ( now as I speak I can't remember exactly what 3 question were), But they made me think... So one day I asked a good friend of mine who was Wiccan if he could help me learn more about Wicca. Before I could start doing any of the lessons he had read some books then after I had read them he would quiz me on them to see how serious i was about wanting to learn. So after I had did all he asked of me I started my lessons. passed all 8 lessons, then I devoted myself to a year and a day of study. So on July 19, 2002 I wrote and performed my dedication to the Gods and Goddesses... I have been VERY happy and at peace with myself, and because of my devotion, Kuan Yin has blessed me and my wife with my first child who of which is due this July 21, 09....

I, myself, just discovered Paganism about two years ago. I met a wonderful person who told about her beliefs and I found that they closely matched mine where the Presbyterian church was not doing that.

I started to study and am taking many online courses to learn about all things Pagan/Wiccan. I have an unquenchable thirst for education in these topics. If anyone has any leads as to where I can learn things, I would be willing to listen.

I am alone in my studies mostly because I do not leave my home often. (I am the next best thing to agoraphobic.) I moved about 50 miles from the group I was attending.

Thank you very much.

Yes. I was raised Druid and Wiccan. Being a 12th generation Scot and mother 1/2 Scot and 1/2 Souix it was a way of life and I wouldn't change at all. Why, I have been ask? My answer is, why should I, my way works velho.gif

I knew there would be like minded souls here somewhere on a celtic site. Bright Blessings to you all! I am so glad to have found you. Being a solitary practitioner (actually have lots of friends that practice as well as my husband and daughter but no coven or temple) can be lonely. I guess that sounds kinda off doesn't it? I'm mostly a green or kitchen witch.I have been practicing for 14 years now. I have always believed this way I just never knew there was a name for it and that others felt the same way. Looking forward to sharing lots with you all and learning even more! Blessed Be!

i was born and raised a catholic, and there's nothing wrong with that except the sisters at sunday school found it odd that i asked one of them if Pan was satan's brother. it was a kewl question, and i really wanted to know. course she ran to the holy head cheese, and i was called in to go see him. he asked me about where i would've gotten the notion of Pan being Satan's brother, and i told him, i read stories, and wanted to know if they were connected. then i asked him if he ever wondered about angels really being "astronauts" from outer space that visited us from time to time. and thats when they called my parents in...
my mom sparked the love of reading in me at a very early age. and so my mind roamed thru every book on every subject i could get my hands on. children have a very creative way of connecting the dots, and i was no exception, but it was because of this that made me look outside the box when it came to questions i had about my own belief system.
i worked my way thru many beliefs, learned a lot, but was never really content to stake a committment to just one.
Wicca is a beautiful belief. i understood the elements better than i did the sacraments. i memorized and accepted the wiccan rede so much easier than i did the ten commandments. in fact i still have questions about that... 'Thou shall not kill'... but what if someone was harming your child? should i turn the other cheek? tibetan buddism had me asking that question too. the lama i studied under told me its just plain wrong to kill. and thats true, BUT! (i'm a pest... i know)... what if i was simply running and honestly didn't know that i stepped on and killed an ant along the way... will the evolution of my soul be delayed because of this? and he said yes... regardless on whether or not i consciously knew i killed that ant. killing is wrong. that ant could have evolved into the next savior...
regardless of the wonderful simplicity and beauty i found in wicca, what i didn't like, but could never avoid, was the politics. and its the same for everything. and maybe thats why i prefer to be Spiritual rather than religious for obviously reasons.
i read a saying the other day...

religion is for people who are afraid of going to hell, spirituality is for those who have already been there.

i need to remember that one...

but all things put aside, religion is a fascinating subject, and i enjoy sharing...not arguing, about different ways of experiencing the magnificence and expressing gratitude to the big Divine Wow.
i still have deep connections with wicca, and even if i'm not presently in a covet, or have had my feet planted firmly on the Path, i still consider myself a solitaire ecclectic witch.
...that term still freaks people out, so i use "child of nature." and that seems to calm them down a bit...
maybe because they don't fully understand it...
in fact, someone told me once, "well, theres a little hippie in everyone of us!"

I was born into Paganism. Some family practices Native American Shamanism, celtic and Germanic. I am still searching a praticular path myself, more tied to Earth magick and wolves then anything else.
