"I Wish I Knew Him Better"

As stories go
I knew him well

Could fell a foe
With just one blow

Deep in his chest
A Lions heart

Yet made you laugh
Quick wit to start

This man so strong
Who I loved so

His Danny Boy
Could make tears flow

He told the truth
As best he knew

Though in the end
It had been said

Were much the same
My Dad and me

As stories go
I knew him well

But wish
I knew him better

A very deep poem indeed and one reminder that we are all mortals.
And good or bad we must say what's in our heart to the loved ones.

I agree with LOA. This poem reminded me of my Da thumbs_up.gif Being the youngest of five (13 year spread from the rest) I dinna ken my Da as well as I wanted. He worked two jobs tae keep us Sheltered, Fed and Clothed. It was during the final months that I got tae ken him a bit more. I ken he loved us all, as he did all he could for us. smile.gif But still, ye wish there was more time. So dinna take for granted who ye hae here and now wink.gif

Hi LOA, and Leelee;
I guess if we all knew our parents’ at all. We would be the lucky ones. Of course, there are exceptions to any rule. Anyway thank you both for responding.

JC.

Very good my friend. I envy you as I never knew my Father just my Stepdad and He was a breed unto himself.
