i would love to sit with you even in silence and if all we shared was a smile i would be happy
i would love to fly with you even in fantasy and if all we shared was a dream i would be happy
i would love to lay with you even when weary and if all we shared was a sigh i would be happy
i would love to walk with you even in darkness and if all we shared was a moonbeam i would be happy
shared smiles dreams some sighs and a moonbeam oh to be happy

i'm no one's prince nor even knight though in my dreams i someday might be seen as someone's shining star give comfort through the darkest hour
and how to catch that maiden fair? whose sparkling eyes and flowing hair are always with me so it seems within my heart and pauper's dreams
poetic lines are just a start i've built a castle in my heart formed from love not bricks or stone a castle she can call her own

If I should write a song for you would it make you want to sing? Would you tap your foot and hum along as notes flowed from the strings? Would you understand the feelings that the tune was meant to bring? If I should write a song for you would it make you want to sing?
If I should write a poem for you would it captivate your mind? Would you take it at face value or would you read between the lines? Would you search for hidden meanings or for thoughts left undefined? If I should write a poem for you would it captivate your mind?
If I should give my love to you would you hold it close to heart? Yours I would it's understood hold treasured from the start. Keep it guarded and protected like some priceless work of art. If I should give my love to you would you hold it close to heart?

As morning light broke through the mist, Teddy reflected upon their first meeting, and how his love for her had grown throughout their time together. She was his whole life, his reason for being. But deep inside, he knew that her feelings toward him were not the same, not as strong. He knew that her dreams were of someone else. Someone older, stronger. He had only to look into her eyes to see that her love lie elsewhere. He had fooled himself into believing that he held the lone key to her heart. He saw her as his great love, his inspiration. He knew not her true feelings for him. His mind became clouded with questions. Would she ever feel for him, love him, as he did her? How he wished she would. A gentle rain began to tap against the glass, prompting a tear. Again, how he wished she would... |

"A drink for the lass, M'lord", says the stranger to the barman. Turning towards the mournful maiden, softly he speaks, "Were you to be rough and grizzled from life you would surely be ignored by this crowd, as I have been. Alas, you are still young and vibrant. I'm afraid they'll not leave you unnoticed for very long. Not to worry, though. They seem a good lot, albeit a bit aloof. Perhaps you'll fare better than I." With that, the stranger's gaze returns to the bottom of his tankard. |

All heads turned to take in the stranger entering the pub. Wet with frozen rain and beard caked with ice he approached the landlord and, retrieving a tankard from his leathers, lay it firmly upon the bar. "A pint o' your best, good sir, as I am a bitter man." |

QUOTE (stoirmeil @ 29-Jan-2007, 01:21 PM) | Approximate large-ish number -- you know how when people go fishing and they have a big haul, they say "I caught a mess of fish"? I think it has to do with the processing, whether you use the term "mess" or not. You have to scale and gut and fillet the fish (and the exams, for that matter), but nobody talks about a good crop of apples as a "mess of apples."
|
OK, loosely following your logic we find that a mess of fish could be likened to a mess of manure. At the opposite end of the spectrum, a good crop of apples could be called a corps of apples. Unless they were grown on a truck farm, in which case they would be referred to as a bumper crop. I think I'm seeing the big picture, but I may need some clarification regarding the fish/exam connection (aside from the obvious brain-food angle). I've survived some absolutely gutting exams, and I'm able to follow the scaling process (via the sliding scale, of course), but the filleting has me baffled. Could it be in reference to the fillet knife blade having the same curve as the exam scoring gradient? |

QUOTE (stoirmeil @ 26-Jan-2007, 02:04 PM) | Going to sit down and grade a whole mess of final exams and papers - - am contemplating throwing them all out and giving everyone an A, then going out for a beer.
Just kidding . . . . |
How many constitute a "mess"? Would it be a smaller or larger number than say, a shi*load? Or would it be more along the lines of a plethora? Personally, I would probably be able to make a mess out of just one exam or paper, depending upon the subject matter and time-frame allowed for completion.
Oh sorry, back to the subject of weekend plans. Like Lady of the Loch, I too have unresolved bathroom issues. I need to replace the faucet, but in order to do it properly I must replace the sink and vanity as well. The sink is this terrible avocado color that was popular in the sixties and it's impossible to find any towels or bath accessories that don't clash. I don't know what they would have used for a match back then, as I was raised in a harvest gold bath environment.
BTW- The * in my line above represents the letter "p". Had ya' nervous, eh?

Apparently I missed the test. I certainly hope there's not a makeup test, as I have an extremely limited working knowledge of mascara and eye shadow. Of course, I could always ask a friend of mine who is a hairdresser. I would think that she'd be able to help me study.
As are most hairdressers, she is a colorist as well. I recall the time she was mixing tints and spilled them all over herself. She nearly dyed. |

In our Biology classes we dissected a wide variety of wildlife, from freshly caught fish (perch) to birds and fetal pigs. Our dissection trays were basically wax-filled brownie pans with several years worth of straight-pin holes. Even when empty, the pans retained a heavy smell of formaldehyde. Since our dissection patients weren't preserved in casualdehyde, and all were wearing tails, this made perfect sense to me... |
