I was entitled for R&R program (vacation for military personnels), and went to Hong Kong, and the date is a good time (between my birthday and Chinese New Year)
frankly, the feeling is not like the past, a lot of stores open even on the 2nd and 3rd day, but most of offices go back to work on 4th day (the 1st-3rd days of Chinese New Year are holidays)
also, I enjoy the food here, I pretty love the localized food (cart noodle, bowl fin, congee, Cantonese Ramen, Veg food), it recalled a lot of past memory
the traffic has no big difference from 2001, I can't go to Disneyland because it's full everyday
I tried to find Scottish and Irish community there, but no luck, it sounds like it's either too small or not well-organized
cost of living gets higher than 5 years ago (about 20-30% I think), but I still get great experience of shopping (Hong Kong is computer and cellphone paradise)
however, I got an incident happens on other forums, that makes me pretty upset, but I decide to simply put it aside for a while to prevent from ruining my fun

Hi Mingkee,

Its good to hear from you! How is military life treating you!

Hong Kong sounds great. My brother married a girl from Hong Kong and it sounds like a wonderful place - high tech indeed.

Hope you are doing well and please do let us know about your travels!
