What Movies Have You Seen Recently?, Old and new

Seen Nanny McPhee - was pretty good. We liked it very much.

We also went and saw The Pink Panther. That one was hilerious. We almost rolled of our seats and on the floor because we laughed so much.

Anyone seen Hoodwinked? Heard it was okay but not worth the money to waste at the theater. I guess I am waiting for it to come out on DVD and get it on Netflix.

I love Netflix - have it now for 7 months and my wishlist is still very long. Can't wait to get the new Pride and Prejudice on Feb. 28th.

I just got in from a matinee double header. I went and saw Nanny McPhee and Eight Below.

Nanny McPhee was good and entertaining, although I don't know how much really young children will like it. The older ones might understand it more.

But first we saw Eight Below. Absolutely fabulous. The scenery being so cold and harsh, is quite a contrast the the amount of heart this movie has. If you are a soft touch for animals though like me you definately want to bring some tissue. I don't know I'd take the kids to Eight Below if you don't want to be answering a lot of questions though.

Rented 'The Three Amigos'. Very good!

I think I can answer that question, it's the last movie I've seen...

Two aging spinster sisters have their peaceable Cornwall existence disrupted in 1936 when they take a young Polish violinist into their care. After a particularly violent storm, Ursula and Janet Widington awake to find young man Andrea half-drowned and badly injured on the beach. They slowly discover that he is a Polish Jew with a gift for music as an accomplished violinist, hoping to find his way to America. But the village isn't used to visitors and everyone, with the exception of the sisters, is full of suspicions, especially when Andrea develops a friendship with a beautiful Russian woman vacationing nearby. Eventually, the two must make a choice between trying to keep their new charge for themselves or setting him free in the world. (quote from allocine.com)

Judy Dench and Maggie Smith are excellent, all the feelings are evoked with sensibility. I've to say it's very funny too, essentially because of the character of Dorcas, the typical Cornish cook of the old ladies . And the music is amazing !

I know! It IS outrageous! That's why we (we're a family of 6, too) don't go to the theaters anymore. We just wait for the DVDs to come out, and then have a family movie night together. It's more fun, and much, much quieter. Plus, we can always re-watch our favorite scenes right away!

I've just seen The Ballad of Jack and Rose with Daniel Day Lewis.

A good film who ask questions

Just saw Eight Below last weekend. Great movie based on a true story. The story is MUCH darker than the movie, but both are a tribute to the strength and resiliance of the sled dog!

I've got the Partridge Family albums, if you ever want to come by for a listen - I swear I'd forgotten I had them, but as we've been packing non-essentials lately I went thru my vinyl and by golly there they were. There's even a David Cassidy solo album (remember his cover of Cherish? Its actually pretty good!)

Once I was on a Women's Retreat with a group from my church, and longtime friend and fellow former Partridge Family fan Terri was on the bus too as we made our way to the retreat destination. Somewhere around Nashville we spotted a big ole white bus painted with those unmistakable bright colors, and the two of us started singing "Cone On Get Hap-PEEEEE" at the top of our lungs!

Those other church ladies didn't know quite what to think,

Rented "Fun with Dick & Jane" yesterday. Good movie, although I cannot stand Jim Carrey!

"Waking Ned Divine "is a great movie !!!I saw it on amazon.com when i was buying 'The Secret Of Rohan Inish"(which is another good movie) and decided to buy it and I loved it.Give it a try.

The last movies I watched:

Theater: "X-Men: The Last Stand" which sucked.
DVD: "Easy Rider" which I borrowed from the library.

Latest movies I watched were "Kate and Leopold." Much better than I thought it would be. I really enjoyed this movie a lot.

"Along Came Polly" I saw this this week. Funny movie but more charming and heart warming than anything...another wonderful chick flick!

"Be Cool" with John Travolta and Uma Thurman. Not only take off from "Get Shorty," but as much similarity from that first film as possible. I really loved "Get Shorty" many years ago this new film was a total waste of my time.

The last movie in a theatre that I saw was The Da Vinci Code. Last movie I got from Netflix (I love Netflix!) was Tristan and Isolde. Pretty good movies... They left a lot out of the Da Vinci Code. Sometimes I really hate reading the book before seeing the movie! LOL

"An Inconvenient Truth" was the last movie I saw. Facts and figures and common sense there.
