I just have to express that my favorite CD is from Barrdas called "Barddas!" They are truly terrific musicians and vocalists! Is very hard to pick out my very favorite songs on the CD. They are all very lively, upbeat and really makes you feel like you are back in the 18th century when this kind of music was probably played and celebrated! However, my personal favorite is the song called, "The Conjuring" as I love Celtic instrumentals. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves Celtic music! I anxiously await their new CD!
Ooh! I love Wolfstone too! I don't have that CD you mentioned. I have "Almost an Island." I hope I got that right I love their music, but a friend of mine insists that they broke up a long time ago and I see no indication of that, have any of you? I sure hope not!

Picking one favorite Celtic CD?? Why don't you ask me to talk about your age or weight while I'm at it. Losing battle either way. Soo so very many excellent CDs. I've started thinking of the following answer to the question:

The new cd by Solas is one of my favorites also Wolfstones w/ Tall ships is another great cd. I like the fact that Solas is doing americana folk music with an Irish twist really killer stuff. I am a guitarist that ha played with some famous Blues Musicians and have discovered iriish Trad last year and have been learning it with the same fervor that I had when I was a kid hearing albert King for the firsttime back in the late 60's. I am here in Phoenix Arizona which has a great Irish music scene here and a wonderful culteral center that has tons of activities. If anyone out there know Solas tell them the Bluzman says "right On!" we are listening........very closely. I am interested in corresponding with Irish Trad players [email protected] tommy grills
this is my big favorite however, there're 2 things I don't like 1. used too much computerized sound 2. sound control, the sound is compressed too much when listening "harpsong", too much rumbling due to excessive compressing
Clannad: Anam and Banba they're my all-time-favorite Moya Brennan has excellent voice, and sounds very touching
Mark Knophler: Local Hero this is another all-time-favorite and thanks highlanderradio, that unlocked the mystery of "whistle theme" love it very well
Chieftains: Tears of the Stone I never heard Sinead O'Connor has that beautiful voice "Factory Girl" is excellent
4 Loreena McKennitt albums (Parallel Dream, The Visit, The Mask and the Mirror, The Book of Secrets) no doubt, McKennitt is a good, versatile signer-song writer and her music mixed with some South Asian/Middle Eastern feeling, that's ultimate
Moya Brennan: Two Horizons she made her angelic voice however, this is not on the top bad sound editing ruined everything
Emerald Rose: Celtic Cresent this is a collection of 2 (Bending Tradition and Fire in Your Head) guitar+whistle make the magic! "Hill of America" reflects American Dream "Star of the County Down" is very unique, different from any other versions)
(1/2 Celtic) Gerry Rafferty: North and South this is a mix of Celtic and Pop however, "Shipyard Town" is 100% Celtic, along with "North and South" the bagpipe made up everything

I have several favorite Celtic CDs on the other hand, I buy it once I like it (dled mp3s) I have over 40 Celtic CDs, and I like them all it's IMPOSSIBLE to pick up the best
I agree...it's difficult to chose one Celtic cd as a favorite. It's a good question, though, makes me stop to think about it but my favorite changes quite often, with my moods, haha...and then I hear a new song on here that I really like.
yes, I must admit that it is very difficult to pick just one, but thought there was just one that you were listening to more than than any other right now, eh?
I have been listening to Barrdas more than any other, but I also listen to Wicked Tinkers, Wolfstone, Loreena McKinnett and many others as well.
if the listener is REALLY responsible then the one will surely buy a CD once liked dled mp3s for me, I bought some CDs after I found I like the dled mp3s
this shows that I like the mp3, and support the singer/writer
