I liked the path. It reminds me of the ones I used to walk in the woods as a kid. Also makes me think that I could do a story around it. Thanks, Phoenix |
Posted by: oldraven 16-Sep-2004, 01:54 PM |
I too like the Path and the aerial view of Lebanon. The later looks like something you'd find on a tourism website. And the path has a soothing feel to it. It looks as though you used a partialy opaque filter to get that fuzzy look. The main reason I like these two is their perspective. It's an image that wouldn't be found in your average photo album. Unlike the rest, it appears as though you sought out the right vantage point for those photos. |

I think they are great. I really like the Eire and the overview of Lebanon. Where were you to get such a beatuiful picture of the city? |

thank you for appreciating my pictures, Aaediwen havent thought any1 would like it though.. i always take pics of whatever catches my eyes, but never tried to show them to anyone.. |
Posted by: phoenix07 17-Sep-2004, 05:12 PM
i like The Path more than anyother pic too.. i called it so coz i was imagining it as myself running to catch my last way out of the endless fear i live in before it vanishes from my sight.. waiting to read the story |
Posted by: phoenix07 17-Sep-2004, 05:20 PM
i dont really use any kinds of filters..i'm not a professional photographer but i guess the view itself helps the picture to be so breath-taking.. i like to write a poem in my mind before taking a picture of anything..capturing the senses & pouring them words into my being...& there it goes.. i really take time to take such pictures, but they are worth it! |
Posted by: phoenix07 17-Sep-2004, 05:25 PM
you mean the lebanon overview? well, thats when we went to Harissa for the Saint Mary Church,, we had to get there by telefrique..the view was very beautiful..i had to take it by my little sister's DigiCam coz i forgot mine..i still dont like the result, coz i dont believe digicams can have the same quality of ordinary ones.. |

First off, info about the site... "The site's Iranian name is Takht-e-Jamshid, "The throne of Jamshid", a mythical King of Iran. The ancient name is "Parsa", "Pars's Town". Provincial of Fars. Altitude 1,800 meters, 60 km N-E of Shiraz.. Takht-e-Jamshid was set ablaze by Alexander the Greek (330 BC) after which only ruins have remained" http://www.imghst.com/uploads/zopyrus/PERSPOLISIIIII.jpg http://www.imghst.com/uploads/zopyrus/NATIONS%20GATE.jpg http://www.imghst.com/uploads/zopyrus/PERSPOLISII.jpg http://www.imghst.com/uploads/zopyrus/PERSPOLISIII.jpg "Alexander" The Movie will be opened on November 5th.. i'd surely be watching it to see how they made up the story.. |

Those are nice Pheonix, I noticed you are from UAE. Can you travel easily from country to country there? Anne |
Posted by: phoenix07 18-Sep-2004, 03:48 AM |
travelling is so easy in Dubai..i'm not sure about the Capital AbuDhabi.. but i guess it is easy in all different emirates (the 7 main cities).. the trouble would be in the destination you're going to! |

Happy Birthday, Phoenix! I am really going to show my ignorance here, but I am confused. Where are you from that you and your family wear the beautiful ghasghaei dresses? I thought I have seen posts from you mentioning Australia and then Dublin too. Please forgive me. I am just trying to learn something here that I am now educated on. I have really enjoyed your photos too. Are you from any of those areas or just traveled to them? |

Whoa! Phoenix! That is you in your profile? You are a very very beautiful girl! I love your dress too! I love the music and dress from the area that you are from. Your niece is very beautiful too. My gosh! Those eyes and that dress she si wearing! I am a portrait painter myself and once I did a portrait of a little girl from Pakistan. I really loved painting her. I don't paint anymore though. Wish I had a photo of the portrait to show you though. I really think the people of the Arab and Indian nations are such very gorgeous people! |

Posted by: CelticRose 09-Jan-2005, 05:22 PM |
I don't know what happened to that painting I did of the Paki girl. I gave it to my uncle and then he died and I don't remember what happened from there. I don't know if I gave it to someone else or sold it. If you want to see some of my artwork, I have a thread in the artwork section in here titled "Artwork by Celticrose." I have some photography in this thread too. I mostly do portraits of Native American Indians, or I did. I got burned out with all the doing and showing of my artwork. I got bored with my subject matter. Then while I did sell my artwork, it was never enough to make a living at it and I just got kind of discouraged and gave up on it. One day I will probably get back to it, but for now I just need a long break from it all. Want to see more of your photos. I will try to post more photos in my photo thread too. |
Posted by: phoenix07 09-Jan-2005, 08:45 PM |

El, Those are such wonderful pictures of your family and tribe. Rose is right! You, your sister and your neice are beautiful! And what beautiful outfits you have on. Thank you for the link with more information on Iran. As soon as I get time I will be sure and read it. Please do set up a topic on Persia/Iran if you would like. I know that we would love to know more about it, and you. Thanks for sharing! |

Thanks for looking at my art and photography threads, Phoenix! I appreicate it. I know a lot of artists who have set up their own website to sell their work and had no more success than out showing their work at art shows and galleries like I did. I did think about selling some on eBay though! Thanks for your offer to help too! I appreciate that too. |

Phoenix! I went and looked at your little world on deviantART. some really fabulous photos there. Plus, I love seeing what it looks like in your part of the world. I was going to join deviantART, but I see you have to pay for that monthly so I didn't do it. Looks like a great site though. Has a message board too, eh? |
Posted by: phoenix07 11-Feb-2005, 04:51 PM |
jesus! i just noticed your note here sorry for being away for long time.. if you go again to deviantart, you can notice that you can change the option in the combobox to "No Thanks!" the subscription though gives u load of options like print option..i guess i have to wait till i get my place & pictures improved then see if i would like to subscribe, other than that it will be waste of money! waiting to see your beautious works |

Hi Phoenix! I haven't done any photography lately. We are having a lot of rain here in the desert which promises a beautiful and blooming desert, so I plan to be out there taking pics when spring comes around in a month or so. Thanks for telling me about deviantart. It looks like a great site. Maybe when I get some more photos done, I will join it and load some of my stuff in there. Although I am really not that good. Hope you are doing well. |
Posted by: phoenix07 11-Feb-2005, 05:22 PM |
your drawings are amazing! id be supporting you all the way though im sure you can do great without any support!! will be waiting for the new pictures then |
Posted by: oldraven 03-Aug-2005, 12:12 PM |
Rose, Deviantart is completely free. You only pay for subscription features (pictures in your journal, watchlist options, more prefferences, etc.), which I do for the ten bucks every three months. Anyway, I was disapointed to see all of your pictures were gone, phoenix, but I see now that you've just moved it all over to Da. Some that really stand out to me are: -The Child Within This is absolutely beautiful. Those two are purely carefree, and just happy to have your attention. Even though it is backlit, the image came out with a very soft and warm feel, while clearly detailing the girls. -Fragile I'm a big fan of history, and even more in the art of history. This piece came out perfect. It's interesting to see the similarities between this Lebanese artwork and tribal celtic knotwork. -Wandering Beauty The picture gives you a feel for the warm environment the girl is in. Innoncence and curriosity. Great work. Keep it up. |

Thanks OR! I don't feel like I am that good or a prolific photographer to join such a site as Devianart. I have seen some really magnificent work in there. Kind of intimidating for me to join, but at the same time for me to enjoy others' works. |
Posted by: oldraven 04-Aug-2005, 10:42 PM |
dA isn't just for photographers. It's for every type of art. Your paintings and sketchwork would be perfectly at home there. And the majority of people on that site are learning, and some at an extremelly basic level. It's a place to learn and share. But there's a major upheaval going on there right now. Something massively corrupt with the higher-ups. I do believe there will be a new site starting up soon. For those of us for whom the magic is gone. dA was honestly getting far too big anyway. Too corporate. 1.1million users, as of december. |
Posted by: CelticRose 04-Aug-2005, 11:58 PM |
Oh wow! I didn't know all that OR about art and photography. I have only seen photography work in there by some folks I know who post in there. And I guess I didn't really realize it was a good place to learn and exchange. Thanks! Keep me posted on a new site if one does come up. Btw, my digital camera gets shipped off to the camera repair tomorrow. I will be without it at a minimum of 6 weeks! I am so very upset about this as it is only a little over a year old, but it already has some problems to be fixed. My hubby tried to surprise me last year for my birthday by buying me this Fujifilm S3000 and it takes outstanding pics, but it is not what I would have chosen for a digital cam. I am a die-hard Canon fan and would have gotten one them instead. Good thing I have my old standbys who have been good workhorses and faithful for 30 years, my Canon 35 mm SLRs! They have been through rain, dust and dropped several times and they just keep on going! You really can't beat them. However, now I want a Canon SLR digital as I find the point and shoot digitals to be a real nuisance because of the delay time. I want real time in photography when I am doing any kind of action. Anyway, I can dream on cause hubby ain't buying one. |

mmmmmmm Rebel XT EOS SLR. 8.0mp. That's a bloody dream. This is the next unit I'd like to get. (I'll won't be holding my breath, though). http://kmpi.konicaminolta.us/eprise/main/kmpi/content/cam/cam_product_pages/Maxxum_7D?mDetail=Specifications The light gasket (seal?) on the back of the body came off while we were on vacation. I tried my best to re-apply it, but half of my pictures came out with light leaking extremely bad. I have a feeling every one I took at the beach (our short time on the shores of the Pacific) will be completely ruinned. For now, I'm getting my sister to make me a leather case for the camera body to keep light away from the entire camera, because there's no way to tell where it's comming in at. That and it would cost more to get rebuilt than it did to buy it in the first place. I got two rolls developed though, and there are a good many pictures that I can use. |
