Nope I am not speaking of us girls here on CR but the wonderful talent's of the collection of talented women who make up Celtic Woman.
They will be performing this Sat (easter weekend ) April 15th in Birmingham Ala at the BJCC (civic center) downtown this Sat night.
If you are near there do take in this group of talented women. Lisa who I met years ago was with the Riverdance group. Pick up their album and sit back to be transported to another place and time.
ShadowDarkFyre and I saw the show when it was up here in Milwaukee last October. It was magical. Every sound was just so beautiful (except the guy snoring up front). If you have a chance to get tickets do go. You don't want to miss this.

Two new CD's coming out. A new preformance recording at Slane castle and a Christmas CD. I found the Christmas one this weekend at Barne's and Noble-samples sounded good and I will probably pick it up. No mention of either one on Amazon or CDbaby yet. Their own website had only this little mention of the Christmas CD after a lengthy section on the new live recording.
Prior to Celtic Woman: A New Journey, Manhattan Records will release Celtic Woman’s A Christmas Celebration on October 3. Comprising 14 Christmas favorites and a traditional Gaelic carol all newly arranged by Celtic Woman musical director David Downes, the album features the soaring harmonies and lush orchestrations that have enchanted fans of the group since they debuted in America last year.

Maybe its just me, but my wife bought me this cd and it was, well, okay. It did not really knock me off my feet. Some tracks are outstanding. But overall, tis an okay cd. IMO, that is.

I felt the same way when I heard it. I still think Celtic Collection 1 is better, not necessary a great selection of "celtic" songs but better. I had only picked up the Cd cuz it and the Real McKenzie's were the only Celtic cd's in stock at Wally World. I enjoy it when I want something really mellow and I'm not in the mood for Enya. The quality of singing and musicianship is great but it seems geared more toward an older? audience. But I have not seen the DVD yet so that might change my perspective. Sometimes the energy portrayed on stage fills in the missing holes and you suddenly see what everyone is so excited about. I think I will pick up the Christmas one because it is that well orchestrated type of music and not that same 1960's jingle bell rock theme they usually play up here. I been so tempted to buy each radio staion up here a complete Manheim Steamroller or Trans Siberan orchestra cd collection just to hear something different. I'd even settle for Bob Rivers. But from what I remember there are quite a few good Christmas songs on this Cd including Carol of the Bells, one of my wife's favs. I'm still waiting for Amazon to post the songs so I can listen to more samples before I buy it. I hope there is some more fiddle playing on there. that part rocked for a while there and I caught that part of the show on their website and youtube and it made it even better.
Just checked Amazon and the christmas CD is there with a song listing-no sample tracks yet takes a few days but reviews are good. And does anybody know who the red headed woman is that they use on their cd and DVD covers? Doesn't look like any of the singers.

My understanding is, believe it or not, that she's a model from France. I think I saw that on the CW forum somewhere.

"True conformity to the dictates of nature requires reverence for the past and solicitude for the future. 'Nature' is not simply the sensation of the passing moment; it is eternal, though we evanescent men experience only a fragment of it. We have no right to imperil the happiness of posterity by impudently tinkering with the heritage of humanity."

I picked up the CW "A Christmas Celebration" yesterday at the local Borders....I LOVE IT! They take the very traditional christmas carols and perform them beautifully. Lisa does an amazing job with "The Christmas Song". I nearly broke out in tears just because of it's shear beauty. A very well done version of "The Wexford Carol" is also on the album as well as a smashing job on "Let It Snow!".
It's a really good one to add to the christmas collection. If you like CW you'll really enjoy their christmas album.
I borrowed the Celtic Woman CD from the library earlier this year, copied it on to my computer and burned it to a blank CD. I think the whole album is good. I especially like "You Raise Me Up". Much better than Josh Groban's caterwauling version.

I went to see them live when they were in Washington DC. Although I did not care for all of the songs, they were very good. The fiddle player was great and I would go back just to watch her play anytime.
