In the small fishing village of Inglis FL where my sister lives, one of her neighbors decorated her lawn one year with some old Christmas lights that she bought at a garage sale - all red bulbs. So someone commented about her "red light district" and the neighbor decided to not only keep the red lights but to add to it! So now that whole entire yard is covered in red Christmas lights - every palm tree, every tropical bush, and every twig or fishing line that will hold a string of lights! Its fun and great for a hearty laugh while sitting on the porch in balmy 80' weather that is Winter in Florida!

Perhaps all have been overcome by the hypnotic spell of the Cat? Perhaps they indeed developed "cat madness" and are are even now at this very minute raiding garbage cans in some dark alley of Edinburg, or curled up seductively in the lap of some handsome stranger, waiting for a nibble of catnip? The forces of the Cat are powerful and mysterious...

Who knows how this story ever ended or if indeed the story is over?

Although Al Gore is not running for president again, he made a very valuable speech. I enjoyed reading the CNN website this morning and I thought I would share it with the forum. I am glad I am not the only one who sees that our "Emporer has no clothes!"

My condolences RavenWing. My grandmother was apparently the lynchpen that held my family together - she had left behind 12 children and 50+ grandchildren and great grandchildren - and none of us have been together since her funeral several years ago. We are all scattered across the United States. I have lost two uncles since then, and I did not even know about it until several months after their funerals - one died of pancreatic cancer and the other was killed in a tree-felling accident.

Be glad for the family that you DO have, and remember that we are all only human beings. Don't burn your bridges, sooner or later you may want the opportunity to reach out.

CNN has another article about a Castle. Walt Disney visited here before he built Disney Land, so they think he might have been inspired to create Cinderella's Castle based on this place.

I think that the poem is quite lovely because it strikes a UNIVERSAL chord in all of us. We all want to feel special and if someone were to give me a poem such as yours, I would indeed feel unique and special.

I think akferret should open her own ecard website! She clearly has the talent, now all she needs is a bit of computer artwork and VIOLA!

Sometimes, at midnight, I've seen at least 10 people online.

Let's not forget that we have a world-wide listening audience - what is midnight for some may be the first cup of coffee in the morning for others!

I voted in favor of swapping for the simple reason that once children learn how to share files via internet, they will do it - illegal or not. Then the parents are held financially responsible in these lawsuits. I think unless they find some way to encrypt the music, the sharing will continue unabated.

I agree with the argument about cassette music - I see no difference between them other than the technology is better. My cassette copy of Cheech and Chong literally disintegtrated many years ago. wink.gif

Well, after making a couple of telephone calls from a pay phone, I was finally able to locate a veterinarian who knew of a place where I could board Garfield for awhile until we could get settled. All of this traveling was taking its toll on both of us. We rode in a taxi cab to the address the vet had given me, and I nearly cried when I told Garfield goodbye. He seemed bored with the whole notion, until the worker tried to take him. Then he turned into all teeth and claws and wanted to fight. I held him firmly in my arms and carried him back to the room he would be kept in until my return. I tipped the worker handsomely, and instructed him on the type of cat food that he should feed Garfield. I brought along a case of his favorite tinned sardines, to make him feel more at home. I also gave him a small bag of marbles to play with - his favorite toys.

The cabbie was still waiting for me outside, so I gave him the address to the Panamanian Bar - although he seemed to know it without me even saying anything other than the name. I hoped that Firth and his friend were having a good time, while they waited for me. I just hoped that they were having *too* good of a time, becuase my plans for Firth didn't stop with the Balboas at the Bar. There was something I have needed to speak to him about for quite some time, but there has never been a right moment to say it.... I paid the taxi driver as we pulled up to the curb and thanked him for waiting on me.

As my eyes adjusted to the dimly lit bar, I heard music from the jukebox finish one spanish song and a familar Santana tune began to reverberate through the bar..."Well, it's a hot one..." The song sent a chill down my spine. With a smile of joy and relief I found Firth sitting at a table in a corner of the bar. I said !Hola! and gave him a big hug as I excused myself and made my way to the ladies room. I remember the LAST time we sat in a bar together, it seemed like months ago - let's just hope we don't have the same problems here!

My trouble is: I want my historical films to be true to the historical facts.... Sad, but true that I do not think Hollywood has EVER made a 'Scottish' film that has been true...... sad.gif

I don't think that Hollywierd has EVER created a historically accurate movie - ever! Scottish or otherwise. You dont really believe that the wild west was like all of those John Wayne movies do you? Or that Atlanta burned down the way it is shown in Gone With The Wind? It burned all right but it wasn't nearly so glamorous as they show in the movie. I hate that movie because every single Ball Gown has a zipper in the back, and all the men are wearing Timex Wrist Watches. Has anyone ever noticed that there is a White Mini Van driving right through the big Battle Scene in the movie Gettysburg!

Nope give me kilts, popcorn, and a tall glass of iced tea and I'm good for a couple of hours. Put Mel Gibson in that movie and I'm even better! clap.gif cheers.gif

Well, we didn't get to 1100 new members last night - but I will dare to say that 99 new members in one month has set some sort of record for our forum! I can remember when it took us a YEAR to get 100 members!

To whomever lucky 100 will be - congratulations!

Thank You MDF3530! I think I have gotten the "hang" of it now. I tidied up this thread a bit - I pasted the graphics to the appropriate posts...

You may consider yourself an esteemed and honored member of the Royal Court of Janetania. I know I can consult you on such important matters as image graphics.

Another order of Limes are on their way to the Isle of Corona as a token of my appreciation! tongue.gif
