As my mom is fond of saying (you can tell she is an ex-schoolteacher):

"Not I," said the little red hen.

I will be going to the Chicago Celtic Festival this coming weekend biggrin.gif !

No, sorry. But can anyone advise if there are any games that might be coming up in or around the western Kentucky area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. beer_mug.gif

This coming weekend in Paducah, the Western Kentucky Highland Festival in Carson Park runs from Friday Sept 12 to Sunday Sept 14. Their website has been down for a couple of days but you might be able to get some more information by calling (270) 443-2064.

A Celtic festival used to take place in Hopkinsville but the October festival was cancelled in 2002 due to a number of reasons including a lack of volunteer support. It was supposed to be rescheduled in 2003 but there hasn't been any word of a new date.

The next closest would be in central Kentucky near Glasgow. The Glasgow Highland Games will take place from June 3 to 6, 2004.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, Keltic. I didn't realize they had any so close. I was just in Paducah last week on busines. (@ 2 hrs. drive). I am going to try to make it this weekend if I can get arrangements made. (Kids and the wife works part-time). Are you from this area or is there a website that has listings? Thank you again for taking the time to reply. beer_mug.gif

Your welcome Ranger. I actually have a listing on my website (Keltic Nations) with over 300 festivals and games taking place around North America with links to their sites. I started it about 5 years ago as a matter of interest for our business and ended up continuing with it. I am now building on to it to include non-North American events.

Another useful site is by the Clan MacLachlan which can be found at http://www.maclachlans.org/games.html.

Well the music was fantastic! The scenery was pretty fantastic too, especially the male parts of it wearing kilts!
