I saw Le Vent Du Nord perform in Montreal during this past summer at Francofolie. They played at the Trad" booth. Also headlining was La Bouttine Souriante ( referred by Dirty Linen Mag. as the best band in the world biggrin.gif ) I also saw Vent Du Nord perform on CBC TV with the Chieftains a few months ago.

If these groups don't make the line up here ( not specifically Celtic) it would really be worthwile to browse their websites and try a listen smile.gif

Yikes one more...still not quite Celtic ( sorry Macfive rolleyes.gif Promise to stick to Celtic next post thumbsup.gif )

I'd like to suggest Sea of No Cares by Great Big Sea. Barque in the Harbor is my favorite Great Big Sea song, and all the others on the CD are wonderful as well.

I recommend Malinky! I have Last Leaves, and it's wonderful. They have beautiful accents, and the music is gorgeous (and very easy to get stuck in your head, to which one of my friends can attest - although I probably shouldn't have played "Alison Cross" quite so many times - I just love the instrumental part building the dramatic background for the singing.)

Their website is www.malinky.com

Malinky! I second that! I've wanted their 3Ravens c.d for awhile now, but haven't gotten around to buying it. Good choice Meryat!

Hullo!! I'm going to be a good little fan and insert a plug (as that is what you asked for after all) for a Celtic group I adore. They have but one CD at the moment, but it's phenominal! Hunting McLeod. Oh yes, the very same that I mentioned in my journal a few days ago. (That was before I got brave and started exploring the forums. Glad I did happy.gif) Their web page is http://www.huntingmcleod.com

Enjoy!

Dont know if I'm to late to suggest a group. If so then oh well im usually late for something. I heard this fellow at the Mississippi Highland Games and Celtic Festival. Jed Maurum is his name and his website is Jed Maurum. He is an excellent singer, with a very pronounced Irish sound.
