It looked so sad sitting there with little dashes beside it, so I figured, hey! Be the first!

Here's some questions...

When did you learn about your Celtic heritage?

What do you know about your ancestry?

If you could go back in time, which era would you go to?

What would you ask the ancestor that moved the family to America?

Great question! When my Nana was frustrated or annoyed (and me and my brother made sure this was a daily occurance!) she would slip back into the Irish language. We had no idea what she said, and when we queried our Mom, she told us that she was speaking Irish! Then the questions started...

My dad got started on our geneology a few years back after my sister had a class project. He has traced much of our roots back to Germany. However, the individual to carry the family name over was one Richard Creech, who came over from Fife, I think it was in the 1700's.

My oldest son and daughter joined some civil war descendant organizations based on my wife's ancestors, so I decided to find just one of my own . . . little did I realize where that simple thought would take me. . . .

I attended a Highland Games festival outside of Atlanta, GA a couple of years back. The sounds of the pipes coming out of the trees did something to me. With a last name beginning in McC I knew I had to have some celtic blood in me.

Later that year I discovered that a cousin in Texas had done some research and she and I compared notes, and filled in some gaps.

I cruised the internet looking for infomation. I spent $$$ and genealogy sites. And one day I saw a message on some message board asking about McCulloughs. She left her email address. I contacted her and we discovered that we're something like 4th cousins and she and I merged our information.

I think I have information going to County Antrim in Ireland. But considering the area and the time it is very possible that my line came from lowland Scotland; they left Scotland to settle in the Ulster area of Ireland.

My goal is simply to get from me to Scotland in a verifiable line, and then to visit that area. Maybe even have a wee dram of local beverage. I have no desire to find my way all the way back to Adam and Eve.

I don't know anything about my family heritage. my family has never been into the heritage thing and I wish soooo much that we were. All I know is that I had a grandma called Sabina Patricia Brady...that's all I know. I wish I knew more! It's so depressing not know where you come from, why we came to america, and all that! *sniff*
