The black rectangle has somewhat of a blue hue in some places. There's an image in there, just too hard to make it out.

Ah. With a lot of contrast & brightness adjustment, I can make out the image of a forest.
I've noticed that for some reason, images appear darker on celticradio.
The way I did my images, to address the problem you presented, was to make a small 100px wide tumbnail, then a link to the full size image. It helps you're bandwidth by using a file under 10mb, and also the host by using a link; and people can still get an idea of what the image looks like when they first open the thread.

with the right display settings, as some of you have noticed, that image looks as it should. However, I've noticed that in many cases it is simply too dark so I'm looking for a time to redo another one. Would you believe that that picture is part of a photograph taken in *very broad, and very bright* daylight? Long live the GIMP!

Who said anything about Photoshop!?!?
Actually, I think Photoshop is a great program, I see it and the GIMP as nearly equal. Just that you can't beat GIMP's pricetag and it has proven easier for a non-graphic artist like me to learn. Grokking the GIMP was a Rosetta Stone for me.
