Are the people on talk shows real or actors? Like the Jerry Springer show? Are these people paid actors to come on there and be extreme or do they really have those lives? What do you believe?

Some of those people are real. We had an incident in the Detroit area as a result of something that happened on Jenny Jones.

A guy came on the show knowing that someone else was going to come on that was supposed to reveal having a crush on him. Now, the first guy was straight - very. Well, the second guy who came on was gay, and did indeed reveal having a crush on the straight guy. Well, the straight guy seemed to handle it okay while on TV. However, not long after the show aired, he showed up at the gay guy's house with a shot gun and killed him. He said the show humiliated him. He said he was not told the person with the crush was gay.

The family of the guy who was killed pressed a civil suit agains Jenny Jones. I can't remember what the premise of the suit was, but they blamed Jones for the death of the gay man.

So, yeah, some that is real.

Now, this is just my opinion, but Who Cares?

I personally would rather watch The History Channel, or The Science Channel.
I find now entertainment in show of that nature.

They are real. And that is why this country is in decline. Reality TV is the devil. Thank God FRIENDS is off the air. TV is making this country stupid. The $40K a year jobs are gone for putting washers and screws in little bags and instead of retraining, we are watching Who Wants To Marry A Midget Millionaire With Really Bad Teeth. I weep for the future............... king.gif

It saddens me to see the degredation of society. There is no quality in TV shows today. Give me Lavern and Shirly, Happy days, Andy Griffith show. I look for shows with some kind of substance and they are no where to be seen. Reality shows are the worst!! It might be someone's reality but not mine. I usually watch HGTV or the Travel channel (we plan on a trip to Hawaii in June). Well, just my thoughts.

I'm with you. I don't watch Springer or any of that sort of show. However, I don't think they're actors. I know too many people like the folks that appear on those shows.

You couldn't pay me enough to make me take off my clothes on TV. bag.gif

I agree. Who cares? (I love the History and Discovery Channels too....wink.gif )
But to reply to a few of the messages posted.....

It's not reality TV that is the 'devil', or making society a bunch of drooling, moronic tools. It is society making those things. They might be created by a TV exect. But it's lifeline are the many blind followers of such programming.
I would much rather watch a bunch of "FRIENDS" interact, that care about one another, and become some what functioning members of society. Than a bunch of egotistical twits, swallowing liquified cow brains, or put out somebodies torch. Or listen about the 3 headed love child of Elvis.

You can't blame TV. It's like blaming the band for someone killing themself because a marilyn manson CD was in the cd player at the time. The band didn't pull the trigger, and the networks do not control *YOUR* remote.
The Choice is yours..........

Sorry about kindda going off topic. I just get really aggrivated when TV, and music, media in general is blamed for the collapse of society.

Now back to your previously scheduled program- Already in progress.

Your right Barddas, it's not TV.

If everyone stopped watching these shows, you think they would produce more? NO

unfortunately it is society that is driving the programs, TV is just cratering to the masses, and as long as people keep tuning in, they will keep producing trash TV.

I tend not to watch TV at all, except an occasional newscast. Unfortunately, sick TV is a reflection of a sick society. IMHO, the two tend to feed on each other, consuming us all in a spiraling downward path.

I'd have to agree, we live in a society that demands crap. Oh well, I'm off to listen tp peckry and friends.
