...brushing through my hair.
Suddenly my reveie was interupted and the pub went silent as all heads turned in unison to see what all the noise and comotion were coming from the street outside. There had been two loud and very distinct "Bangs" followed by a loud screeching noise and a babble of voices rising quickly in tone. An old man rushed to the grimy window and peered out...

Ye have to put ur bottle down, focus and read the posts before you reply Man. An ice cube is a little square piece of frozen water from m'well. I pour scots whisky over one in place of Emmet's "few drops of water". Then I drink it. It's very manly. wine.gif

I've found I cannot get the ice cube through the bottle's neck. Plus, if I am sharing my whisky with you I don't trust you to not backwash on me. Har!

Two to three fingers of single malt or good (better brands) blended Scot's Whisky in a heavy bottomed highball glass poured over one ice cube made from my well water (228' deep) which comes from the glaciers on Mt. Shasta. Fresher spring water you cannot get Emmet. It is simply frozen until the room temperature whisky hits it and then within a minute or so it is gone.

That same water is bottled by Dannon and others and sold throughout the world.

"Arizona Amy", I replied, shyly looking down at my feet. I felt the blood rush into my face and hoped he couldn't notice the pounding of my pulse over the music playing softly over the pub's juke box.
My God I thought, this is the handsomest man I have ever seen. I had to take several deep breaths before I could make myself meet his steady gaze.
Shamus asked, " How long will be here Amy"?
"Three weeks", I replied, now seeing the strong, sinewy hands as he picked up his glass as the bartender set it in front of him, and imagining them...

Up in the gorge is it? Windy I mean? A light breeze off Mt Shasta at thirty five mph seems like it might feel much the same, eh? Ever see rain falling sideways?
I sometimes wonder if it is much different living in Scotland as opposed to the Pacific NW high country as far as the weather is concerned anyway, does anyone know?

Amy, where have the others gone? Could they have fallen asleep? Fallen overboard? Perhaps they have fallen by the wayside? I hope that someone will come to our rescue soon don't you? Otherwise we might be forced to go it alone which is probably not the best idea don't you think? I want answers dammnit, don"t you? Can we handle the truth? Can we live with a lie? What lies will the lying liars tell when they come back to justify their absence? But if they are truthful will we wlcome them back into the fold? I ask only that I get some answers, is that too much of a request? Actually it may be, since this is not an answer line is it? What is the question?

Yes, I ordered it off the internet from britishfoods.com for last years Burns Day. I ate Haggis and drank single malt Scot Whisky (alone, since my wife was grossed out). I also had 'tatties and neeps as a side dish. She was good enough to prepare the side dish (from a recipe off the net) and the haggis was simple enough to steam by following the directions on the packaging.
I enjoyed it, but it was sooo expensive to order on the net due to the shipping costs that I won't do it again.
I may try some of the recipes you can find on the net and make my own next time.
Some of the 'mock" ones seem a little more civilized thumbs_up.gif

Poor Amy, ain't it awful that you have to drive to them? Wouldn't you like to step out the door and be in them like me? But when I lived in the Mojave Desert I used to say, "Why would anyone ever leave here?" The desert or the mountains or the sea coast, which is more beautiful? Hard to say isn't it? California has all three...why is there only one of me?

Take a look at www.publishamerica.com...They are an on demand publisher that will allow you to get a book into publication in limited quantities and help you with advertising and promotion. I know several authors who have published through them and were happy with the experience.
These days when everyone with a computer is writing a "book" it is quite difficult to get picked up by any major publisher unless you have a proven record. Even Stephen King had trouble in his early years.
There has been a big growth in the so called "self publishing houses" to meet the demand of the many people clamoring to get published.
Publish America seems to be sort of a cross between the two types of publishers, one being the traditional publishing houses where you have to be a known author or have an agent to get in the door and the other being the "vanity" publishers who will literally take anything and put it in print for a fee. A large fee at that.

I walked my dog in the mountains, is that what you mean by passing the day? I also worked out which will make me strong if it doesn't kill me first, right? What better way to spend a rainy and snowy afternoon than on this site listening to Celtic music and thinking pleasant thoughts of Scotland and the nice people I have met here on this site?

MiLady,
Have you ever lived there? You say HOME to Scotland in your post. If not have you visited? If so where? I am very interested in learning how to do a proper trip to the Highlands. Fly to Glasgow...take a train to Ft. William...Rent a car...where to stay... how much things cost... all that stuff. I can tell that my US money is only worth about half of what it is worth here. Reading about twenty dollar hamburger dinners sort of gets your attention. I welcome input from you and any others on the board.
Bob

By GREAT do you mean fun? Then I must ask, if yes is your answer, how would you like to have fun every day? Could retiring at a young age be the way to have a GREAT day every day? Can you see the living proof of my answer to your questions with my questions? Is meeting new friends on the net part of having a GREAT day? Is it fun? Is it interesting? Is it stimulatiing?
