What is the best way to start to learn the language, besides a computer program. are there classes to take to learn the language? is it really hard to learn or fairly easy?

Hi Sam,
I studied for a year or so and was starting to improve but in my case, learning a new language is difficult. I think it comes easier to those who have a mastery of their own language, perhaps someone who majored in English or studied other languages at an early age. That is not to say it can't be learned by those who didn't major in language, just that it will be more difficult to become fluent.
All that said, there are numerous resources available which I can supply.
I would start by deciding which dialect of Gaeilge you wish to learn. I studied the Ulster dialect because I just liked the way it sounds vs the Munster or Connacht dialects.
In another thread, I'm trying to get a little exercise going and if you are seriously wanting to learn, this might be a good starting point. In the meantime, I'll get a list of links together for you that will get you going in the right direction.
Slán go fóill (bye for now)
Robert

This site "is a via online language course"

From a FAQ information I got , " Gaeltalk is an online Irish language course
Based in the Gaeltacht areas of Ireland
