This past weekend I was exchanging emails with a member of Clan An Drumma. Apparently a lot of people on the web are hearing about Clan An Drumma through the Highlander Radio website. Because of this they are going to send us their ?Tried & True? album for the broadcast and also their new album that will be released in February. He didn?t tell us too much about the album, so we will be looking forward to it! Also, some news about the group: Their website has been down now for almost 2 months. Not sure of the details why, but it seems their agent in the U.S. (who ran the website) is no longer their agent. Not sure if you all saw the website before it went down, but it had a strange message that all CD orders to the agent for Clan An Drumma would be refunded. Not sure what is up with that. But in any event, their website will be up in running in a few weeks, so we will be looking forward to their new site!

<font color='#000000'>That is great news. With no agent in US, does that mean they won't be back to Michigan?</font>

Posted by: Macfive 13-Jan-2003, 08:08 AM
Oh, I wouldn't think so. Well I can not speak for them, by all accounts it did not sound like they were not going on tour. We will know more when their new website is up, perhaps they might have a schedule posted then!

Posted by: Cabbagehome 14-Jan-2003, 05:50 AM
<font color='#000000'>I hope so! I missed them last year because of prire comitments. What could have been promised before Saline? I had been counting the days for months and months. Well the local fair chose that day for 4H 5 to 8 year old members, to be judged. Well that was all but one, of my clubs membership.  The club is called our gang, but we could just as easy call them the cousins, as they are cousins to 2 of the boys, but not to any of the others. </font>

OOOO!  Tu-Bardh for Clann An Drumma.............Keep It Tribal posted. I'm so excited; I'm getting all mushy inside.  OH, I love those guys.

I do too.  They are coming to the Highland Games in GLasgow KY at the end of May and I will be there with belzon!

Posted by: Lyra Luminara 05-Jun-2004, 05:16 PM
They played at the Faery faire here in May. Unfortunately, I was around the corner selling shirts while they played in a barn sorta beside. It was still cool to hear though, the green man was moshing, it was funny.

Anybody love this band? Wow! I have been hearing them here and there on Highlander radio, but have recently been enjoying all their songs on their website and wow! I am in love! They are from Scotland and play a lot of traditional sound. Reminds me something like the ancient Picts of Scotland would have played. I love the mixture of the tribal drumming sound mixed with the pipes. Plus they have great voices too, although most of their songs are instrumentals. I would give anything to see this band LIVE, but they usually tour on the east coast of the states, you lucky dogs! tongue.gif If you like them too, what your favorite CD's or songs of theirs? I love "Tribal Eyes" CD and I love the song "Child of the Drum," but it sure would be difficult to choose as I love ALL their songs! Terrific musicians! thumbs_up.gif

I saw them last year at the Culloden, GA games and I thought they were awesome

Of course I like Clann An Drumma! biggrin.gif Its about time someone brings them up again.. smile.gif note.gif Go with the Tribal Waves CD!!!

Gwenlee! I know someone from this board who lives in GA and he saw them there too at the Culloden games last year! Wow! You two could have met each other! I hope he comes in here and finds this thread, in fact! Snuffy! Where are you? biggrin.gif

Rindy! I will probably end up buying all their CDs. I may get Tribal Eyes and Trival Waves to start off with though! Have you seen them LIVE?

Posted by: HeathBarkley 21-Feb-2005, 03:23 PM
I've seen Clan An Drumma for the last two years at the games in Murfreesboro, TN.
The first year I bought "Keep it Tribal" and the second year I bought "Tribal Eyes". I love the energy and the rhythm. I just discovered Celtic Radio today and have had it playing all day. I look forward to hearing Clan An Drumma as a featured artist. I think they are coming up Wednesday.

Heath

Posted by: CelticRose 21-Feb-2005, 04:52 PM
Well welcome to CR, Heath! Good to have you here and glad to know another CAD fan. You have gotten to see them in the last two years? Then you have seen them when they had old and new members then. I bought Tribal Eyes and Tribal Waves CDs. I can't wait to get them. CAD is coming up as featured artist on Wednesday here?! ohmy.gif I didn't know that! I hope that is what you meant.

Have you seen their tour schedule yet? I am hoping they will come out to my area out west some time soon. They seem to hang out on the east side of the states. Gotta change that and I am working on it! wink.gif biggrin.gif

Posted by: snuffy macsmiff 22-Feb-2005, 04:33 AM
Rose dear, you rang? Here ah be's...
Yer a-beginnin' ta sound just like a sheCAD fer sure (I warned ye, didn I?-LOL!) And if'n ye ever gets ta see 'em live-yer a goner! Just ask Gwen... you have got to get yer hiney over here and see 'em at least once(or twice!-LOL)

So Gwen, were you there by yerself or with someone else? Was that yer first CAD experience? I only wish I could have stayed for the jam session afterwards-I know I missed some great music-but I was so drained from the heat and all, ah wuz feelin' a bit prostrated-near 'bout heatstroked even. I've e-mailed the Culloden people to see if CAD'll be back this year-(I've even asked a CAD member too)-but gotten no response as of yet-(oh gawd please don' let it be so hot this year!!!) If they make it, I hope to see ya there!

Heath-from what I hear, all their albums are stunning. (is it possible to wear out CD's?) I've got Keep It Tribal, Tribal Eyes, and Tribal Waves(the live album). And I plan to aquire all the rest as soon as I make it to their very next gig...

Sweet Rindy is right-Tribal Waves, being a live show, is definitely one album to have. Have you seen 'em live? (love yer avatar too)

Sadly, Tu-bard and Davy have now left the group-it apparently happened shortly after Culloden. I tried to engage TB in conversation that day but he was in no mood. They shall both be missed-especially TB's oh-so-powerful visual presence. But from what I gather talkin' to their REALLY hard-core fans over on the forums at their website, the two new fellers(Aya and Kyle) have really taken up the slack. Or at least, they are very popular wid da lassies anyways...LOL!

As to this years shows, so far they have announced that they will be at Gatlinburg TN. May 20, 21, and 22. Glasgow KY on June 2, 3, 4, and 5. We're all hoping for them to make Loch Norman but it doesn't look like it'll happen. But, they will be at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games July 7,8,9, and 10! woo-HOO!!!! From what I hear, this is THE SHOW and you best be there or be square... Other dates are pending-I would love to catch 'em at Murfreesboro too(if they make it). Seems their fame is growing by leaps and bounds-as well it should be.

I'm actually thinkin' of buyin' a tent and becoming a bona-fide CADhead-I wanna follow them around from show to show just like the Deadheads follow the Grateful Dead around. I only wish I could make a show or two in Scotland! I could die happy fer sure.

So anybody else wanna join me in this adventure?

Nice to meet you Snuffy. I was at the Culloden Games with my family, and you were right it was so hot! I had forgotten how bad the humidity was below Atlanta. Give me the mountains any day. I'll be there again this year, it is being held the last week end day of April. I'll be at the Clan Donnachaidh tent so come on over and say hello. Hopefully with the event being held on that weekend there will be a better turn out, and it will be cooler. Last year it was held on graduation week end. I got hooked on CAD and so did my daughter. My husband enjoyed the Searsons that performed there. I'm not sure if CAD will be there this year. The last time I looked at the Culloden site it hadn't been updated. If I don't see them at Culloden I'll be at the Gatlinberg Games and see them there.

Posted by: CelticRose 22-Feb-2005, 04:08 PM
Hey there Snuffy! Yep! I am becoming a sheCAD! I would love to go to the Grandfather Mountain games. Used to live not too far from there too! Being surrounded by all these Georgia folks makes me miss Georgia so much. I lived there twice ya know, 14 years total! That Tu-Bard guy looked kind of rough anyway. I bet he could be moody...LOL

Rindy! Snuffy and I met on this site awhile back. He told me about Clann An Drumma then too, but it was you who really got me to listening to them all the more! I wish CR would play more of them too. sad.gif I tried to request them the other day, but I had to get off the computer and I am sure I missed my requested song. sad.gif

Gwen! You are going to the Gatlingburg Games?! Lucky you! You will see them there. Do you have any of their CDs?

Posted by: gwenlee 23-Feb-2005, 06:55 AM
I don't have any of their CD's, but I plan to pick up one or mabe two in gatlinberg. I have gotten on their site though and listened to the music I was going to get a CD last year but my husband won the draw and he got to choose so the girls from Canada.

Posted by: CelticRose 23-Feb-2005, 02:25 PM
Hey, gwen! You may run into Snuffy! I think he plans to be at the Gatlinburg games too. Are you going to dance there?

I saw that CAD is the Featured Artist today! Woo hoo! Though I haven't heard any of their music being played yet. sad.gif

Posted by: gwenlee 26-Feb-2005, 09:12 AM
I hope Snuffy will stop by if he is at the game. I think I'm going to be at quite a few games this year whether I'll be dancing or helping with the Donnachaidh tent. So If any of you are at the games in GA, AL, or TN this year stop by the Donnachaidh Tent and introduce yourself.

Posted by: Annabelle 26-Feb-2005, 12:19 PM
I live about 40 minutes from Culloden Ga.

Yep it's a nice outting!

Posted by: gwenlee 26-Feb-2005, 07:01 PM
Are you planning to attend the games this year Annabelle?

Posted by: CelticRose 27-Feb-2005, 01:50 AM
gwenlee, when I was at the Highland games today I saw your clan booth. Too bad you weren't there. sad.gif

Posted by: Annabelle 27-Feb-2005, 08:41 AM
April 30 is the Culloden Games. I should be good to go! Kat's wedding isn't for 2 more weeks so I'll probably be there

Any one else going?

Posted by: Annabelle 27-Feb-2005, 10:19 AM
Culloden and Savannah are both on the same weekend! Now that really stresses me, what to do?

Posted by: gwenlee 27-Feb-2005, 03:06 PM
Annabelle since you live close to Culloden and I'd like to meet you and yours I'd say come to Culloden. but if you are going to be in the Savannah area go to those games and stop by the Donnachaidh tent and send a message hello. Either way I think it will be hot-hot hot.

Yes, Mingkee! That is their radio station. You can listen to their music 24/7. I got to know their music really well by listening to that station and which CDs I wanted to order first. Enjoy!

Posted by: mingkee 27-Feb-2005, 04:25 PM
too bad is...
it requires EDGE or CDMA 1X connection to go mobile, or stays only at home

Posted by: gwenlee 09-Mar-2005, 07:53 AM
For those who don't know Clann an Drumma will be at Culloden Sunday only the week end of April 4/30-5/1. Then they will be at the Gatlinburg games 5/20-5/22.

Is there a website where a short sample of Clan an Drumma music is available. I'm not interested in "stealing their music", but I would like to hear them before buying one of their CDs. Many artisits provide short samples, usually a minute or less. I've been looking for one but without success so far. I actually tried to order a CD once, but never got the thing. From what I could tell, I wasn't charged for it though. I also was at a rennaisance fair in nortgern Va when they were supposed to play, but their performance was canceled due to bad weather or something.

Posted by: CelticRose 20-Mar-2005, 12:53 AM
Gwen, CAD is going to be at Culloden? I have not heard that yet. I need to contact Snuffy if they are. Thanks! thumbs_up.gif

Posted by: CelticRose 20-Mar-2005, 12:59 AM
Hi Jerry! Yes, there is a website where you can see their tour schedule and where you can listen to their music 24/7 so you can get an idea of what CDs you might like to buy. Good luck this time around. Also, request their music on Highlander radio here to hear their songs.

here is Clann An Drumma's website:

http://www.clannandrumma.com/

Posted by: gwenlee 20-Mar-2005, 07:14 AM
According to the Culloden site CAD will be there only on Sunday. But it isn't on their tour schedule.

Posted by: CelticRose 20-Mar-2005, 03:36 PM
Oh thanks gwenlee! I will check that out with the band members to make sure. wink.gif

I posted another article in this thread, where you can listen their music
100% Scottish Style!

Posted by: CelticRose 21-Mar-2005, 01:04 AM
Mingkee, don't you have to have a special set up on your computer to listen to it that way though? I just have internet explorer with dial-up...........the worse, eh?

I hear CAD better when I request their music on live 365 radio.

Posted by: mingkee 21-Mar-2005, 05:53 AM
the problem is...the stream is 96k, way farther than dial-up can handle
the only thing you can do is ask them to add 24k stream
and their stream had been down for a week about 3 weeks ago
for me, I can only listen the stream at home or connect to hotspot, GPRS can't handle the stream as well
there's no special setting required

Posted by: CelticRose 21-Mar-2005, 03:09 PM
Hmmm........I see. Well thanks for explaining that to me, Mingkee! Have you seen them live yet? I hear it is a real treat and better than on CD.

Posted by: mingkee 21-Mar-2005, 06:50 PM
I hope they'll have chance coming down to NYC

Posted by: CelticRose 23-Mar-2005, 05:57 PM
Mingkee! Did you see on their tour schedule that they are supposed to be in NY in April 6,7 and 11th? I am not sure how close their performances are to you.

Posted by: CelticRose 24-Mar-2005, 08:45 PM
Yippee! Clann An Drumma was the "featured artist" tonight on Highlander radio! Two hours of their music! Also, two of their songs are on the top 10 most requested! So exciting! Mingkee! I hope you heard it all!

As far as the Culloden games are concerned for this year, there was a notice on CAD's website today about the confusion. They WILL NOT be at Culloden, GA this year. Sorry folks.

Posted by: gwenlee 24-Mar-2005, 10:15 PM
Boo-hoo I too saw the notice on the CAD site. Oh well I guess I'll have to wait a month and see them in Gatlinburg.

Posted by: CelticRose 24-Mar-2005, 10:20 PM
I was hoping you would have seen that gwenlee!

BTW! Did you see your Happy Birthday messages in the birthday thread?! wink.gif Hope you had a great day!

Rindy, I can't believe you missed it! Highlander radio played them for 2 hours! It was great! Tried and True and Keep It Tribal CDs. That makes me wonder if MacFive has the other CDs or not. We gotta work on that one! wink.gif biggrin.gif

Yes RM, we will work on that! They will be in the states soon. Well lets hope they play much more of Clann an Drumma. Ask Macfive if he has them.

Barley Juice is on now I like them too.

Posted by: CelticRose 25-Mar-2005, 05:34 PM
Yes, I was thinking about asking him, but I know he is really busy right now. So maybe I will wait a few days, unless he sees this post and answers us himself. smile.gif

so far I have seen the CAD CDs on here when I make a request:

Tried and True
Keep It Tribal

I wonder if he also has the following:

Tribal Eyes
Tribal Vortx
Tribal Waves

wink.gif

If he doesn't he should have. I love the Tribal Waves all of the songs but the one I like the best is:Bonnie Blue- it would be hard to sing that one. I am not sure but now wouldn't be a good time to contact Chris either with tour now and the site change.

Btw, it scares me to death to think about flying over the pond too. Too much ocean between them and me! They must be used to it as they do it enough. Just wish that while they were out here they would make it out west.

The show was great as ever. The first day it was called Clann An Drumma light. Joe Jacquie and Donnie got pass customs in Toronto ok. That Left Kyle, Aya and Jamsie. They didn't get through. I really don't know why though. It was kind of quite with out them but the show went on. They made up for it the rest of the weekend. Oh yeah they had Gunnar up on the stage with them. He will make a wonderful drummer when he grows up. He is only 7 yrs. old Just a cutie.

My Husband has made boots for all of them. Except Donnie. He has also made their Ghillies. I maybe prejudice, but I think he does a fine job. biggrin.gif

It rained on Thurs. But he rest of the weekend was beautiful weather.Thank Goodness we bought a tarp before we went up on the mountain. We covered the tent with the tarp.

We met a lot of wonderful people while there. We are planning on going next year also.

I am glad you made it home safe and sound. I am happy that you had a good time. Just the three of them huh? Yes, just the three of them would of been different. Kind of like without Joe huh? I bet you hate to see it over. I think Gunner is a cutie- His father makes nice pendants too I was looking at the Ghillies nice! Take care-

Have you seen the article about the group in Fairie Magazine yet? Great article and pictures.

Posted by: CelticRose 25-Jul-2005, 05:20 PM
Hey CAD fans!

Yeah, Cynni! I got my Faerie magazine the other day. Really awesome pics and article of CAD.

Hey Amy! You and me blasting CAD in Arizona! Hee hee! I don't think they plan to come out here so I am going to try to fly out there next year and see them. I have family in GA so whereever the closest they are playing to that state is where I will be. That's the plan anyway.

Rindy, I got my berserker pendant and just love it. I think I want a longer cord for it though. unsure.gif I may write Wodan and see if I can get one from him.

Posted by: Rindy1202 26-Jul-2005, 02:06 PM
Hello everyone.. Isn't that faerie article something?? That is just a wonderful magazine all together.

Celtic Rose, I am so happy you like your pendant- I may ask him for a longer cord as the one I bought is smaller but that is a great idea thank you..not sure how to do the ends though. Is your just like mine then? I am really enjoying my CD's. thumbs_up.gif

Hey, if you had to pick two songs that were your favorite that CAD does what would they be??? Oh so many to choose from..

Mine would be:

Bonnie Blue
Sgt. Mackenzie

Slainte smile.gif

Those Beserker Pendant are really Beautiful. Wodan does such great work on them. thumbs_up.gif My Husband has a Thor's Hammer that Wodan made. He never takes it off.

My Two Favorite songs by CAD are SGT. Mackenzie and Banners.

My brother-in-law wants SGT. Mackenzie played at his fathers funeral. I am sure they will do it.

Well everybody have a great day today.

Posted by: CelticRose 30-Jul-2005, 05:12 AM
Hey Cynni and Rindy! If I had to choose two songs I would say Banners and Bonnie Blue. I love those two songs, but then again I can't really stop there.

I love my pendant that Wodan made for me. I will have to change my profile pic of me so you can kind of see it. It is so wonderful!

Cynni, did you get a pendant too? I got one just like Rindy's.

Celtic Rose Yes I did get one. It was like My husband and Wodan did some bartering and that is how I got mine. I just love it when he barters. I can get some really cool stuff. biggrin.gif

Cynni! I got one just like Rindy's. Don't know if you saw hers or not. Really beautiful though. I think I would like a longer cord though. I may ask Wodan if I can get one.

Did you get the Faerie magazine?

Posted by: cynni 30-Jul-2005, 06:18 AM
I have not seen Rindy's . But i bet is beautiful. Wodan does great work. He was telling Jmack how he makes them. I would like to see it done sometime!!
I did get my Faerie magazine. Wonderful article. I am thinking of getting a subscription to it. But I have to get a job first. sad.gif

Hi, according to the faerie magazine they are going to have a couple of new CD's out. I am trying to find out what I can on this one. I am hoping to find out something on this soon.. Cynni, I loved the magazine so well I did subscribe. Now your hubby makes moccasins right? Was reading on the pendants cynni which one do you have? DR- how do you like yours? I like my silver one better than my bronze one...

Have a great day!

Yes my husband does make moccasins. He also make Ghillies and boots. We are now working on a pair of boots for Jamsie. The boots were put on hold due to my father in laws death. He has made boots for the whole band except Donnie. Have not been able to talk him into boots yet.
I have the silver pendant. I just love it.

Yes, I rember now.. There are pictures of those new moccasins on the other site. Now I am going to have to pay attention to see what shoes Donnie is wearing..I noticed the new ones right away they are really nice....

I really like my silver pendant. I have a small beserker bronze one which is nice too but the silver one is fantastic.. I wish I could afford the gold. May be someday.
Hope Wendy is all rested up...lol doesn't sound like anything could slow her down. She is so nice...

Wendy is well rested. She is helping out on vacation bible school this week.

Hey cynni and Rindy! I LOVE my silver pendant. Got it on right now as a matter of fact. I read in the faerie magazine where at least two new CDs were coming out. That would be exciting! Cynni, I didn't realize it was your husband who made the boots for the band. They look awesome! What are ghillies, btw? unsure.gif

Hi Celtic Rose & Cynni and anyone else out here.. I am anxious about the two new CD's-that will be wonderful with the new band members Aya & Kyle.. I know I am going to miss the sounds of Davy and Tu.. sad.gif

CR- I asked the same question- I had never heard of them either..I will let Cynni tell ya that one..What did you think of the magazine and the photos and the article..?

Well with the end of the tour coming up the band is going to be swamped..I wish them all the luck- I just wish they were touring out west..someday may be.

. They look kinda of like fingers wrapped around the toes with laces. They can either be like a high boot like Jacquie"s of like the guys and around the ankle. Thsi is what the dictionary said ." light shoe with long laces: a low-cut tongueless shoe that laces across the foot and sometimes up the ankle"
sorry I didn't get back sooner but I went with my l husband in the truck. Went out to Kansas City, Kansas then to Lancaster Pa. biggrin.gif Had a great time. Wendy leaves with him Sun.

Hey guys...can you direct me to the magazine you all are talking about? It sounds like something I should have too...can I find it online or go to the bookstore? I would have to think about my fav CAD songs...I do like the 3 you've mentioned but I am a sucker for pipes the kind that is loud and makes you tap your toes but also a lamentful sound as well...I'll check back in with a couple other favs...putting them on right now!

Yes You can either order it on line or you can get it at Borders. That is where I got mine at. It is called "Faerie Magazine". It is a cool magazine. Alot of people from the ClannAnDrumma Forum ordered on line. It might be sold out. I am not sure though. I hope not. Good luck. thumbs_up.gif

Thanks cynni
I am on the way to Borders later today so I will look there. I decided to play my CAD cds while my daughter was at soccer practice. SO, while I was scurrying around for shade, I kept my ears busy...I think my fav CAD cd would be Tribal Vortex...but I have fav songs on all of them...so hard to choose!

Thanks Cynni for the explanation. I have never heard of them, but I am sure I have seen them many times like maybe at the games or at Ren fests.....maybe?

Where is it that everyone is going to this weekend? I am a little confused on that. Is it a CAD gig?

Amy, hope you find one at borders. If not, the website is this

www.faerieworlds.com

You can just order the summer issue, but I promise you you will want to subscribe to the magazine. It is just too cool. If they are sold out of the summer, I will show you my magazine when I see you next month. Let me know.

I thought the article and photos in there were excellent of CAD too. Learned some things about the guys I didn't know and hopefully it is true about the new CDs.

I have them all now but my favorite still remains to be Trival Waves. rolleyes.gif

You will see alot of Gillies at the highland games and at ren fest also.
They had an article in a local paper about this woman that makes them also. She said that hers are all hand made. She uses a sewing machine. Where as my husband even sews them by hand.
I helped sew on Jamesie while I went with him out in the truck. They will defineatley be done this weekend. Jamesie will be so happy. His are boots though.
Have happy weekend !

Was wondering are you going to Scotland or shipping Jamesies boots? I am confused here. Thats me...LOL laugh.gif May be your waiting until September? I hope your going to that one-. Thanks cynni! May I ask do you use a thimble? I know leather can be tough..How did you and your hubby get involved in making moccasins?

Are you going to be at the Sept. games in New Hampshire?

My husband started with the leather things. He has made everybody Like an indian moccasins first. Then one time we went to renisance fair in OH. He saw some boots.Watched how they made the molding of the peoples feet and leg. We could not afford them so he tried himself. they wanted over $600.00. He does a great job If I say so. But I might be a little prejudice.
He has also made a shield. a backstrap for his sword. he really enjoys doing it.
No I do not use a thimble. If I can't get the needle through I use plyers. Easier to pull through.

No more games this year. N.H. to far away. If any probably Pa.

Very interesting cynni! I think he does a great job too! Over $600.00 then wow...funny when I think of your hubby I think of the pic where he is sewing- its a great picture..don't remember where I saw it..LOL! That moccasin class I talked about on CAD they only gave you enough leather to make one. Whats up with that? We sat through the blazin heat to make one moccasin..
Plyers "yes me saying to self" we are in the year 2000's.. laugh.gif

Sorry to hear you won't be going to NH.. I wish I were able to make the Edinburgh ones...someday...
You and yours have a really good day...

The indian mocassins were just for the family. No body else has asked for them.
Made his boots for when he rides his Harley. Which isn't to often cause he spends most of his time in the truck. He has had them I would say about 3 years think.
He made all CAD members gillies. Then he has made the boots for them also.
If I had to take a class I think I would of had to use a lot more than what they gave you.
Take care.

We can always try something like - "Officer, I am really sorry for my speeding, erratic driving or whatever...because you see I am listening to CAD right now...and as you can see it does increase blood flow, causes continuous foot-stomping, the occasional shout and so on...so...if I promise to only listen to CAD at home would you consider letting me go?" Or something like that. My kids like them too...the little ones that is...my big girls just continue to roll their eyeballs when they hear the pipes start up...

Posted by: cynni 11-Aug-2005, 07:47 PM
I will have to try that if I ever do get stopped.
All of my Kids listen to CAD.Even my oldest son. He is 26. Just loves them he heard them live for the first time in FT.Wayne this year. He bought 3 of their CD'S. I think even one of their hats.

Well, maybe we should give it a try eh? My son thinks CAD is cool because he equaits anyone playing drums or pipes & wearing a kilt with the old days and thinks they should all have weapons on them. Can you tell he would like me to give him a dirk? My little ones are pretty good at knowing who I am listening too...especially if my foot is stomping while I am cooking dinner. I guess you could say they are...tribalized...my son also wants boots...he really thinks he should have been born YEARS ago...(that is what comes from watching the LOTR series...and attending Highland Games!!) He came to me yesterday & told me he would wear a kilt for Halloween if it also came with a sword...so...we'll see...you guys have a great weekend!

Posted by: cynni 12-Aug-2005, 02:42 PM
When our youngest was in 8th grade. The School had a day for your heritage. He wore his fathers kilt and ghillies to school. He had one teacher that had threatened him about disrupting the class. He asked him how? The teacher replied because you are not with in the dress code. Ian told him that is what his ancestors wore. That was the end of the subject. But he called me. cause the kilt was starting to fall off. Some of the teachers their just don't know what to they are doing.
He now has his own kilt. it is a great kilt that he has. My husband has 2 and my daughter has a mini kilt. Me not yet. I will have one some day. I do have 2 special dresses that I wear.

Hi cynni that is interesting about what happened with your son when he dressed in kilt at school. When you think about how we are taught to be tolerant of other cultures YET when your son came to school dressed in his traditional clothing (a reflection of his heritage) he was worried over by his teachers. I find that rather interesting... My children have a 'heritage day' at their school and they do in fact have children from all over the world there - so I wonder how it would be taken if he'd come dressed in kilt. Although all his teachers all know that I was in Scotland last year and of my love of it...still...would be interesting....I guess you son must have really nice legs if just him being dressed in a kilt was a 'disruption'...just goes to show...women love a man in a kilt even if it is a young woman and a young man!! Must have been someone offering to be an 'official kilt checker' ha ha biggrin.gif

Loved the article. It is sad sad.gif that they are not as well known there as they are here. But it seems like that is the way it is with most groups. Joe even admitted to it they were not known there. I guess we will just have to keep them here in the states. We all love them here.

I think they are just as well known as they need to be. Call me selfish but if hey get too well known we might not get hem here in the United States as often as we do. That would be tragic sadwalk.gif

CR,
Yes I think the times you are going to do allow Gillies. They make kits to make your own Gillies and are fairly easy to make...the expense? It depends on the quality you are looking for... I have made several for friends in the past from scratch and even those are not difficult to make but the price can go high for custom made.

Posted by: Rindy 05-Sep-2005, 08:41 PM
CR- I figured you wouldn't want to have seen that video with dial up.. I am glad you changed your mind.. Did you get it of Sir David walking in and doing the speech? I thought that was fantastic..
Kind of funny seeing who everyone is over here and someone different on CAD- as long as we are amongst friends is all that matters..
Its great to see you all here and there-and everywhere small world sometimes..

I am thinking hard on these ghillies.. I an wantin a pair really bad-but not sure where I would wear them...they are beautiful.....nice work..

My oldest son wears his ghillies almost everywhere. Jmack wears his mostly to renaissance fairs, highland games and to the re-enactments that we go to. They say it is like going barefoot. I don't know cause I don't have a pair yet. I just have moccasins. Just like the wife to be last. LOL

Hi Gray! Yes! I was able to see it. Because I have dial up it only took 2 hours to download! laugh.gif

Oh my goodness! You were there and you missed those wonderful events! Oh well, I am sure you have other wonderful memories to hold onto and you just can't do everything, ya know?

Two Hours!! Oh dear, with the time you spend on the net would it not be worth going for Broadband? Is it available in your area?

My download took only 10 minutes, and mine is not the fastest Broadband either.

Hi cynni- well I will think about it.. I was reading somewhere on the web and they spelled them gillies..I was also reading how you put a kilt on. That in itself is amazing..

Hey Shadows! I was waiting to hear from a lady in England who does the same Scottish reenactments I do and she said that is what they were are the ghillies. The problem is is that we also do the RevWar and I don't think they are acceptablel for that. Since I have a RevWar event coming up first, I may have to fork out first for those shoes and then the ghillies. And yes, I have seen the patterns, but too chicken to do it myself. unsure.gif Thanks, Shadows!

Amy and Tassie. In our area we are getting broadband and high speed internet, whatever you choose to call it. However, it is VERY expensive here. Amy, we have satellite television, don't care for Cox. But it's no big deal. The only time we really suffer is for certain things like the CAD download. I saw most of the concert and then my computer crashed! ohmy.gif So I missed the dang speech! Oh well. cool.gif

Cynni, I am thinking seriously of getting some ghillies anyway as I will be participating more in the Scottish reenactments more than anything. And seeing I love going barefoot, they sound like the shoes for me anyway! wink.gif

Glad you enjoyed watching the CAD video. What I saw of it was excellent!

For Rev War you can get by with mocs, some of the Scots also wore Gillies! Look a little further in your research and I think you will see.

My avatar are Joe's boots. I wish I had a pic of Jamsie's boots. Needless to say I don't. Unless I can get one of the shecads to take a pic of them while in NH.
Sorry to say we are not going to NC. I sure wish we could, But cannot afford it. I have been out looking for a job. sad.gif But have not found one yet.
The concert is being CAD lite right now. Jaquie and Joe are not in the states from what I have noticed on the CAD forum.
You will get them out your way one day SOON.

Cynni, I wish you all the luck in finding a new job.. Please keep us posted..

Well...it is either somehow we get CAD to the West or the three of us make a road trip to the East and catch a Highland Game or Celitc Festival there! Looks like we may have no choice! I hope we have a new band or two at our Mesa Games but it looks as though we might not! I did hear from Marc Gunn of the Brobdingnagian Bards that they are trying to get to the AZ Ren Faire....so...until the Games in Flagstaff when I can see our Wicked lads....I'll just have to keep going to that video of CAD at the Wallace memorial....it is good enough for now though! Good luck cynni with the job hunt, I've been doing a little searching of my own but nothing seems to fit right with my wacky life...welp they do say there is something for everyone so...we'll both keep looking! CR and Rindy - how are you two? Got your snow yet Rindy? Our temps are coming down just a skinch...so...we are pretending it is Fall but yesterday at the soccer game, it was still 106F....ahh well....Keeping it Tribal...and hot too!

Hey there, anhrefn! Interesting username you got there! Welcome to our obession, CAD! I am so glad you get to see them. I think that me, Amy and Rindy ought to take a trip back east as I don't ever forsee this band coming out west! sad.gif anyway, have fun! and yes they still make disposable cameras cause I just bought one the other day! I heard they do pretty well! Share your pics with us too!

Amy! My re-enactment commander is one of the organizers for the Mesa Games. He told me a couple weeks ago that the same ole guys will be there next year as well....Alex Beaton and Alisdair Fraser...............boring! I told him about Wicked Tinkers and CAD and he said they were too loud for everybody! Can you believe that? I am shocked by hearing who is going to be at our AZ RenFest as I contacted them to get CAD there and they told me they were not interested..............the everlasting nerve!

Hey Cynni! How are you doing? I am so excited about my ghillies! Yay!

Rindy, Joe and Jacque are not here in the states? Oh my! How so very sad. I can understand Jacquie but why is Joe not here? Does anyone know? unsure.gif

celtic rose - do you speak welsh? or do you find 'anhrefn' interesting for some other reason?
i'll definitely post pictures. i hope i get some good ones... disposable cameras - they don't make 'em with adjustable focus or anything like that, do they?
i'm so glad i get to see 'em, too!

Posted by: CelticRose 08-Oct-2005, 07:39 AM
Hey there anhrefn! No I don't speak Welsh, but I do know folks who do. But I was just being really nosy and wondering what your username meant is all. Was wondering how to pronounce it as I love languages too! Forgive me if I sounded intrusive. unsure.gif

About the disposable cameras. Well they focus automatically so you don't have to worry about that. Gosh! I am so jealous and yet happy for you to get to see CAD! I really do love this band. They are some of the best drummers around........but then I am major Wicked Tinkers fan too. I think Aaron Shaw, the piper, is the best in the world! smile.gif Just my not so humble opinion! biggrin.gif

Posted by: anhrefn 08-Oct-2005, 12:44 PM
nah, you didn't sound intrusive smile.gif it's pronounced (basically) ahn hrev n and it means anarchy.

and just to let folks know, the other bands that're playing at the jam are: gael warning, androssan, celtic connection and renee henry.

woo hoo!!!

Posted by: CelticRose 09-Oct-2005, 06:08 PM
Many thanks, anhrefn for the translation and prenounciation. smile.gif As I said, I have several friends who speak Welsh. I have a really hard time with that launguage. Have tried to learn Scots Gaelic instead, but that is rough too! unsure.gif Where I live, I should be relearning my Spanish! laugh.gif

I talked with Joe and he told me to go ahead and post this article out of Faerie Magazine: Its a very nice interview with the band.

From Joe..."I would like to thank Faerie Magazine for giving us the opportunity to say Hi to everyone. I'm Joe Kilna MacKenzie.
Having been a drummer for many years, it is a real pleasure to be able to play to so many, spread all over the world. There is nothing more satisfying than to watch our audiences enjoy themselves at our gigs. We constantly tour and try our best to keep the energy flowing. Sometimes it is not so easy, say, after a long flight and then a longer drive but as soon as the buzz from the crowd forms we go at it like berserkers. At the moment I am working on three new CD's and preparing for whatever the future holds for us. As always, look forward to keeping it tribal. One of my goals is to open a historical village where the true history of Scotland can be told and where people can meet to enjoy this country that I love so much. Until we meet again, Slainte Joe

From Kyle... "I joined the band a year ago and play conga drums. Having been involved in music and dance since the age of four I have always enjoyed performing, traveling to new places and meeting new friends. For ten years I studied highland dancing and at the age of 14 I joined a pipe band to learn side drum. I kept that up for three years and was given the chance to become the bands drum major which lasted one and a half years. I had not played for a while when the chance to join Clann an Drumma arrived at my door and the rest as they say, is history. "

From Donnie...
"Alright out there, I'm Donnie, piper with clann an Drumma. I have been with the band for six years now and I can say that it has given me the opportunity to go to places that I never imagined. America, Spain, Russia, France, Germany, Korea, Norway, Italy and Holland to name just a few. It has been a blast, I love to see people smile when we perform and an added bonus is meeting so many great characters. I hope to see lots more on my travels and look forward to the years ahead with Clann an Drumma.

From Jacquie...
"For those of you who do not know me, I'm a drummer, singer and percussionist with the band. Being the only girl in the group and having traveled all over the world with these guys. I have to say I've gained an interesting insight into the world of men and had a lot of laughs along the way! When we started the band nearly six years ago, I don't think I anticipated just how far and wide the music would go, but it has been a wonderful adventure so far! For me, freedom of expression is important. Being able to have that hand show it through our work, makes me appreciate what we do. Our music, history and culture is what I love and it defines who I am."

From Jamesie...

"I've been drumming with the band for about five years now. What I like to think I bring to the line up is energetic and aggressive drumming. For me, it's like entering a zone when we play, like sinking back into your inner self and letting your feelings come to the surface. Now those could be feelings of happiness or rage...different days, different feelings!"

From Aya

"Being part of Clann an Drumma has been a really amazing experience for me. It's given me the opportunity to see a lot of the world and make some good friends. The real pleasure I get from being in the band, is when we are on stage performing and I look out into the audience and see all those smiling faces. It makes me happy to think I am part of something that brings joy and happiness into peoples lives. I feel very lucky to be in this position."

I have heard that alot of people have trouble getting there magazine.
I think it would be awesome to go to Joe's historical village when he gets it going. Save money for trip to Scotland. My husband has always wanted to go there. He started talking about that when we first got married.

Hi cynni, your welcome. You might of seen it already..Now if I can update a picture and get Macfive a newer cd-I will be happy.. tongue.gif I had no trouble getting my magazine I think they just had no idea of volume that Clann An Drumma would generate.
The magazine is well worth the subscription.

I would make a point of going to Scotland to see Joes museum. I think that is a wonderful idea..
I hope you guys get to go over there..

Can't wait for the new CD's either..

Hi guys...I just had to post this here as I knew you all would appreciate it...this is what I posted on CAD tonight:

Hi all...I just had to share this one!

Tonight my son (just turned 9yrs) told his sister she could NOT be a drummer as 'girls don't drum' he said in his many years of wisdom. His sister (almost 8yrs) then told him..."I can if I want to" then she came & told me. I had heard the whole thing already and had a thought... I brought them both in to the puter...pulled up the CAD Wallace clip and told them...Remember CAD that we always listen to? They both nodded their heads. Then I played the clip for them...pointing out JACQUIE to them both. My daughter had a large grin on her face and my son said..."Huh, I guess girls can drum."

Apparently, I had never mentioned that there was a 'girl' in CAD and now my daughter has proof that girls can drum. SO they are both now...tapping their sticks on his practice pad! I suppose I should have asked her too if she wanted lessons!

The sexes have equalized in my home again!!!

Thanks Jacquie - on behalf of my daughter and for teaching my son another valuable lesson on 'the things a girl CAN do'

Leave it to kids!!
They are Tribal-ized!!

Posted by: CelticRose 14-Oct-2005, 05:43 PM
Hey! Way cool! Amy! And yes, it is true that male and female can be drummers and be awesome at it! CAD's female drummer, Jacquie, has been an inspiration to me and wished I had discovered her many years sooner or I would have been one. Oh well! I can celebrate with her, eh? And enjoy the CDs in the meantime!

My daughter and I met Clann An Drumma in glasgow, KY. My daughter is six and has every thing from their photos to their cd's I am just lucky that Clann An Drumma has brought my daughter such joy. Thank goodness that we can agree on what good music really is. The music comes from their souls, and they really put a peice of themselves into each beat they play, and heart into every note they sing. Seeing them in concert is amazing. It is as if the music lifts you to dance, before you know it your on your feet. I can't say enough about celtic music in general. Clann An Drumma just takes the love of the music to the next level. And of course it doesn't hurt that they are all so dang cute! And Jacque is so beautiful. And they are all truely loved by my daughter, wonderful people they are.

This is great! Here's more proof for your daughter (and as it happens, this woman is Scottish):
http://www.sbgmusic.com/html/teacher/reference/performers/glennie.html

I agree with everything everyone is saying about this band. I have had "St. MacKenzie" on my list of favorites to request from the very beginning, and I will never take it away. They have that kind of connection with the soul roots no matter what they do.

And they do get the feet going!

Celtic_one, I think it's wonderful that your little girl is such a devoted follower of this band, as well as having such an ear for the things that really matter (roots, soul, excellent musicianship). I bet they'd love to hear from her -- it's the next generation coming up that make the most terrific fans. smile.gif

Posted by: ArizonaAmy9 18-Oct-2005, 10:15 AM
biggrin.gif Thanks stoirmeil - I've marked her site as a fav & will share with my little guys when they get home. My son & daughter are only a year apart & so do most things together - normally very equally. But every now & then my son will say..."KiAnna, you can't do that....you're a girl!" He must learn THAT at school. Seeing as how his older sister is the number 1 ranked goal keeper in the state of AZ in her age group...he should know to never utter that phrase! So it was really fun to show them that CAD video. It never even crossed my mind to say...hey guys...one of their drummers is a woman even though they'd heard her sing...just didn't know she had a pair of sticks too....but it has stuck with them now!

Funny how when so many people hear their music & from so many different places that we all come away with the same feelings....music that comes from the soul that speaks to another soul! That must be one of the greatest feelings to a muscian. I sure hope we (you know who we are!!) get to see them live one of these days ourselves...it does appear though that the only way will be a long road trip!!

Have a great day everyone!

Well hello to all the new people on this thread and forum! Nice to share our love for CAD with one another, eh?

Just had to share. I received my Faerie magazine the other day and saw the write-up responses from CAD in there. How so nice of the band members to do that. I also saw where Joe said they were working on 3 new CDs?! wow! How exciting for us!

The other bit of good news for me was to see that the Faerie magazine is now the U.S. distributer for their CDs. Yay! thumbs_up.gif

Y'all keep it Tribal!

Posted by: Rindy 22-Oct-2005, 03:56 PM
Its good to see you Celtic Rose..

I am glad you finally got your magazine.. Mine must of got caught in the machine the plastic was gone off of it and it was bent in half but it doesn't really bother anything..just creased a bit..

I was glad to here that they were carrying the cds also..Some people are leary due to them not getting a magazine right away. I don't think Faerie Magazine had any idea of the volume that Clann An Drumma would create..

I too was happy to hear of the 3 CD! Now to get Macfive some of the newer music we will be set here..

Slainte smile.gif

Posted by: CelticRose 22-Oct-2005, 04:21 PM
Hey Rindy! Does MacFive not have all of CAD's CDs here yet? I meant to follow-up on that but dropped the ball. OOPs.

I bet Faerie mag will do well in shipping out their CDs. But I bet you're right. I bet they had no idea what they're in for! LOL

Posted by: Rindy 22-Oct-2005, 04:39 PM
Hi CR,

no Macfive doesn't. I was told a couple of weekes ago the Joe was working on getting him some.. Hopefully it will come sooner than soon!

Hi everyone! I thought I would post news of this before rumors start flying. I took this off the website its the beginning of a new Clann An Drumma and the start of another wonderful band to come..

For those of you who are not already aware, sadly we have to inform you that Clann An Drumma as you all know them are no longer together. After 5 long years, it seems the stress and pressure of it all has got a little too much and the band have decided to part company.

We have seen a lot of change in the band over the past few years with some members departing, and new members joining. This is no different , Clann An Drumma WILL indeed continue for many more years to come !

Joe has been auditioning new band members, and has a great line which we will be revealing to you in around a week or so. The new Clann An Drumma will of course continue to play all of the old tunes, as well as some exciting new material, which will be released on the next CD which is coming shortly.

A message from Joe:

"As for Clann An Drumma, I started this as something I felt I had to do and have been fortunate that my music has been enjoyed by so many. I have auditioned some new and some old faces and can I tell you, wait untill you hear this sound !

So, strange as it might seem, I am looking forward to this next step in Clann An Drummas journey. I will be popping on to the site every day and will gladly answer any questions you have. Slainte, Joe - Clann An Drumma !"

Slainte smile.gif

Rindy, I am looking forward to Joe's new line up as well as what the new formation of the "Albannach" (Jamesie, Kyle, Aya, Donnie, and Jacquie) have to offer. Clann An Drumma means a great deal to Joe and I have every confidence he will find outstanding people for the job.

Posted by: Rindy 03-Nov-2005, 08:20 AM
Nolika I too am confident in Joe and the new Clann An Drumma. Infact I think it is exciting..

Two bands are better than one..LOL biggrin.gif

Here is a update from Joe Mackenzie this morning..

hey guys , heres a wee update, everything is going well you have to understand that it does take a wee bit of time to replace a full band and rehearse it as well but this weekend i will be posting pics and bios of the new lineup, and will be in the studio next week recording a new cd hopefully released for xmas, have been commisioned for music for a documentary and have other exiting stuff on the way

Y'all will probably think I am weird, but I had an odd feeling for a quite awhile that there was something brewing in the pot of this band's possible break-up. I don't know how to explain it but I just rather felt it. Being a daughter of a professional musician I saw it happen many times and while sad at the time, good things always comes out of it at the end. I am sad to see it happen to CAD but hope we get two great bands out of one. I am sure good things are in store for us in the future! thumbs_up.gif

To be continued, eh?

I had this feeling also. Just by the way the band had been acting at gfm. They just didn't stick together like they had in the past. Kind of like when Tu and Davey left.
Tu-bard was just kind of by himself. During the show at Glasgow. So sad that things like this happen. But I guess that is what like is about. You just have to move on.
Well now we just have to see what the 2 bands are like. I will love both bands. thumbs_up.gif

Here is the latest update from Joe Mackenzie -its getting close....

no, you have me all confused, you are posting are you not???

oh, no offense, but is there a way to stop people saying Slainte at the end of a message?

It's NOT Scottish Gaelic, it's not even Irish or any other Celtic language to say it as a good bye term. Slainte is just used as a toast, and only used on that occasion. Yes, it's translates to cheers but as cheers as in prost, a votre santee, nasdadownje, ... when raising a glass. It's NOT as Cheers as in Good Bye!

Slŕinte means to good health, it's the past participle of slŕn. Slŕn le, is an informal term for good bye (health with you), or you can say beannachd, blessings, or mar sin leat, or just tioraidh which happens to be the Gaelicized version of Cheers (pronounced as such), okay???

Rindy: I agree with you on the Slainte. My husband has used it for years also.
Joe Kilna Mckenzie uses it also. I don't see anything wrong with it. If Maddie don't like it, Then just ignore it. To each their own.

Posted by: Rindy 19-Dec-2005, 09:33 AM
Hi cynni- yes, a lot of people use it.. Hope your ready for Christmas.. Speaking of Joe....

Ok, there are some new pictures of the line up on www.clannandrumma site. and Joe said I could post this: the update of what is going on.

That is very interesting your explanation of the proper usage of slainte. I have a welcome plaque with slainte (and a wee leprachaun) on it that hangs at my front door. I appreciate your precise meaning of it but I think it may be like lots of words that it has evolved to mean something more and the real purpose of all language is communication. I know you might say "Cheers" to someone in parting as a kind of toast or send-off just like folks say "slainte". Anyway, I hope that all who read it or see it at my door know that I am in essence sending out wishes to them for their good health and happiness.

p.s. I see there is another Annabelle here (guess I should have registered as Rebecca)

Rebecca, don't get me wrong on this, I appreciate your comments and views.

Most Gaels are very polite but a very closed community. Scottish Gaels are extremely sensitive about their traditions, culture, and language. In 1500 years of written history Slainte was never being used for a welcome or good bye and most likely never in the 2000 years before. Obviously it was created by the post-emigration generations in the US, confusing the Irish (but it's used in Scottish Gaelic too) slan leat or slan leibh with slainte. Probably te grandmother remembered something being said as a good bye and as it sounds similar to what's that as a toast the myth of Slainte was being created.

it's interesting for me to see that a slainte community has developed, taking myths and hearsay migrating bits of heritage and happily marrying them with movies and tv shows into an American Celtic culture without any basic research.

hey I just created a new term! biggrin.gif

So anyway! Stay happy and safe and enjoy your wee leprechaun who wishes you health! Though little leprechaun would be better to be caught in an attempt to get his WEALTH (and not Health) and is thus another perfect example.

Nollaig chridheil dhuibh.

Hello everyone!

On the Sláinte issue, my Irish dictionary gives this definition:

Sláinte - f4 health, (drink) toast

meaning that it is the 4th type of declention for the noun slán (health), and that it is also used as a toast.

I see no problem with Rindy using this word as her signature. There is nothing offesive or bad about it. With all of the bad things that we Mods have to watch out for, I am not going to concern myself over someone using a sig that is usually used as a toast! There is nothing sexual, sexist, racist or anything else about it, so Rindy - use it with pride if you like. That's your choice.

Maddy, I'm truly sorry if you find the term offensive, but, regardless of whether or not the word is being properly used in this context, Rindy -and all of the rest of us for that matter - has the right to use whatever she wants as her sig as long as its not vulgar or rude. I hope you can understand that.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Allen

Hello everyone!

On the Sláinte issue, my Irish dictionary gives this definition:

Sláinte - f4 health, (drink) toast

meaning that it is the 4th type of declention for the noun slán (health), and that it is also used as a toast.

I see no problem with Rindy using this word as her signature. There is nothing offesive or bad about it. Well, you beat me because I come on again to delete my post. I am aware that many people are not interested in that matter anyawy.

First of: I didn't mention Rindy with one single word
secondly: What makes you think I am offended?

My big mistake is that I think people are like me, curious and eager to learn. If I use slainte in the wrong context and somebody would explain it to me, I would appreciate the learning opportunity. Probably felt a little stupid as I failed to research properly, but would appreciate the learning nonetheless.

I am sorry if somebody feels offended by my offer to help. I will humbly retreat.

Maddie, I'm sorry if my post sounded abrupt, it was not meant to. I apologize if you thought I was being rough with you. I just wanted to clear up some conderns that were expressed to me in a pm. No need to retreat, okay? We're still all friends here! biggrin.gif

Okay, nuff said on this! biggrin.gif Let's get back to talking about CAD!

There will be a couple of new band members still to add I am currently trying to decide from about six other people who will eventually become part of the new line up. Anyway Clann An Drumma continues as always and we have an exiting year ahead of us lots of countries to visit and lots of film work too so keep your eyes open ,slainte joe.

With James and Clann An Drummas permission I added some photos of them playing at Hogmanay 2005/2006. They are at the entrance gate to George Square, Glasgow
The attendance was around 25,000.

You can find these pictures in the Concert Photos in the Photo Gallery under the Services at the top of the board & on their website..

Way to go CAD!!!! thumbs_up.gif

I don't visit that forum very often but thank goodness the last
time I did they had gotten rid of that silly Karma thing!
Someone was not playing nice and the Webbie was smart enough
to do away with that nonsense. bangin.gif

Posted by: cynni 06-Jan-2006, 07:35 AM
Firecracker: sure was glad to see that Karma thing gone. It was a royal Pain.
Nice to see ya again. thumbs_up.gif

Posted by: Firecracker 06-Jan-2006, 08:16 AM
Someone was making it a "pain"~that's for sure!
I really didn't understand the whole idea of it all but I think
it was a wise decision to have it removed.

Good to see you~my friend! smile.gif bye1.gif

Hi guys.

I came back from work that day and looked at the board knew something was missing then it dawned on me....it was the karma.. That karma thing was wierd.. As I had stated on there I didn't worry to much about it it wasn't reliable..I would get on and have a bunch come back, then come back again and it was almost none so whats up with that?? I didn't like it either I am really glad we don't have that here..
I think the administrator and helper have their work cut out for them they seem to be doing alright other than upsetting people with the karma thing..

Anyhow-I hope nothing but good things are in store for Clann An Drumma and can't wait for the new CD to come out..

Slainte smile.gif

CAD's new site is proboards, which is a free message board. Nice for the person putting together a website...for free....... but not so nice for the users. It comes equipped with the "karma" as a bonus. Useless, IMO. Also, proboards will shut you down in a heartbeat should you violate their TOS or if they decide to do so, often times for no reason given. Plus, it is so busy at times you cannot even get into the dang site. Hope Joe will eventually change it to something else.

I think the Karma thing was reliable... The person giving themselves Karma points was the one unreliable.
Highlandeyes calling the "troublemaker" out was awesome! Just one more reason put on the list to admire that lady!

Has anyone had trouble with spyware after going into that forum? I sure have! I don't know if it comes off their ads or what! grrrrrrrr bash.gif

Posted by: Rindy 07-Jan-2006, 09:51 AM
CR, thanks for all the information on the proboard..I guess if it shuts down it does it would be a shame..And it was great of Stevie to put it all together..

Firecracker- I must disagree with you on being reliable.. If someone could give their own self karmas how can that be reliable? What do you mean she called someone out?
No I have had no trouble since being the site. All the adds probably. Haven't had a lot of time to be there .

Well back to Clann An Drumma- The new CD should be out real soon can't wait. I love the pictures they put up on the website...see you guys around the forums...

Rindy, The new CAD CD is coming out already? !Wow! I wonder if they will do diffferent songs or the ones we are used to hearing? wonder how so much Albannach's sound will be like as well!

Hopefully you all won't have any problems with the proboard site. They are so tempermental that you just don't know, but it may all turn out well and good. If so? I wish y'all the best! wink.gif smile.gif

Posted by: Rindy 07-Jan-2006, 10:10 AM
Celtic Rose, I haven't a clue but I do know they are working on it. But soon is the word once again lol.. I am really anxious to hear what they sound like.. there is talk of a video clip coming so we will be able to hear and see them perform..soon.

Rindy~People can go into a forum using lots of different forum names
thus being able to give themselves karma points. But I'm sure you know that without my having to explain it.
Why someone would be so insecure to feel the need to do that is beyond me! rolleyes.gif
You're in the CAD forum quite often so I'm sure you know what is going on there with H. No need for explanation.

A CD! Things sure have moved fast for a band put together so quickly. huh.gif

Hiya firecracker...well couldn't the administrator find out what was going on then? I know here they could..brave people I will say that.. You would last two seconds here if fowl play was in order..with anything. That is what makes this a great site.

I haven't a clue as to what your talking about with H..???? Just because I am there doesn't mean I have time to read everything..lol wished My first priority is here... thumbs_up.gif
May be if I see ya on CAD we can talk about it over there..these threads are generally about the band not the fans..

I think things are going really well for both CAD and the other band. I can't wait to hear them..and hopefully see them SOON!

I must say, I don't like the new look.

Also, don't they stream their music anymore?

Hi Avonlea22, I know, there are so many people that don't like the board..you should pm the administrator and tell (Stevie) what you don't like about it. It is a proboard and they are trying to get it how people like it..The administrator is doing his best and sometimes no matter what you do it won't please everyone. They can't change it if you don't tell them...

As far as streaming their music that is still to come - you could also ask the administrator that. But really put in your ideas...the board is for you.

A site takes a lot of time and dedication to get to the point Celtic Radio is now..
Now we see all the hard work Macfive and the others put into this board..I have no doubts that the CAD forum will get better and better so don't give up already.

Slainte to good to see you....

Posted by: Firecracker 07-Jan-2006, 01:32 PM
Let's cut that Webbie some slack. You can only work with what is thrown your way...You won't see me in the CAD forum very often but I think the Webbie has done an ok job so far with what I've seen.
He really hasn't been given a whole lot to work with.

As you have you said~Rindy
if we don't like there we should leave. Good advice given.

Hey there Brian..
I see...Well I guess I will say there again, send the administrator any ideas you have that would make it a better site..what you don't like.. Its just being developed and there is a lot to be added..don't give up just yet.. wink.gif

A note from the administrator: I like all of the CAD discussion here (good and bad), but lets keep to the subject. I detect a touch of insincerity in some of these posts directed towards individuals.

Let me say that I have very little tolerance for this sort of stuff and I would appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Please don't respond to this post. Thankyou.

Gosh, maybe I'm thinking of a totally different band, then. I've been out of the loop for so long.

Did CAD EVER have streaming music on their site?

So I'm not going crazy. Yes, it was all CAD music, 24/7. I liked to listen to that. I've tried to order a CD from them before, and it never arrived. They mailed a second one, but it never arrived either. I gave up. I used to enjoy their music when it was streaming, since it was really the only way to listen to it (except here at HR).

That old web site design was much better than the new one, IMHO.

Bring back the music!
